Add-on Vehicles not working. HELP!

Recommended Posts

A Mad Towel

It's the first time it's happening when the Add-on vehicles are not working.I added some vanilla cars via OpenIV (like 90-100 I had more than that). I have everything installed: ScriptHook, ScriptHook NET, Addon car spawner, Trainer, latest gameconfig for After Hours DLC, I added the <Item> lines at dlclist.xml at every car added in the mods folder dlcpacks and when I enter the game and I try to spawn a car invalid model or the car doesn't exist. I even reinstalled the game, I reinstalled OpenIV, I f*cking lost my time and it's still the same thing, I also ran the game via OpenIV, I set the game launch -scOfflineonly and it still doesn't work please I really need help maybe there is a script or something that is missing. It's the first time happening!

I'm going to give you a handy heads up... this post will get ignored unless you add some useful information to it.

You tell us you have everything installed but you don't tell us if it's installed correctly and if other mods work. You don't provide any logs for instance.

You say you have added the <item> lines to dlclist.xml but you don't show what you have added. You don't tell us if you have checked it for errors, or whether you have validated the XML through an XML checker. There are online checkers but most people use Notepad++ and the XML tools plugin. Don't assume the information given in readme files is correct, especially considering the dlclist.xml changed with After Hours... check, check and check again.

We can't see your computer, so when you provide little or no information, it leaves people guessing. Nobody is gong to ask and then wait for information to be added. If it's not there already, then they will just move on past it... that's the sad reality of this and many other forums. Look at how many questions get zero replies but several views, the GTA V modding community has very little patience.

I have a similar problem; my game crashes if I add any lines to the dlclist, and yes, I am using the new one from After Hours. I checked everything else and it is only dlclist causing the crashing.

And like the OP you do the exact same thing, you post nothing that shows what you have done.

It's like me posting a question that just says "How many fingers am I holding up?". It makes people guess and anyone willing to offer an answer, isn't going to do it by just guessing.

Three!

It's like talking to a brick wall tbh

If you only edit dlclist.xml and crash :

- make use of a modded gameconfig.xml;

- check those lines in dlclist.xml you just edited for proper formatting;

- check content.xml of the dlcpack you're adding for inconsistencies.

Unlucky... it was seven.

But you're right on the rest of it. Maybe we need to get Uri Geller on the forums.

Funny how both posters have been online since their question.

Guess I'll never understand why you'd post a question on your issue and don't feel the need to follow up on it.

I'll never understand why I am stupid enough to keep thinking it's worth wasting my time posting comments in posts like this. The sensible people just ignore them... (the posts that is... well and my comments probably)

I was going to say I should just stick to the coding section but I have posted full code solutions to people who just can't be bothered to offer any kind of appreciation for you giving up some (or a lot) of your time to help them. My 199 addons work fine, your 10,000 probably work just as well. ;) I'll stick to just playing the game and creating mods.

Except I did tell you what mods I have done and that I eliminated all of them as factors except add-on cars in the dlclist... and I don't know how to get a log. No need to be snarky about it.

No you didn't, all you posted was this:

Quote

"I have a similar problem; my game crashes if I add any lines to the dlclist, and yes, I am using the new one from After Hours. I checked everything else and it is only dlclist causing the crashing."

Where does it say "add-on cars" in that post?. Where does it even mention what mods you have done? I can't see a single "mod" mentioned in those 2 sentences.

It could have been cars, peds, maps, props, weapons, aircraft or boats, or any combination of all those. You didn't show your dlclist or what you had added. How are people supposed to know if it's what you added to the dlclist that really caused the problem, or the mods that needed the lines adding to the dlclist? Can you guarantee 100%, that every addon dlc.rpf has no faulty files in it? If you're so convinced that it was the dlclist, why didn't you post it? Why didn't you show the changes you had made?

So far you've posted 4 sentences and none of them contain any information that gives anyone willing to help, any idea of what you have actually done. Yet you can manage to use one of them, to incorrectly call my analagous post "snarky".

If you really want help, then participate in the discussion and be prepared to do some leg-work and post information. And FYI, main game folder, files than end in .log... are log files.

Dude, I'm asking for help because I don't know what to look for to fix this. How would I know what to tell you if I don't know what the problem is? A teacher doesn't yell at a kid for not knowing how to articulate what he doesn't know.

I added one single line by copying and pasting the format of another line. I have used these add-on cars before the update without issue.

What log do you want? I have logs for ASILoader, OpenIV, ScripthookV & DotNet and EnableMPCars.

If someone was sat on the chair next to you, you would probably show them what you did. You'd probably say "This is what I added to the dlclist.xml file" and you'd show them the file. You'd say "These are the mods I am trying to add." and you'd show them the mod files. Then you'd say "...and this is what happens when I run the game." and you'd show them the game crashing. So the person next to you, can see exactly what you did and what happens.

Diagnosing by internet isn't that simple unfortunatley, because we simply can't see what you did and that's critical to knowing where the problem is. Whilst you don't know what to look for, you do know what you did and that's the bit we absolutely need to know. And when people try to help and can't get that critical information, they get frustrated. I mean using your school analogy, if a kid broke something and the teacher kept asking "What did you do?" and the kid wouldn't tell them, the teacher would get frustrated and yell.

So the first thing we have to see, is the dlclist.xml, to rule that out as the cause. To be honest though the dlclist causing a crash is rare. I have just deliberately broken mine by adding an error and the game still loaded. And to see what constitutes an error, this is the faulty line I created:

<Item>dlcpacks:\playersextended\</item>

The error is that the first Item has an uppercase 'I' and the second item has a lowercase 'i'. They must be the same case, either both lowercase or both uppercase. However, whilst that error just prevented that addon dlc (and everything after it) from loading, if that error is earlier on in the dlclist.xml file, then it will pevent essential game dlc files from loading and that could cause the problem.

If that file is fine, then there are two other potential causes:

1) A faulty dlc.rpf file in an addon

2) Loading too many addons without using a custom gameconfig.xml file

You haven't said what addons, or how many addons you're trying to add, so it's impossible to know which of those two causes are responsible... if they are responsible that is.

Anything more will be reliant on what you can provide as further info...

I'm only trying to add one add-on car right now because it seems any amount crashes the game. But I have probably had around 75 at once before without issue.

Here's the car: https://www.gta5-mods.com/vehicles/jzx100-mark-ii-add-on-tuning-template

Hmmm... now this is interesting. In game version 1032, it works just fine, as you can see...

1L44I4z.jpg

But in 1493, it does indeed crash the game before it loads... which turned out to be because I hadn't installed a modded gameconfig in that game version... doh! After installing this gameconfig:https://www.gta5-mods.com/misc/gta-5-gameconfig-300-cars this was the result.

(Make sure to use the 1x version, which is the default ped and vehicle density). Just to clarify one thing, this version was 1493.0, my 1493.1 is a completely clean version, so I run nothing modded in that. (I actually run 6 different versions)

98N8TLj.jpg

If this does fix the problem, this solution (i.e. a modded gameconfig) was mentioned in Post #5 by @_ReNNie_

I would also just like to say, that as nice as that car is, I wouldn't have it in my game. It has a steering wheel tuning part that has 17,000 polygons... a steering wheel!! Just to put that into perspective, the Zentorno car, has just over 17,000 polygons... the whole car. (addendum: I forgot to open zentorno_hi, it does in fact have 52,000 but that still means that steering wheel tuning part is 1/3 of a complete car's worth of polygons) The ytd is also a bundle of sh*te as well... so just be aware that this single car is using a huge chunk of resources, all on its own.
