Camp supplies - Am I supposed to be using them?

The medical, food, and ammo in the camp, am I supposed to be taking them and using them?

Yes you can, but you have to restock them using the Ledger (costs money) cause the camp needs them too.

I think R* has noted that tending to the camp is entirely optional. However I’ve noticed since cash is a bit hard to come by, you can restock the camps ammunition and then restock yourself for free

Well, where does the money come from then?

I spend money in the ledger to get ammo and medical and food, they show up and I use them... but couldnt I just buy them in town anyway.

When or how do other members of the gang use the stuff?

 

I guess the only value is in that all members of the gang donate to the camp so i guess the cost is split.

There are contributions from your gang noted in the ledger! Upgrading dutch's tent will increase the amount of donations. From what I have observed. Use the ledger to upgrade your ammo and medical supplies. Then you can restock at camp.

 

I assume that the camp restock fee is cheaper than using a store/gunsmith 

 

Saying that you can produce your own ammo in the wild at your own camp so I dunno. Still trying to figure it all out

Yep, I went on a good bar hunting spree and a lot of grand theft stagecoach (selling to the wagon fence near Emerald). Upgraded everything in the ledger, and once did I was able to bring certain gang members supplies to make special ammo like flaming arrows, extra strong fire bottles, ect.

I think the camp doesn't. The supplies you donate get converted into money i believe and early on in the game, i took nearly all the ammo from the ammo wagon and nothing has spawned in it's place. You can pay to restock the wagon in the ledger and i think that's there if people don't want to make trips to general stores to get their supplies.
