I love this game so much I want RDR3 to star Landon Ricketts and be set in the very old west glory days, maybe run into a young Hosea, Arthur and Dutch.

From what I've seen from RDR2 teh game is everything I wanted sadly im a PC gamer and guess R* is busy milking onliner as much as they can so we gotta wait but  one thing I got to say when it comes out I'm probably gonna play a lot I can feel it. RDR2 feels like the old R*  games I've played for so many time and I never got bored, GTA SA GTA Vice City now RDR2. Thanks god they're on the old way to make fun games that you wont be bored also I don;'t care about online.

The dynamic NPCs just going about their business is some of the most immersive stuff I’ve seen in a video game. I love how you can greet people, and the dialogue changes based on time of day. In smaller towns especially, it makes everything feel so alive and real. In RDR I used to put my bandana on and wantonly kill people to watch the euphoria physics- they died like real people. In RDR2 I don’t want to do anything like that, because they LIVE like real people.

Love that simulation aspect.

I was day one.  Loved it.  Then it a got a bit long due to no real progression arch and I drifted away from it during chapter 6.

Picked it back up last night and played for hours.  Now I'm excited to play through to the end.

I'm even more excited to start a fresh playthrough and really immerse myself.  My first playthrough of games is always with just seeing what's next while getting to the end...I tend to miss a lot of the small stuff that doesn't count toward the end game.

Slow burning RDR2 could take years if you wanted to play from start to finish...but it might be a fun way to sink I to the game.

And I ramble.

I just hit 54% overall completion and close to 7 days play time. I'm getting more than my value for money from this. I just hope that when Rockstar employees feel down or someone is unjustly criticizing the the singleplayer experience, that they know there are people like me, soaking in as much detail as possible and having a very rich RDR2 experience. All the hard effort and all those minute details are very much appreciated.

I think RDR2 might be my favorite game now. It's up there with San Andreas for me anyway. Every vista is like a painting. The way the light travels through the trees and catches the smoke. The dynamic weather system brings real atmosphere, especially when a bit of mist is caught by the morning sunrise.

Like real life, it's equally beautiful as it is brutal. Yesterday I did a bounty and the bounty's friends tried to rescue him. Unfortunately for them I had a double-barrel shotgun at the ready. I blasted two of them in the head and shot the foot off another guy. The blood spatter alone was a glorious thing to behold.

Can we all just take a moment to appreciate this. Arthur killed a squirrel...

Benjamin Bryron Davis (Dutch) was one of the first to cast his dismay, but Clarke's response was hilarious

I haven't really commented on Arthur Morgan yet. For me, he's almost the perfect protagonist. He didn't whine and bitch like Niko, Michael and Trevor. 10 years of moaning protagonists. Arthur, like CJ and Tommy Vercetti, just got things done. They didn't complain much. They weren't little drama queens. Not to sound negative about other characters people love, it's just something I thought was a growing trend with Rockstar. Well, maybe not a trend but it was too recurring.

Morgan is so likeable. He's street-wise. He's quite loyal. If found a lot Michael and Trevor too bitchy. Complaining. Moaning. They aren't fun people to be around at least not as a gamer trying to escape that and delve in to another fantasy. Maybe it works in film or TV. A more passive form of entertainment. But when I'm in control, I want to have a certain control of the narrative. And maybe "my narrative" isn't a moany complainer and I can't not play as a moany complainer in GTA V because there's too much projection of the character on to the player. Whereas a more silent or less vocal or ambiguous character, you can mould into your own narrative, thus creating a beautifull immersive marriage between player and character.

I used to joke and reference Tony Soprano when he said "Whatever happened Gary Cooper, the strong, silent type." - While I get irony of the situation of a man that's fascinating because we're watching him in therapy and I'm an advocate of therapy, he makes a point - and that point is valid to me in terms of videogame mechanics and how it can help facilitate and bond or immersive experience with the character. Basically, you projecting your tastes and personality on to the character and not the other way around like Trevor and Michael did.

My point is Arthur Morgan ticks this kind of box. He has character and personality but not too much that he's brashly projecting on the player. You don't want a completely blank canvas either unless it's a RPG, but just enough character to enjoy the story.  And not too much so you can put your own flavour into the mix.

I finished my second playthough I'm in the epilogue. Been fishing with John. I'm going for 100% and platinum. Overall I loved experiencing the game again and am still loving playing it. I made sure to save in each chapter this time so I can go back and play as Arhur whenever I want. It would be nice to get a Singleplayer expansion like Undead Nightmare for those who aren't that keen of the online mode. I'm not sure whats going on at Rockstar but I hope they're working on one as it's what the majority want and clearly have been vocal about it on their posts.

But RDR2 as a whole is a work of art, a solid and worthy sequel/prequel to Red Dead Redemption that stands on its own two feet. OUTLAWS FOR LIFE.

I love John's whining about Abigail in the early chapters. Him saying we would all gladly kill our wives if it were legal, and another time when he tries to get real drunk and Abigail is constantly calling him from across the camp: "John! John!" "I wish she would shut up! Why won't she just shut up!? Look guys, I'm not here" then he slinks away out of camp.

He's an immature dunderhead, but the acting is great.

Pretty good hunting trip, grabbed another Gila Monster as he was running by, didn't even have to look for it, finally after about a half hour of combing the desert I found the Armadillo I was looking for, little bastard ran faster than my horse, finally killed it after it hid in a bush. I never realized how helpful eagle eye would be when they first showcased it.

A few more Peccary Pigs and I won't have any reason to go back into the desert anymore!

What I fear the most is never getting a quality release like this game ever again. I've put all my efforts on my first playthrough during a vacation, almost 100% it. Started it again but stopped because of shortage of spare time, will resume soon. It's a masterpiece and even after months of hiatus there's no day that I don't remember it, be it a character, a song, a quote, anything. I wish I could erase my memory and live it again.

I haven't played this game in a few months but will start my second playthrough soon. The first playthrough was no doubt one of my favourite video game experiences of all time. It's rare these days to experience such a memorable game that really stays with you long after you have played it. I play lots of games but most are generic and forgettable

True, I think it's very doubtful that GTA VI will be this great. It will be more of a mass appeal game like GTA V which is still good but ultimately shallow in comparison with RDR2 which was very well crafted in every way and unforgettable.

This still is so poetic in a way. Arthur and Jack enjoyed a little fishing trip together when they get confronted by the pinkertons and years later Jack confronts Edgar Ross in a similar way with Ross enjoying a little fishing by the river which would be his last.

This is why Rockstar are masters of Storytelling. Love the foreshadowing, a real memoir for the fans.

Really makes me want that RDR1 remaster DLC to be a reality. Would love to play through that story in remastered glory with RDR2's mechanics.

Whoa! Whenever I play Red Dead Redemption now I can’t unsee this image.

(Different styles but the similarities with the tan jacket and black pants are a mindf*ck moment. I mean, Arthur wasn’t a thought back when Red Dead Redemption was developed but playing it now I like to imagine Jack copying Arthur’s suave style.) :D

This plays during nighttime in different states, but when it does in the nights of New Austin, especially in Gaptooth Ridge and Rio Bravo, it adds a layer of creepiness to the desolate desert.

Nulla Lex Ink.

I started up my third playthrough awhile back. Did as much as a I could before Chapter 6's conclusion, and while I got a little frustrated with the fetch quests (particularly "Duchesses" and the taxidermy stuff), I have yet to get bored with ANYTHING this game has to offer. Playing the stranger missions never felt like a chore even the third time around. I stopped after the mission "My Last Boy" awhile back because of stuff in my personal life, and getting pretty sick, but I think I'll be back to it soon. And once I've finished the playthrough, I'll want to play it over again because that's how good this game is to me. Closing in on eight months since the release and not a day goes by that I don't think of playing this game, quote it, reference it or listen to a piece of its soundtrack. I'm not kidding when I say I'm a little bit obsessed with it, but unlike a lot of games I obsess over, I don't feel like it needs more to it. Most other games, I'd be wanting DLC or something of the like, but this, it's a complete package. DLC would be lovely if it happened, but if it doesn't I won't be sore about it because this was a full game and then some.

And it's great that I and so many others got to experience that feeling. I've never experienced it with any other game, and I don't think I ever will again, least not for a good long while. Even the IV trilogy, which I played to completion multiple times YEARS after its release, had me getting disinterested for about a month or two before picking them back up. The original Red Dead Redemption was also an obsession for a couple months but eventually I put it down and didn't touch it again for a good while. This game, while I haven't played it every single day, I still love it as much as the day I first popped it into my PS4. Barring my sudden death, I got many more playthroughs of it, where I'll once again play the stranger missions as well as the story because they just feel so fun.

Got a couple of other things I wanna say, spoiler marking them since they do pertain to story things.

Spoiler

A common complaint I've seen is that Arthur never kills any of the main antagonists - That is, Colm, Milton, Cornwall and Micah. I'll admit, at first I didn't like this either, because the game did such a good job making me hate them, even though most of them were only seen in three or less missions! But then I got to thinking of it and eventually it kind of grew on me. In any other game, Arthur would have killed all of them, as well as Mrs. Braithewaite and Angelo Bronte. The fact that he didn't kind of makes me think of some TV show antihero protagonists, such as Tony Soprano, Walter White and Vic Mackey. Yeah, they did get to kill some bad guys, but the focal antagonists usually weren't done in by them, and likewise Arthur killed a couple, like Sheriff Gray, Fussar and Favours. Taking down the threat was never the main point of those characters I mentioned though, it was all about development, just like it ended up being with Arthur.

Also, while some characters didn't really get to appear in many missions, I still felt a strong fondness for just about everyone in the gang because of the small interactions Arthur could have with them and that you could hear around camp. A good example I can give is Tilly. She's barely in any story missions but I liked her and felt like I had a good grasp of who she was. I like her so much that during "No, No and Thrice No," I've so far been incapable of letting Anthony Foreman live. I know that there is an optional thing later in the game if you let him live, but man, I don't know, three times so far and I haven't been able to. Seeing all those bruises on Tilly and knowing how awful these guys had to be to drive her to murder... I just gotta kill him. I'm that invested in her and care about the character that much despite her having such a small story presence.

On the TV show comparison, this game actually felt kind of like a TV show with its various arcs. Season 1 would have been chapters 1/2, 2 would be 3, 3 would be 4 and 4 would be 5/6. Then 5 could be the epilogues, and then RDR could be probably three more seasons. It's an amazing story that could have worked as anything in my opinion, and while I would have enjoyed it in any medium, I am so glad we got to experience it as a video game.

Anyways, that's enough of the love letter writing for now. I don't know, that was probably all over the place, but I felt like gushing about this amazing work of art :)

My favorite free roam soundtrack!

This is Lemoyne's main theme for foggy nights at Scarlett Meadows, Bluewater Marsh and Bayou Nwa, it also plays when you are about to have one Night Folk Random Event or right after it. The reason it plays in New Austin too sometimes is beacause both Lemoyne and New Austin shares the same soundtracks sometimes.

I just learned that one of the people who Sadie hits (with the glass cup) in the Valentine bar once John leaves pronghorn is the same guy who drunkenly harasses Arthur near the start of a quiet time. The little callbacks in this game never cease to amaze me.
