I didn't realise until a couple of days ago that you could skip to cinematic camera heading to destination at 'top speed'. I used to hold the button for cinematic by stopping myself spamming x and therefore would slow down to a trott...anyway, I use this quite oftan now.

Completely off topic but is there a map anywhere that has all the markings filled in so I can see what I missed. I was watching a youtube video on an Owl location and noticed their map had markings/drawings in it that I haven't discovered yet. I never found that gorilla in the box...or the mammoth bones etc.

I use this map-it does have Spoilers on locations and such but it very detailed on all the stuff one can miss.

I keep it on my PC-which is not in the same room as my console.  When I replace my phone in a couple of weeks I will use it from the phone/tablet by the console for easier access.

You can still shoot into Wapiti and kill the natives from outside of the No Weapon Zone

EDIT: Guess it only works in certain spots

I've just started to notice there's a difference between outside temperature compared to indoors. Like if you're somewhere where it's freezing outside and go inside a cabin with a fire going the temperature will change drammatically. It's one of those things that most people would never really notice, but I was curious and yeah that's what it does.

The details in this game continue to boggle my mind and will for years to come.

I found out the hard way. Rode up to Colter and forgot an outfit for the cold. So Arthur was freezing his ass off in jeans and a shirt until I entered the big house in Colter. Temperature went up from around -5 to 16 C.

Implicitly

If you are covered in blood and walk into camp it'll trigger more dialog responses from your camp members. If you also show up dirty, it'll trigger a scene with Susan. I also had no idea you could drag elk around and some other large animals with the lasso until last minute.

Hold Y/Triangle when your on your horse and stationary. Very inconsistent when it happens though.

I think it has to be soft ground or near a bush or tree

Arthur has written in his journal that he should have married Abigail before she fell properly in love with John but having Mary on his mind deterred him.

There’s a beautifully fully detailed seamstress shop in St Denis that’s vacant. I wonder if it was originally supposed to be tailor of sorts? It even has a function cash register that you can rob, I don’t think I got anything though

Maybe? It has like a flowered section in the front, opens up in the back, glass ceiling. When you walk past the flowered section the counter is to the left, full length mirror on the wall, bunch of fancy lady hats up high to the right. You can search a Sewing machine and if you climb atop the mannequin thing you can loot a box in the high cabinet, nothing in there though

While roaming around Rhodes there was a random event in front of the gun store. Two NPCs were dicking around with a revolver resulting in one of them being accidentally shot in the head. The shooter then ran away. I decided to pursue him and tied him up to turn him in. I didn't think it would actually work, but it did! The sheriff told me to throw him in a jail cell and I got a small reward of seven dollars and change.

Arthur appears to be ambidextrous,  this is noticeable when shooting a bow from horseback.

Finishing the game with neutral honor gets you the bad ending

During the final mission during the chase, you can shoot Dutch and Micah but won't do any damage

If you try to dfo the gunshop-basement thing, screw up cause you are not used to the new PS$ controller but the Xbone one and get into a shootout inside the gunshop.  If you hide and the Law don't find you-the gunshop is then unaccesible [[including the side mission]] with you inside of it.  GS owner will stand at his counter and completely ignore you.  I slit his throat, robbed him then went and camped for a day before going back.

You can shoot Cleet and Joe as well. Those two even show up on the map as enemies (though Micah and Dutch don't), which made me think on my first playthrough you could kill them if you were quick enough. First time I played I noticed that, so I went back to try and shoot them, but I got the mission failed screen for losing John before I could even aim or go into Dead Eye, so I decided I'd try it again later on, or see if a better opportunity for it arose in the mission. When I saw they were in the final mission, I wondered if killing them was even possible, and if it was, if it would change how that mission went down (in Cleet's case; in Joe's I could see him being replaced by some random henchman). So I replayed the mission to test if they could be killed, but no such luck, though I did discover that all four men and their horses can be shot. You can shoot them with anything anywhere and nothing happens. Interestingly, the four of them also have their vital spots show up when you go into Dead Eye. Same for their horses. Can't mark any of them though.

On a related note, I tried something on my second playthrough. When the Pinkertons ambush the remnants of the gang at the camp, there's a window of about fifteen seconds where Dutch and the rest fight back before they flee. I lobbed a stick of dynamite at them to see if killing them would make the mission fail. Yeah, as it turns out, it doesn't even kill them. Four people (one of whom was Dutch) went flying into the air, landed, then got up and ran away really fast. Joe, who wasn't even hit by the blast, also stopped shooting and proceeded to run really fast with the rest of them. It was hilarious. On my next playthrough (or when I load up my save before the final missions) I'm gonna see if throwing a fire bottle has any effect.

Not sure if I've mentioned it here or not, but if I have I'm gonna gripe about it anyways because it needs restating, haha. The two missions where the hideout is attacked ("Fleeting Joy" and "Horsemen, Apocalypses"), there are gang members missing for no apparent reason: Mary-Beth, Karen and Jack are nowhere to be found in Fleeting Joy; Jack's absence is pretty major, seeing as how you can see Abigail. The latter instance is the most egregious though, because not only are Bill, Micah, Lenny, Javier, Tilly and Uncle nowhere to be found, all but Lenny have dialogue about the attack. Trelawny is nowhere to be found in either mission, though I can be more forgiving concerning that since he's a wanderer anyways. Also in Fleeting Joy, Charles and Javier don't do anything to help you at any point, and Dutch and Micah also barely do anything. Micah makes sense though, given later revelations, and I guess Javier was still recovering from the Guarma stuff, but the other ones are way less forgivable. Must be due to AI limitations, I guess?

During the first mission, you can see a little X on the map, indicating Davey's corpse. But if you try and look through the windows, you can't see his body because it's just out of view. You also can't see Miss Grimshaw or Javier for the same reason, I'm assuming. Can't wait for someone to glitch into there.

Of the 88 missions (plus 14-15 friend activities), Dutch, Bill and Charles appear as allies most, doing so in 28, 21 and 20 missions, respectively. Javier, Micah, John, Lenny and Sadie are the only others that do so ten or more times (for those curious: 18, 17, 16, 11, 10). Hosea is an ally 9 times, and everyone else is five or below. Molly is the only gang member to never appear as an ally in a mission (unless you count her appearance in Horsemen, Apocalypses, which I sort of do since I counted it for all the characters who don't help in the active shooting, but some might not). For John, Charles is an ally 6 times, Sadie and Uncle 5 times each, Jack 4 times and Abigail, Abe and Dickens twice each.

Miss Grimshaw and Karen are the only members of the gang to never start a mission or companion activity. Miss Grimshaw is the primary instructor in "No, No and Thrice No" and Karen is a big part of "Sodom? Back to Gomorrah," but the missions are started by talking to Mary-Beth and Bill, respectively. Tilly, Sean and Javier never start a mission, but they do start friend activities. Mary-Beth and Molly only start one mission each, but neither participate in the ensuing activities.

That was a whole lot of random facts and trivia for you all, haha. Also, Merry Christmas everybody! :)

Cleet and Joe do not know how to fight. Joe doesn't do anything but ride a horse during "Our Best Selves" and Cleet runs right past the guards on the train. The only time you see them "fighting" is for about fifteen seconds in the next mission. Then both of them go down rather easily in the final mission. (This part of the post was a silly joke I just thought of, pay it no serious mind :D)

Dutch gives the most missions out of any other character, with 15. Yeah, I thought it was more too, but it's about double what Sadie gives. She gives eight through the whole game, which is the second most of any character.

This is right, it just took a really really long time for him to respawn. Pretty much everyone in town had to forget I killed him first

If you take a bounty to the wrong room(like a doctor's office or general store) the shopkeeper will ask you to leave and not to bring wanted people inside the store and Arthur says don't worry about it.

It seems you can lead the law near camp as long as you aren't still there when you lose the wanted level

Enemies can shoot a fire bottle out of your hand, which will set you on fire

When doing the Van Horn to Blackwater Dry Dash, you can jump the broken bridge leading to the great plains to save a ton of time

Just noticed that Rev Swanson injects John with morphine in the beginning of "Who the hell is Leviticus Cornwall?" So THAT'S what Arthur meant by asking Swanson if he's introducing John to his "other" hobby.

Same here!

Screwing around in Armadillo and decided to harass Herbert. Robbed him like three times. Go to rob him a fourth and he says

"Lord, why have you abandoned your best friend?"

... The way he says it.

Also, you cannot pick up Herbert Moon's body before or after being shot. (I'm working on a theory about burning all the dead bodies in Armadillo in the firepits.) Oddly enough, Herbert you cannot feed to the flames.

You can do a cool animation with a pistol\revolver by double tapping the holster weapon button, as seen in the gameplay trailer (at the end). However it only works with the weapon in the right-side holster apparently.

You can also jump from a height and auto-mount your horse as long as you aim in its general direction.

This one's kinda known, but if you go to New Austin as Arthur (using that mission glitch to remove the wanted level) he will actually be able to do some of the missions\random encounters and will scribble things in his diary and say some unique lines. It's odd but perhaps R* originally intended to let Arthur go back before the gang was disbanded.

Arthur doesn't get cold until the weather drops below freezing (32° Fahrenheit)

To quickly get your horse out of Malnourished Status use the Horse Care service at the stable, it will bring it from Malnourished to Fit

If it starts to rain while you are resting by a fire, you will automatically move from a sitting position to a kneeling one

If it rains (also true in snowy areas) the game will automatically set-up a tent to hide from the rain. Initiating crafting will reset the weather partially and get rid of the rain (at least temporarily).

Finished my first playthru so need to find that glitch.  Saw someone do it on Youtoob but he was concerned how it would affect the final when you revert to Marston-say looting locations, taking items that John might need and they would not be there later sort of thing.

I'll do it when the game comes out on PC. I didn't do the entire Compendium stuff but will try to do in my next 100% playthrough on PC.

This is incorrect, you simply have to stable/switch the horse and then take it back out.
