Things you didn't know about RDR2 until now

Recommended Posts

When bounty hunters are looking for you, ominous music will start playing. (Very useful as I play with the map off, and there would otherwise be no way for me to know I'm about to be ambushed lol)

-Dutch has books in his tent you can pick up and read

-If you spend too much time in Dutch’s tent he shoves you out

Not positive, but I'm somewhat sure you can lasso dead bodies. I killed a moose on a partly frozen lake in the Grizzlies and it fell in the water right next to an ice shelf. I couldn't think of a way to get it out so I just tried lassoing it, and I was indeed able to drag it toward me for a few feet - unfortunately the lasso seemed to disconnect after that and the moose sank to the bottom!

Anybody know how to keep a hat you grab after shooting someone??

Try saving it as a custom outfit. These can be stored on your horse.

Wow, I didn’t know this until now but if you double tap the L1/LB button, Arthur spins the revolver and places it back in the hostler. I actually never knew that until today. lol

I'm hanging out in the burned down town of Limpany. All of the structures are burned down except for the jail. In the jail there are two corpses apparently dead from starvation/thirst. I'm gonna spend the night here to see if there's any ghosts

-At night in the camp, I saw Dutch's tent closed so I assume some of the members close their tents when sleeping.

-Not sure why but drinking whiskey in the camp will not make you really drunk, on the other hand drinking whiskey shot in a saloon will f*ck you up and if you drink too much you will wake up outside on the ground.

Not exaclty a specific thing but...

If you're looking to kill NPCs with the pistol, there's a interesting way. Aim assist is on. So what you do is aim first, but then quickly release the aim button and spam R2/RT.

When you shoot with the right trigger only, Arthur will quickly shoot like this. Since you have the aim assist, all the bullets will hit the target.

Some more things:

- As people have said, you can hear Arthur singing/whistling while riding.

- Animals can kill another animals. The first time i've seen this was up north in the mountains. A bear was alone against 4 wolves. He stand his ground with his roar and the wolves got scared.

- You can hear some "exciting" moans from buildings, just like in Witcher 3 through Novigrad.  ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

- The bandana will ALWAYS be available in your horse. You can see a note below in the clothing menu saying that.

- The drinks you get from a Saloon are pretty useful to fill up your bars. I think they're better than simple fruits.

- Press DOWN on D-PAD in 1st person view to have a look at the iron sight.

- Bullets can go through tents!

- The only effect the bandana have is to maintain your honor. If you're looking to stay out of bounties, use a mask. Also, create a specific set of clothes for crime activities. I may be very wrong, but i think people can remember what clothes you use.

- Don't shoot your own canoe.

- I'm still messing with the Cinematic Mode, but i think you can set an auto-path with this. You go to a road, set your waypoint and voila! The horse will follow the road until the destination. Useful if you don't like long trips. Just be careful with random encounters.

- You can roll while aiming with square/X.

- Arthur animations with the horses changes depending on your affection level. At level 1, he have a simple mounting animation. At maximum, he always pet the horse before start moving.

- You can use 2 horses at the same time. It's useful for hunting. Break a second horse and order it to follow you. Makes me wonder if i can use Wagons...?

Oh... and one last thing: Use you goddamn binoculars when hunting!

I'm still messing with that "hunting vision", but i wonder... can we hide from animals in thick bushes? Or at least hide our smell?

-There is sometimes almonds in a bowl at the bar in Valentine's saloon, you can eat some. I'm not sure if this is the case for every saloon.

-I was arriving at Valentine's saloon and I saw two fella walking out, talking to each other, "they fellers are cheaters" and one of them bumped into a guy while walking out, he pushed that guy down the stairs and insulted him, then they mounted on their horses and ride away.

That poor guy was all dirty and was probably walking home, I asked "You alright there?", he answered but I don't remember what he said.

-The prostitutes in Valentine's hotel actually go to work in the Saloon.

-The general store in Valentine don't have any foods outside when closed.

-NPC's actually go to the saloon, drink and get drunk and then walk away f*cked up.

-The bartender in Valentine's saloon have family in Saint Denis.

-If you slightly tilt the left stick, Arthur will walk slowly, it is actually a different animation that when he walk at a normal speed.

I didn't know random events could give you leads to other side activities.
Got a lead on a homestead robbery by talking to a person after a random event.

I didn't know the Stranger missions and side activities were going to be so cinematic, as if they were actual missions. They have their own cutscenes and all. There's like a whole 'nother campaign to go along with the actual campaign.

Being able to craft more than just simple tonics.

When I picked up my hat after it was shoot off my head, there was a bullet hole in it, which I noticed in cut scene.

After another shoot out where my hat was shoot off again there was two holes in it, after recovering my hat from horse saddle later on, the holes disappear... cool non the less. :)

During nighttime, I killed an enemy who stood behind a lantern. His blood turned light because of the fire from the small lantern.

In the burnt out Sheriffs office in Limpany there is a $500 gold bar under the counter.

Loving these posts guys and girls! Lots of useful tips too!

I was riding my horse and a wolf came at us to attack. I blasted it with my shotgun, and the whole incident really spooked my horse causing it to rear up. I patted and calmed it with soothing words using the controller stick and it soon relaxed.

Love the detail in this game and how the makers have thought of so many different things.

You just reminded me about this incident - I was traveling at night and I got ambushed by O' Driscols (sorry for spelling) one rider had lantern on his horse and I accidently shoot it, guy went up on fire along with his horse. Horse threw guy down and run away in flames, guy felt on the ground while screaming and started rolling to put out fire (unsuccessfully tho.). It was horrible and awesome at the same time...

Probably mentioned, but you can feed people to the pigs.

-I saw an NPC arriving cautiously with a rifle in his hand at a scene with dead bodies all around (they were bounty hunters and I killed them).

-Bloods spread in water.

-Just in Valentine, outside near the big camp, two guy arguing about cheating;

Guy 1: "Why don't you talk with your pistol?"

Guy 2: "Fine by me"

They made a duel and one of them died.

-When travelling around the world, if you are riding fast arriving in front of a rider(s) he/they will let you pass by going on the side.

In addition with the duel, you can challenge the guy that shot the other dude to a duel and shoot him dead as well.

In Valentine, you can actually witness a public hanging.

If you play missions a certain way and they involve the same location, the dialogue can change depending on what order you did them in.

-When taking off your hat, Arthur will sometimes touch his hair.

-I saw a guy in the barber chair in Valentine's saloon, looked like he was getting a beard cut.

-When entering Valentine's saloon, a drunk guy bumped into me, he asked a duel, I refused..then I followed him outside, he passed out against a wall so I approached him and said "Drunk fools.." he struggled to get on his feet and started to attack me, so I beat him lmao.
