Digital or Physical?

Recommended Posts

NintendoFanboy

With big games I like to do digital since I'll be playing quite often and I won't have to bother with a disk and wear and tear on the drive.

But physical comes with map and some extras? I'm at the dashboard ready to preload, but I'm hesitant because Target is releasing the game at 9pm tonight so I can still get home and install and be ready for 12.

Does the physical map outweigh the wear and tear?

I buy as many of my games as possible as hard copies, for a few reasons.

A: They sometimes come with extra physical goodies like maps, trinkets, stickers, stuff like that, and I like stuff like that.

2: I like to display my collection and I can't do that with digital titles.

D : I can loan them out to friends, and you can't do that with digital titles.

Swapping discs doesn't bother me. I've been playing games that way my entire life. I'm used to it and it's not a major obstacle.

I used to prefer physical but now I'm into digital. Easier and faster.

I love hard copies but digital has been my main order of the day for the last couple of years.  However, I am getting a hard copy of RDR2 to collect and if new consoles are backwards compatible, I like to have my hard copy to just pop in.

If new console is backwards compatible then digital should carry over.

Physical. If I can't rub my private parts on it, I don't own it.

Digital download for me. I have an aversion to shopping for physical goods.

Digital here. Can't be arsed switching discs when I want to switch games or consoles. I also don't like the humming sound of the disc drive to spoil my immersion.

Saves on loading times too. f*ck physical discs.

I definitely get physical and always when I can. For the reasons noted above, and you can sell them down the line if you don't like a game. Also if a digital distributor ever does go under I'll still have my copies.

I'm old fashioned, I went through a phase of buying digital games a few years ago because I worked long days and nights and couldn't get to the shops or wait in for a delivery. Sure it's easier and saves about 5 seconds when changing games but I prefer a physical collection. It's always nice to literally dust off games after a few years and try them out again, you don't get that same feeling with digital games.
