Why do we walk so slow, this is driving me crazy!

I’m not sure if Rockstar is looking for some sort of hours played metrics by making us slowly crawl through our camp or any indoor area but it drives me up a wall. I find myself constantly asking “do I want to spend 5-10 minutes slowly walking through that house and loot it?” I usually pass and do a mission instead.

I find myself hating camp and never looking forward going there at all because, again, it takes 10 minutes slowly walking from person to person and getting everything done when I feel like it could be done in 2-3 minutes if we didn’t move at the speed of a snail.

There are are some other glitches and bugs in the game but the slow walking needs to fixed imho its to the point where I’m almost never looking foward into entering an area where I have to walk slow.

Maybe we shouldn’t be able to sprint through a house but the walking speed seems really slow to me and I feel like we should be able to run in camp.

Does anyone else feel this way?

I get what you’re saying, but it’s clearly a stylistic choice by Rockstar.

It’s an old timey western milieu.  It isn’t a fast paced faux Los Angeles or New York like GTA IV and V.  The world moves slower.

Thematically as well, it is important for the camp in particular to be a slow moving environment for two reasons - firstly, it makes it seem like a nice relaxed and safe place compared to the outside world.  Secondly, the slowness of the camp scene subtly reinforces the theme that the way of life that the gang is trying to live is being outpaced by the faster paced outside world that is pursuing them to their destruction.

But yeah, it would be nice to be able to drop off deer carcasses a bit more quickly.

I have to disagree with you. Walking slowly adds to the immersion and realism of the game. I walk slowly everywhere I go even when I don’t have to.

I agree, but in real life I walk faster than most people.  Drives my family insane.

When I discovered Saint Denis I spent a good 20 minutes just leading my horse down the streets. Never in a game have I liked walking so much

Or, you could put the "run" button on toggle in the settings.

You'd press X (or A on Xbox) once, and Morgan would fast walk around the camp.

I disagree completely. Walking slowly is the essence of being a cowboy.

I'd prefer the choice tbh. If i finish looting a house, I should be able to run out if i want too rather than being forced to walk everywhere. It only really bothers me at the camp but i guess it would make barely any sense or be immersive if Arthur is constantly running around the camp while everyone else is walking normally.

Walking so bloody slow in the camp is driving me insane. That, coupled with the horse whistling range and having to keep shaving makes the game a little too tedious, imo.

Of course these a just a few minor issues that not everyone will care about, in an otherwise incredible game.

I don't find it tedious, it adds to immersion, love it.

I love it, I don't find it tedious at all. Quite the opposite, it makes it a lot more interesting to observe everything that's going on around you.

If you don't like it, maybe this game is not for you. 99.9% of all other games on the market have the faster type of gameplay that might suit you better.

Besides, even in camp, you can walk fast if you want to. And; what would you yourself think if someone came running around in your camp? It'd drive me crazy if someone did that. I'd tell them to sit down and chill the f*ck out.

How does it add immersion when different "zones" in the game have specific rules/physics tied to them? I get what you are all saying, but when you don't have 5 hours to play and live a stressfull life, you don't want to waste time on walking snail speed. There is no reason for it to be forced unless it breaks the game or something which I find hard to believe.

Well, you usually don't run around when you buy some things in a general store, actually you never run or sprint when you do things unless there is an emergency. It does make sense tho to have the choice to run if you loot a cabin or something, shootout and dead bodies all around, better loot the place quick.

I have barely 5 hours to play during week days and well this does not bother me, I like taking my time and observing the world.
