GTA VI will be set in San Andreas and will include GTAV map

It's obvious that they are doing it:

- They have done it with RDR2

- They can save work and have a bigger map

- Vice City is not diverse enough: beaches and swamps at most.

- San Andreas with Last Venturas and San Fierro is the list diverse map they can set a GTA in.

GTA VI that will be released late into next gen (10 years from now) will be set in Liberty City and feature Rockstar version of Boston as well.

Change my mind.

How is the RDR1 map? Has it been redone completly? Or is it just a graphically improved version?

There was that rumor about GTA 6 being set in the entire USA a long time ago, not that's impossibile (look at the Crew series, it's a car game but it's still open world and they have done it.) but there are issues on bringing LC and LS to a next game. Why?

It's "physically" impossible to have GTA V or GTA IV map in GTA VI.

LS and LC are surrounded by water!

- Either they make them as islands (but at this point the state would look nothing like USA, it would seem like a huge conglomerate of islands rather than a continent)

- Or they change the geography of the islands, which would mean setting GTA VI in a new universe, which means there is no point in keeping the old city layouts

What I think can happen, at MOST, it's a GTA VI set on San Fierro + Las Venturas, or a much much greater Vice City, and the releasing as... DLCs, or online exclusive contents, graphically polished versions of LC or LS. Just as an extra.

But no way that we will visit the exact same cities in the storyline. It would be ridicolous for a game with bilons of dollars of budget to recicle map assets

I think it's FAR from obvious, but i had a similar vision while playing RDR II. Except its Liberty City with the originally planned Carraways (Mainland) in a different time, maybe the 90's, or the near future (2050?) - also including different seasons like in Forza Horizon. R* already tried a simplified version in GTA V, with snow only being a texture. Now in RDR II they have shown how damn good it can look. And there will be police dogs for sure! (can't remember if GTA V had some in the story)

It wouldn't be a total surprise if they did do this.

Rockstar has admitted that there initial plan and ambition was for V to be much bigger, but because of the limits in the software at the time, they weren't able to do everything they had planned.

I did find the map in V to be disappointing. To miss out so much of San Andreas just didn't feel right. So i wouldn't be against going back so soon to put that right.

Uhm Vice State will obviously be more than just beaches and swamps... If GTA VI revisits Vice City it will be more than just Vice City, but it would probably be a Rockstar version of Southern Florida, including Key West, Everglades, and possibly Tampa and Orlando. And Cuba and the Bahama's aren't far away either.

I used to live live in a psychic city
I never knew what would happen in a day
I might be looking out the window

I used to live in a voodoo city
Where every little thing had its own secret life
I might be washing up the dishes
And the kitchen might say

Damn it, you're probably right...

I think GTA VI will be the a great opportunity for Vice City though (like how everyone always stylizes it as GTA VIce). Also, I think everybody is kind of sick of San Andreas at this point. A lot of people want Vice City. Maybe they'll include V and IV, that would be something else.

Tbh, I really just want a new location. We got San Andreas and Liberty City remade. I feel like Vice City is obligatory now. Be nice to see something new, but I feel like they covered most of the archetypes.

I have seen some reports that GTA VI will take place in Vice City and South America.

It's all up in the air though now. VI most likely won't be released anytime soon give or sometime after 2020. An announcement also has to be made, then a trailer and release time. Anything now and as far as location is just speculation until R* makes an official announcement. Right now the focus is RDR2.

That would be something. It's all in the air. But obviously speaking on behalf of transient FL, surely parts of South Florida and not just Miami can be explored and the surrounding islands. If V had wild animals in the forests, then it's only fair that the wild animals would be gators and crocs. Several stories can come out of the areas via drug/other crime.

I think someone said in an interview that locations in GTA games aren't actually islands, they are merely presented as such.

Yes, the fact that cities are on islands is only a map-design decision made by Rockstar. While some software houses prefer to have a visible border inside their maps (like Watch Dogs 2, when you pass that border the game respanws you a few meters behind and a message saying "Go back to San Francisco!" will pop up), Rockstar prefers to make it invisible.

Rumors regarding the famous "Project Americas" (Vice City and South America) are probably fake, the news was reported by a YouTube channel and then it spreaded around all over the world.

I don't think that Rockstar will set the next GTA again in San Andreas, Los Santos and Blaine County are well made for sure, but after more than 5 years can we have something different? The example of RDR isn't applicable to GTA, RDR1 and RDR2 have a lot of connections and they share some important characters (John Marston, Bill Williamson, etc.), a GTA has only minor referencess to its previous chapters (like the strangers and freaks mission of Packie in GTA V). Vice Coty of course is the most obvious choice, but I remember of an interview to a Rockstar manager (Benzies?) who said "We can't imagine Vice City set in the modern days for the moment, it might destroy its '80 vibe".

But what if GTA VI won't be se set in the HD universe (with GTA IV and V)? Considering that GTA VI won't be out on current-gen systems, it might be placed in a sort of 4K universe, with new maps and complete new characters. And if this happens, I think we'll might come back to Liberty City (with countryside this time), which is normally the "start" of a new GTA universe.

What is in favor of Vice City as well is that no other game (to my knowledge) has recently recreated Miami, while the Watch Dog series have visited Chicago and San Francisco in their franchise.

I don't think so. Rockstar's imagination of Vice City in the III / ps2 era is definitely going to be so much different than the one in VI. Like i've said, if they will do Vice City, it's almost certainly going to be an entire representation of Southern Vice State. And Vice City is so small on the III era, that a new Vice City would completely feel different. It won't ruin that vibe. It's just going to be entirely different. I don't think IV destroyed III or that V destroyed San Andreas, and still both of them were very different than their PS2 era counterparts.

I think i would like Vice City, because i'm not yet ready for another Liberty City representation and i'm done with LS either, although i wouldn't oppose including it in the game anyway as long we see something new, like if they re-did all of San Andreas, i would be more than happy to see LV and SF back, but i think a VC state representation has the most potential, if done right. And they should learn from their mistakes in V as well and include mid-sized cities in it (because i like the concept of multiple cities), and Tampa and Orlando would make it awesome. They could also add Atlanta or New Orleans since it doesn't have to be exactly like the mirrored states in real-life, like Las Venturas was also in San Andreas. I would be disappointed though if we don't see at least a second city, because the map is going to be huge and you need to drive to some place (driving needs to have a "point" in this game), but i have a lot of trust in Rockstar when it comes to designing maps. I'm sure it's going to be great.

What i don't want as well is (and not possible either) is an entire representation of the USA, cause a lot of detail is going to get lost when you do that. In The Crew, you only drive in a car, and it's designed for racing, while the actual graphics are kinda ugly and the houses not flat / unique.

Midnight Hitman

I actually think that R* will release a game set in whole SA, not just Los Santos and only 1 county. I think it's kinda possible that R* will create a map that kinda incorporates an improved version of GTA V's map, all along with the other counties, towns and cities of San Andreas (like San Fierro and Las Venturas). I don't know if it could happen in VI, though. Maybe they save San Andreas for the next console generation?

Nah, it's GTA IX 😂

I only have some doubts regarding the universe of the next GTA, will it continue with the HD era or start a new "4K Era"?

Anyway Vice City is the most obvious choice for many reason, like these ones:

- It's the most requested

- It's the only "main city" that has never got a new version of the map (not counting San Fierro and Las Venturas)

- GTA VI contains "VI", it'd be very easy to associate that roman number with the 2 first letters of Vice City

- Many many references to VC in GTA V (and also in IV too)

Only God knows man.

At this point, I'd settle for any of those two options right now. I'd be happy with either. Personally I'd rather a new Vice City and South Florida, but if Rockstar can deliver San Fierro and Las Venturas with more towns, countryside, and wilderness with V graphics I'd be excited too.

Me too, but at least they'd have to upgrade the graphics considering that GTA VI will probably be only next gen... RDR2 is absolutely one of the best games ever made, GTA VI could seriously take the title as "the best GTA"  if they'll continue in this way and if they don't do the same mistakes they've done with GTA V.

Right now I'm playing GTA SA modded just to get that feel of travelling between different cities. If V had this, I'd play it more.

Until Rockstar stops wasting their single player potential and doing like 9 DLC stories with unique new characters release 2 a year, honestly, GTA is a backseat title now. "We need to rest it", no, you milk it. That's all you do is milk it. It hasn't rested. It's been updated with more reasons to buy shark cards (since no one with an actual life to live has time to get anything in that game any other way). That's not rest. It's titty milking.

GTA V should have had 2 stories a year for 15 or 20 dollars a piece. There is no excuse, especially not GTA Online, which is just a mechanical rip off of the community's MP mods from 2004.

Something is moving here in Europe regarding microtransactions and all these things that, IMO, have just ruined the videogame industry. Belgium has already classified lootboxes as gambling, from what I heard other countries, like Netherlands, would be ready to do the same in only a few years... There was also a document signed by lots of national videogames rating societies regarding microtransactions and videogames, in theory even Germany, France and Spain agreed on it!

If a lot of countries here will ban microtransactions and lootboxes, games with in-game purchases would become illegal and so they couldn't be rated, publishers will have to remove them if they want to release the game in Europe. Sadly here in Italy we can't help so much on this topic, here no one cares about videogames that are still seen as "electronic games made for kids" (no, we aren't in 1978 ;))... "GTA V is violent! This electronic game will hurt them! Oh really? Maybe 'cause it's PEGI 18, uh?"

Anyway I'm really hoping in the other european countries that finally understood how videogames are a form of art and culture, just like movies. Let's all hope to see something happen before it's too late, I don't want to see Shark Cards 2.0 in GTA VI.

Regarding the story DLCs, one/two were more than enough for GTA IV, now that we have to wait at least 8 years for seeing a new GTA I think that 3 could be a good number. The price will probably be around 30-40$, having 2 stories a year for only 15 bucks is a pipe dream... And I don't know if I'd like to see so many stories added, I don't want to see quantity over quality. I'd be happy even with just 2 DLCs if they're like TLaD and TBoGT.

True, a story every six months is a bit reaching. 30 bucks for a story every year, though, they would definitely make "even more" than they did with shark cards, no doubt in my mind. People would play the online until a new story comes, then go play that for a while. They try to do unique things every time, which is great. Even the LCS episodes were each unique. However, it's okay to go serial when the games are taking 5 years to a decade or somewhere in that ball park at this point. It's an opportunity. They could dedicate a team to serial work in these massive worlds, make their investors really happy.
