JohnnyFBombs
Has anyone else been having a hell of a time figuring out dueling? It seems incredibly simple, I know. It's one button, yet I keep getting my ass handed to me in these duels. I keep holding down R2 all the way to build up the meter and then tap it to draw and Arthur just stands there, not drawing his weapon. I've tried it again and again, slowly holding down R2 sometimes, hitting it halfway through the meter, 3 quarters, ect. Same result. Granted, these are specific duels tied to a certain side mission, so maybe they're intentionally harder but I haven't been able to do any duel correctly yet. I find it ridiculous that I can't even draw my weapon before getting gunned down. Does anyone else know what I'm talking about or am I just missing something crucial? JohnnyFBombs
Guess I’m just terrible at dueling then. Do you know where you can practice?

iiConTr0v3rSYx
Have an elite controller and it’s near impossible to use the back paddles for slowly drawing your weapon.

It's a problem with your controller the only thing you can do is changing R2 with R1, or buy a new controller, lots of people have this problem. psymin
Jamwes
It's really weird and frustrating. Took me several tries and this is what worked for me. Hold R2 halfway down. This will slow down time and build your gauge. Watch your enemy. When they draw their gun, quickly let go of R2, aim, and press R2 again to fire. It's the letting go of R2 then pressing it again to fire that tripped me up.
CrimsonFolo
The way i see it, I hold down R2 slightly and when the enemy reaches for their gun, i press it fully down and aim for their hand and fire at it straightaway. I ain't sure if it's the correct way to do it but it's working so far. Jedster
Dr.Rosenthal
I remember having troubles with duels in RDR1, and I honestly can't say I understand the mechanics much better this time around. But I'll try some of these tips. Very much agree that there should be a "training ground" for practicing dueling.
