Pump-Action Shotgun Appreciation Thread.

I would like to make a topic dedicated to what in my opinion is the best gun in the game.

The Pump-Action Shotgun.

What makes this gun my favorite in the game is not only the damage obvious, but the distance it can kill, even with the standard shells it can kill a target at a surprisingly far distance.

Based on the Winchester Model 1897.

Show me your customized pumps and lets discuss about it.

I was thinking of starting a similar topic on this weapon. The sound effects are amazing for it. That pump sound, then the shot and the head of your enemy exploding. This is my go-to for close combat on horse and on foot action. I haven't even tried the auto or lever shotgun yet. I can't get enough of this weapon.

Would also like to add, I usually never use shotguns in games.

this gun is pretty good with free aim aswell. Also can dismember people which is a bonus

I haven't spent nearly as much time with this weapon as it probably deserves. There is something so cool about the classic long barrel double barrelled shotgun that makes it my number one.

I agree, it's a great weapon and my second long one to go for, right after repeater. Especially effective while on horse with slug ammo...

I just realized that I didn't customize it yet, have to do it when I get home from work...

Love mine. It replaces my full length double barrel as my close range. My only wish is to be able to put a pistol grip on it and one on the pump. Probably not period correct but it would be awesome

Why do you prefer it over the double barrel? Ammo capacity?

Mainly, holds 5 shells so it’s a little more capable but after some upgrades I think it’s more powerful that the double barrel

I like it but double barrel is still my preferred one because it is more challenging.  To be hones, weapon selection is weakest point of this game so far. Can't figure out why we have more canned food variety than revolvers.

But yeah, that shotgun is very good. I prefer it with stock looks.

Shotguns have been my favorite kind of weapon ever since 1993 Doom. My favorite pump-action shotgun was the hunting shotgun from Fallout: New Vegas, but I'm loving the one from RDR2 possibly even more.

It's my favourite too. Everything about it is so good, the sound, the reload animations, the pump animation when you get it out and press left trigger. So good.

i’m really glad r* made shotguns good in this game, unlike most games these days where their pellets just stop existing 3 feet infront of you.

also this game needs the and stay back perk for comical flooring of people with shotguns.

Not even the Semi-Auto Shotgun conquers this beast. This'll be my main shotgun in RDO for sure.

How do you know which ammo is in your shotgun? I have bought both.

You manually switch to it by opening up the weapons wheel highlighting the gun you want, while the gun is highlighted your ammo options will be shown in the middle of the wheel, you switch between ammo using the D pad.

The pump action is my house cleaning tool of choice. Took a dude's arm clean.off with it. He wasn't happy about the impromptu amputation, let me tell you.

I had the Semi-Auto, the catalogue in the Gunshop says I own it, however, it is no where to be found.

Was thinking about getting that Lever-action shotty but the stats on the pump give it a slight edge, just not sure I want to buy another weapon to have it go Bye-bye again.   So far my DA revolver and autoloader have gone AWOL.

Was thinking of dual-wielding sawed offs but the reload rate and range might be an issue in a firefight if I can't switch to a repeater as the game has a nasty habit of removing my loadout and leaving it on the horse before story missions when I go in having exactly what I am going to need to turn the Bad Guys into Ghosts.

I love clearing out interiors with this shotgun. The sound of reloading is so meaty, I love it.

Dual wield sawed offs are a NO GO...

I was so excited to customize and start slanging 2

....then that reload came and I lost a horse.

More of a double-barreled shotgun guy myself.

I prefer the ruggedness of the double barrel but I'm a terrible shot so I need the added ammo of the pump action

There is nothing more satisfying than having to use only one shot per baddie. Making full use of my double-barreled. 😎

Ouch.   Mine usueally tosses me once it gets serious or I get shot out of the saddle trying to figure out where the shootin' is comin' from.  Best for me to skeedaddle till I see the red dots then turn with my carbine or Bolt Action.

Get on the lower side of a hill so you are out of sight and pop them as they come over looking for you.  :D
