True, a story every six months is a bit reaching. 30 bucks for a story every year, though, they would definitely make "even more" than they did with shark cards, no doubt in my mind.

I don't think the Episodes earned them that much... and you surely underestimate the power of pay2win. After all, the developers flock to this model for one specific reason - it works really well, at least, for now.

I should be more clear; I don't mean stop doing shark cards, I'm saying more that with the success of GTA Online and the money it has been making, there is no excuse not to invest that in more stories for this huge wasted map which is just... you know, GTA V is just not a GTA in my eyes. Once the single player is over, you notice how much goes unused and unexplored. It just doesn't even feel like a GTA. It's like someone else bought the franchise to be frank.

Yep, I agree... GTA Online seems now like Just Cause and Saints Row, and it's a shame because the concept idea of every DLC was fantastic! Run a nightclub, steal and sell cars/crates, become a MC president for producing narcotics and a be smuggler are always been part of GTA, but sadly all these beautiful ideas were literally destroyed by vehicles that didn't make sense at all and the grindy businesses.

Shark Crads should have had the same impact they've had back in 2013 and 2014, you weren't forced to buy them because everything was cheaper, but, if you wanted to choose the "easy way", you could spend 100 bucks and you'd have received a good amount of money. Now with the Megalodon Shark card you can only buy 2-3 things, unless you want to "invest" in very useful vehicles like the P996-Lazer, the Luxor Deluxe and the Yacht.

Uhm Vice State will obviously be more than just beaches and swamps... If GTA VI revisits Vice City it will be more than just Vice City, but it would probably be a Rockstar version of Southern Florida, including Key West, Everglades, and possibly Tampa and Orlando. And Cuba and the Bahama's aren't far away either.

Agreed. I believe a lot of good things could be done with Vice City if they looked further than just the city. Considering how well swamp areas were handled in RDR 2, the Everglades would be a welcome addition.

It wouldn't be a total surprise if they did do this.

Rockstar has admitted that there initial plan and ambition was for V to be much bigger, but because of the limits in the software at the time, they weren't able to do everything they had planned.

They did? Was it in an rdr preview? I mean its obvious but i didnt really pay attention to the rdr previews

I doubt this. For RDR2 it made sense and it's a direct prequel to RDR1 and very connected with it.The GTA games have always been very standalone with minimal connections at best. I want VC for the next game anyway, not SA again

I hope so. It´s time for all original GTA cities in one map. Add LC from IV to the current map. Also add SF and LV and a lot of country side.

For example.

I'm not sure whether i would like such a thing, because the map would have to be insanely huge (even for those five cities), because the cities would have to be large to be believable (because every city would have to have suburbs and there would have to be a lot of countryside between those cities, not like GTA SA), and i'm afraid a lot of detailing (which is important) might not be done or only be half done. And i would like to have some more interiors in the game or to be able to access more buildings in game. I also think i would like something new to the game, and that polishing Liberty City or Los Santos might not work or feel weird.

I think an Orlando - Tampa - Miami contemporary setting just has more potential. I really want to have multiple cities, with cities that are very believable with large suburbs (LS lacked them actually kind off (a bit). Compared to Vinewood and the rich suburbs, the ghetto area looked a bit small-ish, because LS GTAV was really supposed to be a game about fame and glamour). But we shouldn't go over the top. And Tampa and Orlando could be a bit smaller than Miami, and would give you a reason to drive to the other ends of the map.

Greater Miami Area has some great potential for some landmarks like Cape Canaveral or even a fictional mar-a-lago (and i believe Rockstar could create a satire mission on it), with some hidden references to the current president who they will inevitably mock. And of course Miami wouldn't be Miami without the Keys and the Everglades, and there is some potential to include Cuba or the Bahama's too (or include a mission to it, like they've done with North Yankton).

I also have a feeling that the new GTA protagonist might be a latino (or a woman). But it would make a lot of sense if a latino is going to be the protagonist in GTA VI.

R* is able to do that. With the amount of money they made from V and Shake Cards, I expect something over the top, huge detailed map and lot of interiors. The question is, is the NG (PS5, next XBOX) able to run such map with all details in 4K and 60Hz. A man can dream.

Those 2 maps fortunately won't never be real... Basically there are 5 cities and a ton of countryside, deserts and mountains! The biggest 2 cities would be Los Santos (V) and Liberty City (IV), meanwhile Las Venturas (SA), San Fierro (SA) and Vice City would be copy paste cities with enhanced graphics. WOW! 3 PS2 cities! In 2020+!

Also there is someething that doesn't make no sense at all in those maps, for example:

- How can the 3D Universe and the HD Universe be in the same map? The old GTAs and the new GTAs don't share anything at all!

- The state of San Andreas in SA included Las Venturas, San Fierro and Los Santos, while, in GTA V, it contains Los Santos, Sandy Shores and Blaine County

- The State of San Andreas, Liberty City and Vice City have always been isles

GTA V came out on 17th September 2013 (more than 5 years ago) and we still don't have any news regarding the next GTA. GTA VI will surely be launched after 2020 at this point, so there will be more than 7 years between GTA V and GTA VI. After more than 7 years can we please have something new to play? Do you want to go to San Fierro? Play San Andreas! Do you want to go to Liberty City? Play GTA IV! Why the hell should we have a big and empty map with 3 PS2 cities?

RDR2 is a completely different case, lots of characters were also in RDR1 and, from what I've understood (I've never played the first RDR, I know, I'm a bad person), stories in RDR2 and RDR1 are very very connected.

But, if you want all the previous cities in one map, this might be the only solution... But you'd have to move to NYC

Probably you are right and it won´t never be real. But just to make you understand that it would be the greatest map ever.

As you mentioned LS and LC would be pretty much as the citys we know from IV and V but graphically retouched. SA, SF and VC would be completly new designs in R* quality. Of course not retouched version from PS2 era.

This solution for your three questions/points is easy. The next GTA would be in 4K Universe, nothing connected to the 3D and HD Universe. So it´s possible to make one big map/isle including 5 cities. SA from HD Universe also does not connect to SA from 3D Universe, so the next one will be 4K Universe.

Yes, I want to go to SF. The possibilities we will have with the NG are not comparable with the ones from 3D Universe. I also would like to go back to LC, own there an apartment and ride with my personal car or bike around the city. Imagine the possibilities with the R* Editor.

Regarding the empty city. Well in Single player they won´t be empty and for Online. Well yes this could be a problem if you want a lot of action in free mode other Player would be happy about more peace. In the opposite there is still the possibility of Death matches etc. restricted in one area.

No, just no......makes no sense, you would have to have a ton of different cities to make an East Coast to West Coast map realistic. It would not happen and there would not make any sense.

Being from Norcal, i wouldn't mind it, but i can see how some people may be annoyed with the constant california atmosphere. (We californians love it tho.)

Adding San Fierro (an Sf parody) would be smart tho, because sf compared to most major cities in california has an east coast vibe, that some may like. I would hope they parody oakland as well, but that is just my biased.

I assumed the next would be Vice City because i would not assume that Rockstar would fall short of parodizing florida from the swamps, to the city life.

Ok, so adding to what some of you stated. There is a good chance there will be no N. SA, due to the fact that me and a lot of oflther people from NorCal think Rockstar tried combining north and southern california culture into one. There is several reasons, that would take me too long to describe. But i wouldnt be suprised if San Fierro is not even in the new GTA universe. If you look at grove street area where it becomes industrial and meahes the ghetto with the Elysian Island Area, and the stadium, it greatly resembles the Flat lands of the SF Bay Area. With the Bridge in the back ground, the stadium over hanging the the ghetto, (like the raiders stadium does in East Oakland, which resembles Grove street greatly.) I wrote a whole thread on this if you would like to find more reasons.

You make a lot of sense, and what supports it for me, even though people never believe or agree with me and I respect their opinion but, what supports it for me is that Chiliad is Mt Shasta (if you look at pics of both, it's just mirrored. But the GTA world is the mirrored world, so that makes sense, however the chiliad mural bears the shape I am describing to look for, yet is not mirrored). It's unmistakable when you drive by it, I have been to the places around it that resemble it on the outskirts, even though it's all at the end of the day just a big mash up (like salton sea is north instead of south east). I think it's a lot of places from the whole state, it's just wrapped in a spiral. Where SA you could envision as a straight road curled into a circle in some ways to make the circuit of the roads between the cities, in V it's like a spiral instead of a circle like it wrapped around twice or something. It's difficult to explain, but maybe you get the idea.

You are right in my opinion, there are a lot of little things. It's kind of like how GTA III's liberty city had a lot of things from Philadelphia, home of the Liberty Bell, for example. And Jersey/Alderney/Shoreside Vale, if you go to jersey shore to get out of NY for a bit, you go west then south to jersey shore. You go Shoreside for the weekend. Goofy ass rhode island weekend at bernies nerd speak, but that's what it is. people get excited "this time it has jersey, too" but III had it, too. I'm rambling, point I am trying to make is that I think "southern san andreas" marketing and all of that, sure, but I think it overdoes it because Chiliad is shasta in my eyes, and the map is really a "spiral" of what is a sort of [ shaped drive through the whole state, just curled around itself 2 times. I am greatly simplifying it, but I think you are right. And northern LS people do remind me a lot of some people in some places up in Reading, just, you know, comedic caricatures. I been right near the real life altruists lol. My wife has family with land near a commune lol.

I REALLY want GTA 6 to take place in Vice City, but it doesn't hafta JUST be that! There could be the Keys, a New Orleans-like town, a theme park like Disney (I guess Glory Hole Theme Park lol), and since Vice City is known for it's smuggling drugs, maybe Cuba and somewhere in Latin or South America as well! Vice City wouldn't be the only thing in the game! It'd just be the main city like Los Santos in 5, but still plenty more!

I hope there is never another game set in Los Angeles. never ever. never ever ever. its been done 2 times already. enough. same with Miami. I would be ok with them going back to New York again. or finally do Chicago or Detroit.

The most likely scenario is that it'll include several different locations you fly to.

Also I doubt it'll take until late into the 9th gen, though considering the Switch came out it'll be pretty late into the generation regardless.

All I want is Liberty City and VR support.

You need to consider that the inclusion of Redemption's map in its successor is primarily because of the continuity of the story. It's set in the same universe and tells the story of Dutch's gang that once roamed West Elizabeth, had trouble in Blackwater and then fled north to newly made parts of the universe's map. It works and it makes sense from a story perspective. Sure they've could told a completely different story that has nothing to do with Redemption and inherited the same map of NA and WE, but at the end it didn't happen. You can't simply suggest that GTA 6 will follow the same design unless you also propose that the game will connect to its predecessor story wise, so think of a prologue to the events of GTA 5 when Michael had to settle down in Los Santos. Telling a very different story, but using the same maps from an older game wouldn't feel right and impactful. Even RDR2 only had us playing in the older maps after the main story ended.

I think RDR2 could've easily ended at the end of Arthur's story and no one would complain(except for Micah's story which could be wrapped up there as well). The epilogue and NA seem like a DLC added by R*.

But then who'll we continue to play with? Surely they wouldn't revive Arthur so that we can continue to explore the open world. An epilogue was necessary following his death so that we can assume the role of the new protagonist.

They could let you play as Arthur pre finale again. Many games that have an eventful finale which means you can't play after the finale do that.

From a story (emotional) perspective, the way R* handled the transition was the most effective solution. Playing in a world that is now empty of Arthur and our old gang made it even harder emotionally. It's as effective as the transition at the end of Redemption, when you come back to the house at Beecher's Hope and find no body apart from Jack still alive. It really triggers something inside the player.

Well that's right. Still though I think the end could be like the end of RDR1. No new Austin. Just one mission to kill Micah(it takes place in RDR2 map as well). Just like Jack had one mission.
