Cant talk in game with LT

Hi All, Playing on Xbox one, still at the very beginning of the game because LT doesn't seem to work to interact with NPC's, noticed when riding through the snow that got no interactions when pressing LT and then in the barn after fist fight supposed to hold LT but no interaction is coming up to interrogate, great game when my first two hours I haven't got past the first 5 minutes. Any help would be greatly appreciated

ok so what I was using was an Xbox one elite controller, I grabbed another normal controller restarted the game and tried it with that. It works now. I got the idea from another post about some PS4 controllers not working and thought maybe Xbox have a similar problem which it looks like they do.
