Hello all,

So i am wondering when you hunted an animal and bring it back to camp to give to pearson, do i skin it first or do i give it without skinning and i get the skins and such anyway?

Tried to figure this out but don't really know the answer.

I usually skin them first. then load the carcass onto the horse. Once back at camp you can decide which parts to donate to Pearson. As some you may want to keep for yourself, for other crafts. You can donate the carcass as well.

Quick tip. You don't have to take the animal off the horse and dump it on the ground. Just go to Pearson and transfer all from there.

You can craft at your personal camp. You can also just hold Y/Triangle anywhere and craft on the fly. So far I've only used the system for coffee and split tip bullets.

Have you done the Hosea mission "Exit Pursued by a Bruised Ego" in Chapter 2? That takes you through the principles of camping and crafting......

.....and I've just noticed the Shakespeare reference that Rockstar crammed into that mission title. Very literary!

Love me a hunt. Spent days getting the perfect dear, buck and elk pelts. For the upgrade satchel.

I'm not sure on a few things; whether all pelts you bring back are kept by Pearson for all future crafting, or whether he sells/uses it?

How many pelts can you stowe on ye nag?

yea i'm wondering that as well like, does he store them or what? also whats a good way to get money? i tried selling horses but getting 1$ for a horse is not really helpful...

Also is there a way to increase like storage on your horse so you can carry more animals?

does meat or animals go bad in this game? do they spoil? I have been under the impression that I skin them right before I donate to pearson. I was thinking if I skinned the animal and the meat was exposed it would go bad... i dont know the game rules but I just think about what I would do in real life

i know two places to craft, with pearson at camp OR you can setup a camp yourself (in the L1 menu near horse) and you can cook/craft near the fire

i think crafting with pearson may give more options, im still early in game and dont have any materials to craft yet

can we own a cart?

i think the only way is to bring a 2nd horse with you and the horse can carry two smaller animals on the sides and a large animal on it's rear plus the horse you are riding... you can have a 2nd temporary horse and order it to follow you... maybe if you stole a stagecoach from someone that wold carry more but i never tried that

I've tried to load large hides and game into a wagon. There's no prompt to stow the items like with a horse.

You have to make sure you find an animal in pristine condition first. Then you have to kill it with an adequate weapon (in one shot so that you do not damage the pelt). You can study the animal and then look at its info so you know which gun to use with a given animal. For instance, to get perfect pelts from rabbits you have to kill them with small game arrows. With wolves, you need to use poison arrows, and so on (not sure if its the same for all kinds of wolves but you get the point). Hope this helps.

Also if anyone could help.. i went online found these guides about hunting, some of them recommended using dead eye but it seems like whenever I'm ready to take down an elk (for example) after confirming its quality, switching to the appropriate weapon and sneaking up on it; after activating dead eye my gun's crosshairs go over the animal but the dead eye activates these multiple x's even though I'm really going for the head and then once i fire the body is obviously damaged. Seems like deadeye is not recommended for hunting or am I doing something wrong here?

To your dead eye question... That is the first level of dead eye and it's pinpointing targets automatically, once you unlock next level you will be able to mark the target manually with R1/RB than confirm with R2/RT, or shoot manually just with R2/RT.

I skin them, because I needed the perfect skins for my bag. Finally crafted the Legend of the east bag. It’s awesome - 99 of each item now 😁

Hold right on the Dpad to pull up your satchel.

Also it seems that some itens are in the wrong category. For instance the Hair Tonic isnt in the Tonics category, lol. I spent a long part of the game thinking my game was bugged because I couldnt get any more,  but I just couldnt find it in my satchel. Try looking in other tabs.

I stink at hunting so far. Need to get off the horse more, use binoculars, track and invest the time. I'm way too slow on the draw with the bow or any gun.
