GTA Online is not dying, it still has many active players and it's one of the most played games on steam so why are the updates dying? 2017 we got 4 updates with 3 of them being major ones all spread through the year nicely and evenly.

2018 was lackluster with only one major update that was overhyped in terms of the content that came with it especially with most of the content in it being dripfed (after hours) and 2019 isn't looking too good either

the longer is goes, the less i think it will be arena war. if it was going to be a part 2 i think it would come out not long after the original. a longer wait makes it seem like something fresh should be coming

the game isn't dying the dev team just doesn't want to use as many resources towards it anymore.

I don't think the new update will be Arena Wars Part 2. I don't see Rockstar going back to back with Arena War updates. Could we see Arena Wars Part 2 in the future? Absolutely. I think we will see that eventually for sure. I just don't see that being the next update.

Yep. Releasing a part 2 right after a part 1 is a complete nonsense.

I guess it's hard to make updates for an old game with such a spaghetti code like GTA Online has

It's like a blank canvas, but in this case most of the canvas has already been used

they announced both beforehand though, it was supposed to be a back to back two part thing... hence IGG part one and part two.

 

i feel like even if arena war part 2 is the next dlc, they'll relate it to the original very subtly and not make it entirely too obvious, e.g. executives > faff > i/e

My struggling effort to stay on topic:

 

If R* are going in the direction of 2 DLCs this year (what'd you think?), then surely it stands to reason that the dripfeed from this one has to last a substantial period of time, meaning tons of vehicles… right?!

 

Or, of course, they could release a t-shirt and AM every week from dripfeed starting point til rapture.

The more this update getting delayed, the more toxic this topic becomes. Since we've seen Qabeta update, it means we're talking at least one more week plus there's no spending trap event week too.

 

It's obvious there are no leaks, R* is not communicating with us either, release patterns are broken, there's indication of Arena wars p.2, not good overall, not good. The only good thing is probably they're delaying the update because they want to add more stuff than just what remained from Arena, but who knows.

 

Considering the delays, I've watched Swegta's videos about the development process of Bully: all the developers were busy for some time, rounding 90 degree angles of the sidewalks to fix the collision models because one of the Brothers said there should be a skateboard in game. Who knows what are they trying to fix now and how long will it take.
