Crazy to think that this game is almost a year old. I remember three years ago when it was announced and here we are now. The hype was definitely worth it. Incredible game and I’ve been hooked ever since.

I still cant quite believe how well RDR2's single player has grabbed me.... out of over 400 games and in the space of about 16 years there have only been a handful of games I've played for over 100 hours (I've got a really damn short attention span lol) Since RDR2's release I havent gone more than a week without playing and am currently at just over 270 hours of game time. I havent touched online and have precisely zero interest in ever doing so, but the single player world is so insanely well crafted I just dont lose interest. Despite Rockstar stating the SP story was approx 80 hours long, it took me 130 hours on my first playthrough and an additional 130 on my 2nd playthrough. And to be honest I expected to lose interest by then, but no. 3rd playthrough and I'm 10+ hours in and still enjoying it as much as I was 100 hours ago. I jokingly pray daily for single player DLC but dont hold out much hope xD

I haven't gotten tired of playing either. I have hundreds of hours of play time. During my initial play I learned a lot. The second time I turned off auto save and manually saved at various points. I saved a game when the gang first gets to Horseshoe and at various points all the way up to 100%. I'll sometimes load that early one and play for several hours. I have 15% to 100% completed story saves. Sometimes Arthur sometimes John.

Yeah it's pretty mad how time fly's, reading back at some of the posts on this thread...the hype was real & now we're only a few days into the pc release to start the journey again on a new machine!

Yeah, i'm not jealous of those to experience this game for the first time, not at all. ;)

1 year since release and I would guess that I've played this game 330 of 365 days. Still absolutely love it. Reached 100% a couple months ago, but still enjoy the small things. Just going on long hunting trips or fishing, playing poker and being part of the world is what I love to do. I mainly play video games these days to relax and RDR2 is just that for me. About 4 months ago I started playing without auto aim and the HUD completely off, which really added a whole new level of immersion. What a masterpiece this game is. Of course, there are small things I wish were in the game or some things changed, but overall it's amazing.

I really hope console versions will get the online weapons and maybe new bounty missions as well after the PC release.

The only game which I've truly enjoyed and found myself immersed in since Redemption and Mafia 2 of 2010. Happy 1st anniversary!

Since Red Dead Redemption came out, many people wanted to see a possible prequel to it. They wanted to see what the gang John was in was like. They wanted to see the backstory and how things went down.
A year ago today we got our wish. Red Dead Redemption 2 was released, a beautiful and emotional story of the Van der Linde Gang’s fall through the eyes of one of its most trusted members Arthur Morgan. Not only did we get the other half of John Marston’s story or the story of the Van der Linde Gang.... we got the story of Arthur Morgan. A amazing character who will continue to be enjoyed and loved by many!
This is a wonderful community and over the past year getting to watch it grow and interact with it has been incredible. This is to many more years of fun.
Happy First Birthday Red Dead Redemption 2

Man, looking back - that was a great teaser trailer. Gave us just enough to get excited (and get mapping) but didn't reveal anything significant about the game.

Rockstar game releases are just such an event nowadays. Noone else can build up a game like they can (and no one else can build a world like them either).

It's frustrating how rare they are nowadays...….but I guess that just helps to grow the lore even more.

They do an amazing job of not forcing you into too long of a cutscene at once. They way you might be riding horses and the camera switches while conversations take place and then maybe 30 seconds later the action is back. Even the longer scenes are not too long, they have a lot of them and spread them out very nicely.

The game is far from perfect, but definitely one of the better games in recent memory.

One of the most graphically beautiful games I've ever played. Even on a standard slim PS4, I was still blown away by the attention to detail, environments and the way the NPC's react and just feel real. It might have some flaws, but nothing that stops it from being an incredible experience. Looks even crazier on PC, just looking at the screenshots and I'm mindblown at how games look in 2019.

I really like what they did with the Cattleman Revolver. Instead of the dogsh*t pea shooter that was the RDR1 Cattleman, the RDR2 rendition is a very capable, well-rounded firearm with a classic look to boot.

Arthur Morgan. A amazing character who will continue to be enjoyed and loved by many!

Arthur Morgan is that lovable rogue. He's one of my favourite videogame characters. I'm really thankful to have a character I love so much, in a game I love so much. Everything he says and does just seem really consistent. And depending on which side you get of him, he can be your worst enemy for the friendliest stranger. He has a way of speaking his mind without being really offensive. I don't know what it is. I think he could be Rockstar's greatest protagonist.

Rockstar went above and beyond developing this game. I'm still playing it a year later and still haven't finished the story. I do put it down for periods but I love coming back to it. I kind of don't want the story to end. It's like my gf watching The Sopranos. She didn't want to finish it because then it will be over.

I don't know how people can rush through the story and finish it in a week. Even people that completed it 100% so quickly. I can't do it. I'm going to aim for 100%. Only other game I completed 100% was San Andreas. I think RDR2 is really worthy of the attempt.

It's the best 60 quid I've invested in a long time. I hope more of these masterpieces are in Rockstar. Pity about the Online business model they marred their work with but at least the single player is near perfect.

Nulla Lex Ink.

Discovered a new random encounter (NOT a brand new one, just a new one for me). Was riding around Colter and ran into this guy looking for his friend Tucker. Found his friend nearby, frozen to death, and then after informing him of his friend's fate he ran to his body. Then a bear ran up and attacked the hunter while he mourned, and I must have shot it fifteen or twenty times with my shotgun but it didn't die until after the hunter had. That isn't by any means an unknown encounter (I found it in the guide while trying to find the friend), but it was the first time I had experienced it and I hadn't heard anyone talking about it, so it was like a brand new thing for me.

I love that even after playing through this three times I'm still seeing new stuff like that. I've never had a game stay in that "new game" phase for me for so long, where I'm finding new stuff all over the place and noticing little details everywhere and having my mind blown by it. But over a year later, RDR2 is still delivering that feeling for me. I still have yet to get a file to 100% (Only things I haven't done are the challenges, because they sound frustrating as hell, finding the squirrel statue over and over and visiting the graves), but I have done the whole story and ALL of the stranger ones, even the one that calls for collecting all those plants and flowers five times over. And yet, I still have the urge to start a new file and do (most) of it all again.

I'm thinking of building a gaming PC soon but have been hesitant since it's such a big investment and I'm not too big of a gamer anymore. But honestly, when I think about how much I've already played RDR2 and how much I still want to play it even without the extra fun that comes from mods, I think I'll go ahead and do it as soon as possible. The game has already proven I will definitely get my money's worth and then some :)

There are few things in this game more satisfying than kicking a goat after it knocks you down.
