Nothing R does makes any sense. If anything RDR should have been pushed back till around now. That would give players a chance to play story mode and be done in time for a big December update for gta, then released rdro early next year. Now who the hell knows.

Since they are only releasing rdro as a beta I would not expect them to do much as far as a big xmas update for rdro. They did say they would alternate dlcs. So I can see them releasing rdro within the next 2 weeks as a beta as they said. Then a decent size gta December update and once that cools down rdro can get a proper dlc.

The more I think of it, and the closer we get to christmas, the more I realize how good a DLC the DDH really was. It had so much content and play/replayability. Combined with the snow, going through the heists with friends was a really nice christmas present!

 

It’ll be interesting to see what we get this christmas. I agree that it seems unlikely that GTAO will get a DLC as big this year, with RDO having just taken off.

Me, I don’t really mind seeing as I happily play both games. If GTAO gets good new content I’ll gladly spend time with that, but in any case me & my friends will just have started discovering RDO by then, so... yeah, there definitely won’t be any shortage of entertainment this december.

exactly, not to mention they are two different games...  why does everyone think just because a developer has another popular franchise that they are just going to ignore their flagship franchise?  Fallout 76 is coming out and The Elder Scrolls Online is still getting updated...  there is zero chance we don't get an update this Dec.

It actually makes a ton of sense. This is a business and making money is the most important thing. I'm not saying we will get something the size of the Doomsday Heist (we obviously won't) but there will be a December DLC. That's a lock.

^^ Yep. If they can squeeze money out of GTA & still be profitable, they'll do it.

 

They have an opportunity other studios will kill for. An upcoming Christmas season with 2 best selling AAA games & a steady stream of microtransactions ... They'd be stupid not to capitalize on that. If they fumble it, heads gonna roll in the next board meeting.

I think DLC-wise, R* focuses on GTA for christmas. They’re hard at work getting a patch + Online ready for RDR2 as we speak. RDO will have a lot of new stuff straight off the shelf so I don’t think we’ll see any December content for RDO. But maybe I’m late and this has already been established lol, haven’t been following any speculation threads too closely recently..

RDR2 Online releases the week of November 26-30.

 

GTA Online December update releases December 11th.

It's entirely possible they have a decent sized update for December. But the idea that it will happen for definite just becuse it is a guaranteed money maker is wrong. Look at the bigger picture and ask yourself how many people would buy gta 6 if it were released tomorrow? Everyone on here would of course. But many wouldn't because gta online still has so much in it. Rockstar know what they are doing. They knew the broomstick would break the balance of the game and they wanted it to do that for a reason.

I think Rockstar might add one of the RDR2 weapons as a Christmas Day login bonus, instead of a mask.

I'm not sure what size the December update will be. All I know is there will be an update.

Totally understandable,  however take this into consideration;

 

When RDO launches, it's officially launching as a Beta, it's in the name. That way Rockstar can go;

"Hey guys we're so glad you've enjoyed the first few weeks of RDO despite a few problems, issues and exploits the community have found, we've heard your complaints and we're going to get rigt to work fixing them. In the meantime, how about a nice GTA:O update full of new toys and weapons for you to play around with while we sort out RDO".

I am a "rockstar insider" and I can confirm that shark cards have been rebranded in RDR online in the form of Horse cards. Take a look for yourself:

naa there were no card swipes in the old west, if they are to stay true to the era, they would just sell bonds and/or gold/silver certificates.

Same here. That's the only thing I want at this point. Give me a nice mansion I can retire in peace. I'll take some sweet new cars of course. Nightlife update was such a disappointment in terms of cars.

Everyone and their dog who can afford and run it will get VI no questions asked. No matter in which state Online currently is, firstly because Online is a new experience for GTA franchise with an already established and demographically diverse player base. Secondly, just look around for anything that R* released after 2013: one game in 5 years and it's not GTA. We're long past previous GTA cycle and I suspect it has something to do with significant hardware changes last few years. 

 

And that part about potential of Online? That ship has sailed long time ago. Nothing tremendous will ever come to Online on the current engine, mark my words. Because it was possible to do after 2014 remaster and later PC release. Most definitely, the dev team is long gone and with them a lot of tacit knowledge of the game engine too. With Xbox one X as the current hardware standard, converging PC-Xbox architecture and the advances in GPUs any serious new GTA development will be around the new engine.

I've been very doubtful up until Fun posted that winky face. As ambiguous and small as it may be, it had me change my mind from thinking there would only be a few cars or even just one on Xmas. Between Fun's subtle post and the fact that they would be ignoring their most profitable time of year for GTAO, I'm now on the bandwagon of late November/early December RDRO release and week before/week of Xmas GTAO full sized DLC.

 

Now it's just a matter of the theme and how big it will be. I do still think all future updates will be small simply due to sharing resources with RDRO, but that doesn't mean we couldn't get a small but great Midnight Club DLC (I say MC instead of Tuners/Outlaws because I want at least 50% classic muscle too), or even a mini Naval/aquatic based DLC. My money is on high end cars and, unfortunately, meme vehicles. Dec has always been the update with the most expensive, ridiculous, OP sh*t. Seriously hoping for MC or another heist be it casino with mansions, or sci-fi alien epic. Either way, whether or not there is a Dec update and what size it is should be a good indicator of things going forward. We'll see just how serious they are about keeping GTAO going alongside RDRO.

Casino - Buy a Mansion as a new hub and partake in a classic down to Earth style Supervault heisting.

Doomsday 2 - Purchase a lifesize Tracey Island playset and launch meme machines out the swimming pool to take the fight to space.
