Anyone else finding clothing customization to be disappointing?

Been through a lot of shops and didn't find anything satisfying, the game has been in development for 8 years and they haven't thought of adding more than 6 shirts, the ability to remove your suspenders and to button up your coat/jacket like in the prologue, not even a poncho? I only hope red dead online will have something more mesmerizing.

Sounds like content wise the SP is a bit lacking, with limited clothing and weapons options. I wonder if there;s going to be more in Online. It just kinda sucks to hear these sorta things.

What do you guys really expect from 1899 clothing? Lime green pants and a chrome hat?

Sure, it is lacking a bit here and there, but overall the choice is solid timewise.

I am unable to unbutton or roll up the shirt sleeves now, although, there is a chance I am completely missing something right in front of my face.

It’s kinda lacking, but there isn’t much that can be done that would fit in at the time. It’s almost 1900, you aren’t going to see someone wearing a t-shirt, boxers and a pug mask.

I don't want any outlandish looking clothes like in gta, but seeing npcs and your gangmates wear many cool different shirts/jackets/pants/coats leaves you questioning why is Arthur not able to wear some of those. My biggest problem with coats is that you can't seem to button them, only keep them open, even though it's techinaclly plausible as seen in the introduction missions and with npcs.

you can roll the sleeves, open the top button of some shirts and choose if the boots go over or under your pants in your tent/room by pressing the square button(modify), but you can't fully button or unbutton.

You have to push square to modify while in the clothing menu

Go to your clothing chest, press Y/Triangle and then press X/Square when it loads.

I found it odd that I traveled all the way to Saint Denis only to find they had the exact same clothes as the store in Valentine

But they do have different outfits.

Are you kidding?  With the ability to craft all sorts of items from the furs and skins of animals, I'm finding the customisation overwhelming!  Don't forget, this is SP as well, and GTA's single play had "limited" clothing customisation too.

Issue with coats is access to your weapons, satchel etc.

Do they? I didn't check the outfits section

Is it different articles of individual clothing available?

Once you buy the outfits you can equip individual pieces of clothes from it

Lock n' Stock

It's much better than the first game that's for sure. The variety of clothing but be a bit better, but I like the ability to style your hair and shave.

Absolutely not.

There is plenty of different clothing you can get from both Shopkeepers and Trappers, and the majority of them even are customizable to come with different varieties of color for you to make tons of shirt, vest and jacket combinations together. It's not disappointing in the slightest because this fixes the biggest problem I had with clothing in GTA V and GTA Online, it's miles better than what whe have back there, because you can wear any piece without having to ditch another. It's free, it has no restrictions, you can completely make Arthur look like however you want without worry.

That's not even mentioning the different hair and beard styles you can get in barbershops. It's a gigantic leap from the mess that was GTA V's customization, singleplayer wise.

Having to wear suspenders all the time seems like a restriction alongside my button problem

What's wrong with suspenders?

THIS!!

I ran into clothing issues all the time with GTA Online due to their restrictions on what items of clothing go with other items and the various rules and barriers associated with suits, vests, jackets, etc. There's none of that in this game and it's a very, very welcome reprieve. Much more creative freedom down to individual pieces. It's really nice.

Only disappointing thing is that I can't get Micahs jacket. Customization as a whole is pretty impressive imo

I would imagine so, much like GTA V and GTA: Online. They'll need something to entice players to buy whatever sharkcards are called this time so don't worry, you'll probably be able to buy a bright pink poncho and a lime green ten-gallon hat. ;)

So if I got this right, we only got a handful piece of clothes time choose from, but we can extensively customize them?

Well, outfit customization is something that was very lacking in V so that's a plus...But there was plenty of clothing pieces to choose.
