Remove Hitmarkers

Rockstar! Can we please get a patch so we can remove the hitmarkers?

Those big X’s are really killing the immersion and we should have the ability to remove them and still keep the crosshairs and free aim. You created this absolutely amazing game with the best physics I have ever seen and then threw on these distracting red and grey hitmarkers that need to go. I really don’t need a red X to tell me that someone is dead, it is way too arcade. I am enjoying the game so far but please give us the ability to remove the hitmarkers, please.

I am not really sure but I think I saw the option for this in display settings... I think you just have to scroll down a bit to see it, not sure tho...

They introduced this kind of kill-confirmed notification in GTA  5 when the screen kind of changes colour for a moment. I switched it off as it was a distracting, arcade tactic. I noticed it in RDR2 and you could switch it off.

Is that the same thing you are talking about?

No dude he’s talking about the big red X that pops up over the body when you kill someone, obscuring the gore and ruining my immersion. It bugged me in gtav but in RDR2, it’s so freakin out of place. And why no option to turn it off? I don’t hold out much hope for rockstar adding an option seeing as how they didn’t bother with gtav after all this time.

Oh man yeah and come to think it’s way worse in RDR2 than gtav. Like every time your bullet makes contact it seems to throw up a white x, then a red x for the kill. And I can understand their purpose and utility, especially in online. But hey maybe I don’t want to be told when the guy is dead.  And also I have no doubt that many, or even most don’t care. I’m just saying there should be an option. Pretty basic.

100% Agreed with you, we need an option to disable this... is annoying.

Yes, there should be an option to turn off the X-markers. Especially since the screen flashes as well. That should be enough to signal "Ok, he's dead."

And, talking about immersion, it'd be fun if there would be more doubt as to whether someone has died or not. More realistic.

But yeah, like I said - I completely agree. The big "X" marks get in the way of the gore, and feels too arcady. Just add an option to enable/disable them and we're good, R*. ☺️

Do you guys think they come on here and read these? I literally made an account to try and voice this issue regarding the serious need for a toggle off hitmarker option. Its starting to ruin the game for me a bit. I just can not get used to them

Yes I'm pretty sure some of them come here in ninja mode..

Eh looks like turning off the reticle completely removes the hit markers so I’ve been doing that... not exactly a viable solution...

Not exactly yeah... is hard to play like that 🤣

For all the gameplay decisions and HUD customization options Rockstar made for the sake of immersion, it is an oversight to not allow hitmarkers to be disabled without making third person unplayable.

I’m using free aim and iron sights, so it actually works just fine, except from horseback. They need to add iron sights to horseback and vehicle play and then it will be fine.

This.

I'm having a terrible time defending myself from horseback.

Yep and it’s a real shame, because iron sights are very well done in this game and first person play is brilliant. No idea why they did not allow them on horseback and in certain vehicles.

I'm getting in the habit of perpetually just jumping off my horse, and then start shooting.

I'm not very far through the game, though. Only just to Chapter 3.

I don't spend a lot of time doing missions, though. Maybe 1 a day, then the rest of the time hunting and messing about.

Perhaps they will change it, or i will get better at shooting from horseback?
