Let me ask you this: Are you still SECOND GUESSING Rockstar after they've brought countless items of cut content to the forefront??? They had a years plus worth of DOOMSDAY single player DLC just sitting there that no one suspected! We weren't supposed to get any more heist! Arena Wars came unexpectedly when most people forgot it ever exist! There was a time when people posted those Maze Arena pics on the regular with hopes of them opening those doors! Think about the DLC  that came from scratch! I'm telling you with pure confidence that they haven't even scratched the surface yet! Those adversary modes are the breadsticks here... Rockstar is focused on the meat and potatoes! It's obvious that they're waiting for a good time to push out the good stuff!!

Yes because there is only so much cut content to use. What are they gonna do next? Splice together cut content from content that was initially cut from single player?

I was talking about players interpreting Cops N Crooks in GTA IV as anything more than a glorified Adversary Mode, viewing it through rose tinted glasses so to speak. If they brought it to GTAO (they already did basically) it would be hated on just the same as the rest of the Adversary Modes, only played during x2 events.

 

What you posted has nothing to do with my original post, but I'll bite.

 

I am certain that they have used up most of the main cut content from single player at this point, and any "large" updates have stopped long ago. The Arena was smaller (compared to other December updates) than we are typically used to. I expect this year to be more of the same. More filler (cars), less substance (PvE), which I personally am fine with. In my opinion they are way past scratching the surface, they a scraping the bottom of the barrel at this point.

 

Also, I should point out, the Arena, while one of my favorite things in the game, wasn't anything like most of us wanted. We wanted VC/SA events to return, not vehicle deathmatches 2.0. Also, I'm still not even sure why they call Doomsday a "heist". What exactly are we stealing? Nothing. We are saving the world. It was more just an elaborate mission strand with a few basic and non-important decisions that the player could make. It was fun, no doubt, but imo is no more a heist than Lamar's Lowrider missions.

 

Well that was a mouthful for 8:38 am.

I completely agree with that, however, I'd say that the idea of each new DLC being tied with it's own Career Path used to unlock Trade Prices is the new model they'll try to run with in future updates. If they aren't making any new Businesses, surely T2 are going to want something in place to sell Sharkcards.

 

They don't need to make a purchasable building have any unique functional purpose that requires an entire building, look at the Arena Workshop... Just some Garage slots, a Career Path tracker that could easily be put in the Stats menu, and an LS Customs that doesn't have the restrictions of not being able to customize this updates new vehicles. I can easily see a Crooked Cop update having the same mentailty;

 

Some corrupt investigator calls us asking for help in the criminal underworld, telling us to buy a lockup where you can buy, store and upgrade a Personal Police Cruiser, not just the standard LSPD one, but one from a variety of new and old cars that can be done up in Police Liveries, used to partake in Vigilante Freeroam Events and a batch of new Cop Themed Advesary Modes, both of which earn you Vigilante Points, proving your worth to unlock new LSPD Vehicles & Equipment (EMP Mines etc.) to use out in the field with our Corrupt Chief redirecting funding to cover some of the cost (Trade Price).


As much as I hate the Arena War career path being entirely random and clogged up with the entire batch of new clothing (bar the Horror Alien Suits for some reason), let's say they fixed it in future updates and the BIG unlocks everyone wants (vehicles/weapons) are at set milestones for everyone. The Arena Ready vehicles are extremely useless in freeroam given all of the updates in 2017 but owning them is extremely useful against the stock versions in Arena games. After Hours had the same idea of vehicle balance, introduce these heavily armoured delivery vehicles that easily die in freeroam, but are buffed to hell when delivering.

I'd been thinking about signing on as a cop in a similar way VIPs, CEOs or MC Presidents sign on. 

Rockstar could add it as another (shameful) incentive to mess with other players whilst they're delivering or supplying cargo (etc) by having player's progress slowed down by ticketing them once the target vehicle's body damage reduced past a certain value - requiring the cops to ram those players off the road, or alternatively disabled via EMP gun, or prevented altogether by having them arrested, which sees the other player spending time in Bolingbroke Prison for one to five minutes, depending on their crime(s). 
Of course, getting the other vehicle's "body damage" below a certain value may prove more difficult if the other player is in an aircraft or something. Maybe give the cop cars a 100% Jump Upgrade and have them take out air targets that way? I'm joking of course (then again I was never good at comedy). 
 

They could have a session-based or permanently online "Rap Sheet" whereby from then on, all player's criminal activities will be tallied in a chart and players will be able to go on (via the Social Club site or whatever) and compare who's the 'Most Wanted' across different platforms. Could be an extra marker on player's blips or whatever to identify them as being a 'hardened criminal' that's been killing players, destroying cargo and generally being a public menace versus players who don't have those markers - so that allows players that are cops to pick their targets more efficiently. (As an aside, can you imagine a team of cops taking down Oppressor Mk.2 tryhards and sending them to jail for five minutes?) 

 

Maybe there could be something that probably won't make sense - a sort of police version of the Terrorbyte where, because we're now linked into the Police & Crime database, not only can we source supplies for all our existing ventures and see the supply levels right there and then, but we can also start sales off from there too. Kinda' defeats the idea though when we realise we still have to go to the same old locations to pick up the Boxville's and Trashmasters etc. 

 

The Avenger's Helicarrier had those advanced weapon systems with automated targeting that were supposed to apparently identify 'enemies of the state' and automatically fire at them - we don't need an Orbital Cannon V2, but some extra hangar space would be appreciated and there might be some way of working that, with having set aerial locations that these helicarriers could be placed in (as a non-moving thing, but works like the yacht so you can have it in multiple locations). 

 

I dunno, maybe all this Brexit nonsense has made me "quite the excitable fellow" and having wanted some sort of law-enforcement police type update for a while, I'm brainstorming a bit too much. 
I think The Vesupucci Job is just a homage and reference to The Italian Job though - can't say I've actually ever played Extraction though sorry.

Oh yeah I'm sure they could do a big cops update thing like that, would be cool. I'm just talking about the gamemode from IV returning that people have been harping on for years now.

I'd like to think that the 'Player Profiler' on the Terrorbyte is a hint to some potential law-enforcement activities. Almost something that could tot-up a specific player's crimes (either as a 'career' or since joining a session) and give you appropriate rewards for bringing them to justice alive, with reduced or no rewards for you killing a suspect (I don't know how EWO-junkies would count in that though...)

I don't think anyone is referring to the actual game mode. I say cops and crooks, and i'm referring to an update that gives us access to cop vehicles, cop outfits and cop themed jobs.

We were mostly stealing data in the Doomsday Heist btw, only the last act was more about saving the world rather than stealing something. I mean even though the most of the preps throughout all acts had us stealing equipment...

And many other missions in the game I guess, we are always stealing some kinda documents or a car filled with stuff. Still don't think it deserves to be called a heist.

Nah I have definitely seen plenty of people talking about the actual game mode, less so this past year but certainly in the past.

so then they can use that casino interior that is sitting on their servers bc the SP DLC got scrapped, and we can finally see the casino interior.

If they ever do a police update, I could easily see it being another business-like activity, where you gotta buy a garage at one of the police stations, and then possibly buy a police car to start doing any police stuff. But I can also see them adding police-themed Adversary Modes too. Not to sound too negative, but it would basically be the same sh*t as before.

A Fast and Furious style hiest centered around cars would be great, maybe involve the players in the final hiest stealing a bunch different styled vehicles ranging from muscle to exotic. Would be the perfect update to include the gauntlet classic. Make it have 3 acts like DDH! Act 1: Muscle/Sports Classic, Act 2: Tuner, Act 3: Super\Sport

R* can deliver contact missions easily via tunables just like they did with Martin Dispatch Missions which were fun to play

They're gonna add an extra long runway on the airport too for us to chase down an airplane.

all this talk about heists makes me miss december 2017 so much.

 

best update after the OG heists imo.

 

although i do miss the old school  robber criminal theme from the old heists,all this goverment stuff is cool and all but it realy has become a fast and furious parody at this point.

 

funny enough those movies also "lost" their roots and evolded from street criminals,to almost super hero level goverment goons.

 

maybe rockstar likes those movies a bit to much in that regard?

 

more oceans 11 and reservoir dogs and less fast and furious 8 would be awesome. (they can always throw in some ufo type thing in the dripfeed for those that realy want those things,just keep it out of the gameplay stuff)

Sorry, you're correct about how it worked in IV, and I probably should have stated that differently- what I want, if they do a C&C mode, is for those activities to take place entirely in freeroam.

 

I'm sure some people disagree, but I hate queued game modes that force me into a loading screen, match lobby, loading screen, play an activity, loading screen, repeat. Each step takes longer than it should and is a point of failure for the game's matchmaking and p2p connections. So I want cops and crooks to happen on the freeroam map without interruptions.

 

I suppose it's impossible to know, as a player, but I don't get the impression that Arena War is doing that great. To me, the Arena and adversary modes all seem like streamer bait, cheap on the developer side, and they bring out the worst of loading screen and disconnects. If they keep going that route, they'll keep their development costs down, perhaps, but I don't think they'll score any large successes.

 

I think Gaffa's idea of " signing on as a cop in a similar way VIPs, CEOs or MC Presidents sign on" is the way to do it.
