Most likely, whatever cutscenes were originally scripted with Ogg, Luke and Fonteno (or just Ogg, depending on who was going to be involved, I'm personally convinced Michael would be involved thanks to this little line from Single Player never getting resolved; concerning a "big target"  that is up for grabs by both the FIB & IAA, so I doubt it's the Humane Labs/Monkey Business stuff, which even then I'm not too sure of since the FIB are said to have won said funding in the Doomsday Act 3 Intro.

 

For anyone else, the chairs are all single chairs with an attatched desk, as opposed to the circular single seat design of our own. The screen wall and podiums aren't there either, instead it's just a projection screen with a desk in front of it.

There's nothing unusual about the 18th. It's all to do with having it as close to x many days before Christmas. So you can't move it forward by one day every year, without eventually having to move it back by 6 days. Hope that makes sense.

Why Im against 18th is because christmas is exactly a week after and usually there is a decent gap between december update and festive surprise.

Nah, it's the original planned Facility Interior, because the IAA facility has;

- no Avenger Hangar that ours does, it just has an elevator where the door would be

- the two extra downstair levels, with the War Room and the Server Room and all the side offices in the corridors

- a custom floor design with the All Seeing Eye and 12 stars

- an extra lift where the Act 3 reward statue sits

- IAA branding like the Nightclubs interior sign in a few places

 

What it doesn't have is the extra rooms we can buy for our own locked behind the walls, they don't show on the map at all, which means R* just took an planned (now unused) Single Player Interior, redesigned it a little for extra bells and whistles, then sold it to the players as a paywall for the Doomsday Heist.

Thinking of it, they could always recycle the casino and arab missions, if the other missions were indeed recycled into GTAO updates.

Aside from this, the Flight School Update was meant for singleplayer - on last gen they left over some old Coquette Classic customization in a folder called "sppilot".

 

Those names were added by Rockstar in an update, by the way, they later removed them once people found them.

So the cia is the iaa in-game right? Strange they would use cia though?

 

I still don't get how it was all originally for story mode. It was a stretch of imagination to imagine doomsday in online, but story mode is even less farfetched than that.

They always referred to IAA as "CIA", even as far back as GTA IV -- UL Paper contact is internally called "cia". They even refer to FIB as "FBI". I assume it's just easier for them to name stuff internally by the real name.

 

Doomsday Heist is most definitely SP DLC. When those DLC names were added Rockstar also added (and later removed, like the names) a few scripts, one of them was called "sp_clifford_registration". (There was also a "sp_norman_registration", but that was for the zombies DLC 👀)

Interesting. Because many players criticise rockstar for allowing gta to become to militarized just to sell sharks. But yet it seems they were ready to go one more (zombies) for single player, and that wouldn't have sold any sharks, hence Leslie departure etc.

Game ain't dead for me. Of course, creatively it's peaked, but it's comfort gaming now. And I love that.

 

So long as there's competition on races or adv. modes and my cars aren't deleted, I'm good with whatever really as I'll never go into public sessions to do things needed unless I'm alone here. And to be fair, with $63m in the bank, I'm good for any kind of cash sink that's inevitable too, not that I like the thought of tossing away $20m or something, lol.

 

Cars, clothes, game modes or missions/heists suits me. After RDRO I'm just not gaming hard anymore. This game changed me big time, and because of this game, RDRO is easy to see the bullsh*t too. Making money is all good there really, but that gold system locking much content to it, just makes me not want cosmetics or such. Takes much away as progress is tedious on gold really, and I ain't bending over buying it, lol. Uugh.

 

Still use the free horse from the tutorial and once I get my bribe, I mean, free gold, I'll buy lures and that's me. Fishing and hunting there, driving and crashing here.

 

Fed up at the wasted potential of both game's atm, but it is what it is. I'm a freeloader and being phased out. PvE is made unwelcome though they include much, so I'm just gonna MTU this if I have to, and break that looking for solo public if need be. 

 

As much as I said I'd do this again here in @fw3's thread. Future games I'm just not sure. I didn't anticipate RDRO being just this bad for me to begin with. Week one of GTA:O I'd still be playing at 3am and go to work with stinging eyes, lol. RDRO, less than 10hrs total so far.

 

Oh, how they f*cked it up. The potential is there, but I don't think they get that.

It's nothing surprising, the Doomsday Heist and the Heists update were content from SP DLC.

Is it a coincidence that Trevor was the only protagonist who appeared in the Heists update ?!

I mean early 2014 is when the SP DLC code appeared with a list of missions for Trevor's episode. They clearly started with Trevor's episode which involve the IAA working with him (more like using him as undercover agent).

Wasn't the original heists meant to be online from the off? I thought it was a heavily advertised part of the game from day one really, at least promised as a thing we could do with other people as opposed to story mode and alone.

SP DLC was planned from the very start as well.

Full production began in early 2014, as that list @WildBrick142 posted was included with the Business update or the I'm Not A Hipster update.

Things changed mid-way, the "Leslie Benzies" incident and other stuff.

You have to understand "SP DLC" was supposed to be something big, like really big and it's not easy to just cancel it and forget the hours several developers put into to develop it.

It's more better to use them for future GTA Online updates and that's what happened.

Oh absolutey. I know story content got pushed and focus shifted to online. Just mean the heists specifically being aimed for online too. But yeah, so much went different once businesses became a thing here. Game changed a lot once crates came really.

 

Cash is king and all that. ;)

The 2015 Heists are NOTHING like what the Online Heists originally were planned to be.

Outside of the Online Gameplay Reveal Video, THIS MISSION is all we have that is based off the original Heists, fancy ass Contact Missions with players on different Teams to fufill roles much like Adversary Modes, that was it. That and they were supposed to release 2 weeks after Online launched, not a year and a half later.

 

Even then, the 2015 Heists went through some serious rewrites, the original Fleeca Job was going to be a Sprint around all of them on the map as opposed to just going to one of them, culminating in a Paleto Score style shootout in Legion Square.

Along with particular boundaries being broken in the Setup missions...

Excluding gametype and shopping updates, what else have we had?

- Finance & Felony (Crates, freeroam jobs)

- Bikers (Passive, freeroam missions and jobs)

- Gunrunning (Passive, contact missions)

- Smugglers Run (Crates)

- After Hours (Extra Passive Warehouse with the Terrorbyte stapled on, notice Tony makes no mention of it, he only discusses the Storage Space of your club).

 

That's 6 business updates, it took 5 of them in a row for the formula to be broken up by a Heist update. Given how vocal we've been about getting tired of copy paste businesses, I'll be very surprised if Rockstar think they can carry on like that all the way up to GTA 6

6.

 

- We need another set of Heists, they don't have to be linked together in an overarcing plot like Doomsday, hell, they don't even have to be unlocked in order, but they need to be BIG jobs. Like a Casino, the Union Depository 2, the Fleeca (beta heist) Sprint.

- We need another Storyline update like Lowriders.

 

 


After Hours was straight up ported from single player as well. Its the only DLC where:
- only you can enter and drive provided vehicles
- bodyguards are useless and they don't even appear in cutscenes 

It rly feels like they jus ported something that was meant for Franklin (the only one who haven't met Lazlow in SP)  

Also I remember hearing something about clifford and jetpacks years ago so I bet DH was also for SP.

Speaking of the original heists, it looks like originally you were going to get heist details through a printer, and you could use preset codenames.

On the left is a text file snippet from TU13 (when SP DLC stuff was also added), on the right is when Heists released.

That 'beta' looks horrible. I prefer the way 2015 heists turned out. Well structured and distinct roles.

The DDH failed in that aspect, apart from a few setups, they mostly felt like glorified contact missions.

So I guess no one exactly knows what Lonely-Martin mentioned above, which of the original 5 heists were meant for single player and which were meant for story?

 

Reminds me of that Rockstar interview earlier this year where the guy was talking about how they knew Online had massive potential, but it took them some time to see exactly where that was. At the time of reading it struck me as a kind of an exaggeration of the issues we experienced. So maybe he was talking more about things we are unaware of, such as reworking so much story content for online and changing the vision of the employees working on the project(s).

I mean specifically a heist at a jewelry store in the jewelry district across from Legion Square. Both the movie and game are set in the same city, it would be very fun if done right (think GTA4 bank robbery, an absolute gauntlet to run), and it would also be piss easy for them.to make.

I keep getting that feeling we will get a loose sequel to Doomsday with water-related activities. If not this December maybe down the road.

 

Seems like what @WildBrick142 found speaks to the possibility of that.
