Next DLC Speculation Thread Mk VII

If Rockstar, had the good grace to share some information, about this forthcoming DLC, there would be less bitching and more speculation. 

 

We've got fu*k all to go on at this moment in time, and we could have, another 3 weeks of it to come also.

As great as it would be, a map expansion isn't happening. Not enough return for what it would take to create it. People could choose to just not buy it and that would throw Rockstar into a hissy fit

My take on this, is that if they did want to do a map expansion, surely the development tools they have now would enable them - and motivate them - to create extremely detailed and lush environments, far exceeding what GTA currently has.

Therefore, in creating such an environment (let’s say, an island), would the designers and developers need to dumb it down visually, in order for it to be the same level of detail as GTA’s?

Dunno, maybe I’ve been too immersed in RDO and how beautiful that game is.

Good take. The only downsight of this is that a DLC with this quality will take a great amount of time to develop. I would rather have 3/4 updates a year, instead of 2 or even 1 big update(s) a year.  OT: Did you also notice that the graphics in RDO are actually far worse in the single player? Everyhting is less sharp, and a lot of things are washed out. If they do have the power of making a map expansion ( and they have ) it would be amazing, but my thoughts still stand on this subject. I never believed in such a thing, and i dont think it's profitable for Rockstar to create such a DLC.. The only thing i want is a DLC with fun, non griefable vehicles, guns and some cool contact missions. But we all know that's not going to happen.

If you are going to do a full map, with all those detail, why not just do a new game?  I do not understand these thoughts...

it was honestly such an epic night.

 

just went to the corner store to grab some late night snacks to help me stay awake and i come back to see the update file pop up lol. i went absolutely nuts

 

found a couple of gtafers and almost made it through the first two heists that same night. must've stayed up til like 5 or some sh!t.

Quite a couple of times actually. Those are the most fun in my opinion, but the downsight of that is you cant speculate on stuff.

Why would I uninstall GTA-V if GTA Online is lacking? I play RAGE MP and need the single player aspect of the game. I'll just refuse to play Online till it's been fixed up (which is probably never at this point, them adding OPMK2 only sealed the deal).

That's because most likely they themselves have no idea on how to carry the Online mode forward, at least since after DDH. Hence we get cloned DLCs (SSASSS), promising but underperforming (AH) and unwanted (AW).

My prediction still stands. I think we get a announcement on friday, with the release on the 23rd. Or we get a announcement on the 23rd, along with the release on the 26th. Stay positive, team 23rd!

I don't believe that could happen at this point. But just for the sake of discussion here's the only possible way I can see this:

- map ported from GTA IV. Exactly the same or slightly updated (like from that old "leak" that we had years ago) 
- they been releasing this small low effort content for the last 5 years because they been secretly working on this huge surprise project (yeah sure... lol) 
- most likely without traffic and npcs cause I don't think they could just port pathways that easily, they would have to rewrite everything.

So that leaves us with empty map that they would probably use for... I don't know, Battle Royal or something like that.
But If you are upgrading gtaIV map - why not just release gta4 as remaster? Same amount of work but they would make more money that way. And nothing would stop them from coping content from gtao to create gtaIVonline.

OR

- small island, something between the size of Fort Zancudo or Paleto Bay. Nothing bigger then this:

- not map expansion but one small mission in North Yankton (Just like we "visited" LC in that one mission from San Andreas) 

But completely new map? We can forget about it. They don't even want to work on cutsceens so why would they work on a whole new map (when thats the most time consuming part of creating a game)

My guess is announcement on Friday and DLC on the 25th.

nah it's def coming sometime soon, all the qabeta updates and little changes noticed by fun2 are the proof in the pudding.
