Yeah people will b*tch, make memes, poke fun etc. But I'd rather have good customisation and physics while putting up with some clipping issues than sacrifice the customisation and physics. Exactly. At the end of the day, the clipping issue is minor and can be easily overlooked as long as customisation is a priority.

In GTAO you get off a plane and met Lamar who says that you know each other from Lifeinvader and after that he introduces you to a few contacts... As corny as it sounds, that is one of the most memorable moments of my gaming life. Maybe real life, too. Meeting Lamar, being given a pistol, and being set loose in the most impressive open-world that gaming had ever seen. Thinking about it makes me smile uncontrollably. It makes what GTA devolved into that much more disheartening. If RDR2 can match that initial feeling of wonderment, awe, and adventure, much less top it, I'll be summarily impressed. Rockstar tried to turn him into a criminal kingpin, but the gameplay doesn't reflect this, and now the tone and balance of GTA Online is a mess. I worry that they'll do the same thing with RD Online. The more specific the online protagonist's story is, the worse it'll be if Rockstar eventually goes off the rails with it. I wonder the same thing. Are they going to paint us as "down-on-our-luck" outlaws with a Bounty on our heads but in five years we own massive Mansion houses, plantation fields and the such? I dont know how they are going to milk out the "grind" from a game set in this era? Apart from new clothes what more can they add for us to reach towards?
Mikeol1987 1,828
I was thinking of basing my online character on Jim West, Desperado, Rough Rider, no you don't want nonna just so I can abnoxiously sing Wild Wild West as an anti-troll troll move @RyuNova - Weapons, Customization... there are some very obvious weapons missing that will no doubt be added to RDO. the Lemat Revolver being one of them

It might fly for one DLC but people will expect game expansion style updates. I can see a Heist/Robbery Update but what else can they add to shift Buffalo Bonds?

GTA's problem is that - despite being the head of several criminal enterprises - we still have to do everything ourselves and don't have a mansion to live in. So owning a mansion or plantation in RDR2 would be an improvement, assuming the plantation makes passive income. A missed opportunity in GTA Online was gang interaction. There are a lot of gangs in the game, and I always thought it'd be interesting for them to be like factions in an RPG. You can join one and slowly take over territory and business from other gangs, improving your own gang and rising through the ranks in the process, and actually earn the criminal kingpin status that was given to us so easily in GTA Online. Your money would also be tied to your gang, so if you start losing business because the cops or other gangs get in your way, you start losing your own money. If things continue like this, you'll lose territory and businesses, you won't be able to access your expensive properties or vehicles, and contacts will stop doing business with you until you can get back on top. There would've been a constant grind to maintain your status, which I admit sounds like it'd be a chore after a while, but I think it would've kept our interest a lot longer than what we got, and I hope we have something like that in RDR Online.
RyuNova 17,019
@MostlyPonies Funnily enough the original plan for GTAO was supposed to be a massive Turf War style game where you could join the Vagos, Balls or Grove street.

I'm optimistic, there, for several reasons - not least the fact that the hair engine used in RDR2 (Ornatrix) isn't just limited to Arthur or the main story characters. For instance, even horse manes/tails use the same physics simulation - those aren't canned animations. The main thing is whether hair growth (and not being able to trim hair you've not already grown!) is going to be carried over - we've already seen longer hair in the one brief look at a female player character, and male characters with ponytails/chops/beards in the Ultimate Edition pics, so it's not going to be GTAO all over again. But yeah, I hope R* doesn't cut out features or streamline them in the name of player convenience - because all that ends up doing is making a shallower experience, IMO.
IamCourtney 7,568
I do hope hair growth stays in, but if so I also hope for some kind of tonic we can take to lock it in at a desired length.
