On the steelbook copy, Sadie, Arthur and Charles are running through New Austin. https://imgur.com/a/7m4Hj8w. Not only is there dialogue indicating he was meant to visit Bonnie's ranch and New Austin, but even the limited edition teases New Austin content as Arthur. It explains why Sadie's character changes so quickly, they must've cut a lot of content revolving Sadie.

Nah friend thats the Heartlands,. You can even see that rock from the east Grizzlies in the background.

Anyone find the cave John was meant to be in yet?

Also, it seems the Course of True love V mission was meant to be in chapter 4 instead of 6 due to Arthur's lack of coughing.

Are you sure? It doesn't look anything like Heartlands. Why is it all orange like that? The rock behind Charles look pretty New Austin to me. Hosea also talks about camp locations in New Austin.

If that's really Heartlands though that's still prove they cut a lot of content revolving Sadie.

I was thinking that picture was taken in the Heartlands too. Took some screenshots since I was in the East Grizzlies already. Is this the rock your referring to? Edit: I compared both pictures if this is rock you're talking about which I also assumed, it's definitely not the same one in the steelbook. The steelbook rock is completely differently shaped especially in the front with much different surroundings. Even through all different angles, the rock looked nothing like the steelbook rock.

Future dlc usage, maybe (RDO exclusive...).

I wonder if they'll ever release a DLC.

One thing to note which I believe many forget. The map which was leaked years before showed only the new part of the map. That doesn't mean that New Austin wasn't in plan. Maybe I'm mistaken but it makes sense to me, the part regarding game development. Aren't you suppose to at least roughly make out the story first (some drafts) and then do the map part around that said story? To put it simply first the story then the map?

Anyways, I strongly believe that New Austin was there from the get-go and the leaked map only showed the addition to that. It would also make a lot of sense with the information people uncovered.

Also in regards with Arthur's appearance in New Austin, they probably decided to remove that part of the story because it could potentially mess with some of the story aspects in the first RDR. Not the best choice in my opinion since it removes the total freedom of the Arthur's part of the story and in a way you can't fully enjoy the game with that character and yet they could have made good story elements which could support him in that area (even with the botched robbery in Blackwater).

This is true. If I recall correctly his journal makes mention about the gang's plans to flee to New Austin after they do a robbery or some sort but it never happens, that journal entry seemed slightly out of place. Maybe I'm overthinking it and it could've been just a plan that's all talk. This is a bad theory, but I'm speculating maybe New Austin possibly was the last minute plan? Unless the journal entry is representation they were going to head into New Austin at one point.. What's odd to me is Arthur has John's exact recorded interactions dialogue that means all that dialogue was intended for Arthur first but it was given to John. All these interactions John and Arthur have are from the EP, like MacFarlane's Ranch dialogue. Same exact lines but for Arthur. So if these are all intended for the EP, my theory is... Wouldn't that mean there was possibly going to be an alternative ending with Arthur ending up in New Austin while John builds his ranch?

When the game got leaked ages ago the leaker made no mention of New Austin. I was in Tumbleweed and I ordered the Chili. It took 8 attempts to trigger Arthur's recorded dialogue for him to say the word Chili. It makes me believe not all of New Austin was finished. Slightly unrelated I also remember there is mention of the Strange Man which has a poem about Jimmy Brooks, the man Arthur encounters early in the game. Which makes me think that Arthur was supposed to come across the Strange Man in New Austin at one point not just John since the Jimmy Brooks poem makes no sense.

It does that in all places when ordering food not just New Austin.

The Strange Man's cabin out in Bayou NWA is called a location called "Serial killer" if you take a photo and upload to social club. Maybe beta location names can be discovered this way?

Yeah, the waterfall at the top of the map is called Rocky Seven, but only according to the Social Club

Which becomes a problem when you get it as a robbery tip from the freed prisoner, and you can't find it.

I found a peice of paper that says New Bordeaux in Van Horn, on the oversized parcel booth next to the post office there's a small peice of paper on one of the posts listing the local agents for the Boales Frieght Company, and it says New Bordeaux instead of Saint Denis. They did a pretty good job of changing the name everywhere though, this is the only instance I've found so far.

I think it is also mentioned in a campfire song

I've seen something saying New Mondeaux, but I haven't seen anything with Bordeaux.  I couldn't find anything around the post office in Van Horn either.  Is it on an inside or outside wall?

Update... yep that's hard to spot!  And that looks a lot like Bordeaux and not Mondeaux.

*I actually tried to find this place, but after 30 minutes of search i realized that it was place from a mission, which was already marked on my map, lol

Hey, thanks for that! I was curious if this place existed in the release version

I wonder why they changed the look of Blackwater, mostly the main street, and the city hall building. Lots of houses were changed from tree in the first game to bricks in this one. I noticed on the cigarette card collection of american locations, the Blackwater card looks like the one in RDR1. It also has the old look on some drawing in one of the newspapers. I guess it looked like in RDR1 at first, but they changed it sometime during development.

I just LOVE how the interview has a photo of Arthur wearing a bandana AND his Kneckerchief at the end.
