Fish Tails

It weighed 500 pounds and had two heads. It broke my fishing pole so I had to grab it with my bear hands and wrestle it into the boat. It put up a fight but 

I was a boxer in college so it stood no chance. I gave it a quick jab to the left head and knocked it out. Just then another, EVEN BIGGER one jumped onto the boat

and pushed me out into the water. When I finally got back in the boat both fish had disappeared. Once in a lifetime fish, gone forever most likely.

 

 

Please share your best fishing stories from the Wild West, true, or slightly less than accurate to actual events, its up to you.

I was out in the lake in a boat fishing. I wasn't catching anything so I moved the boat and I must of hit something because, it started leaking... I drowned. Sadly, nothing was caught that day.

I was down at Gill Landing fishing off of the dock and managed to catch a small lake sturgeon on the lake lure. It was around 17lbs and didn't put up much of a fight. Not that exciting, I know, but it was the first larger fish I caught, and I hauled it off to Valentine with a huge smile on my face.

Still pillocking around C2 not got the darn tooin' rod yet. All I've wanted to do is fish. Caught up in all manner of other foolish pastimes

On the east shore of the mouth of the Dakota river/ shore of the FlatIron lake, theres a gent out shore fishing. Sneak up and knife him and take the fishing rod he drops

Actually thought I did this, but no fishing rod to be found. 

 

Its actually irrelevant as I've taken that pikey Jack fishing. Literally 10 minutes ago.

No rod here either. However, I've kinda figured out how to use my horse to sort of "herd" fish right on to the shore. They swim right up and die. Free fish! Lol.

Traveled up north to try and catch the Legendary Moose (couldn't find it because too many people were around, plus I don't really have the firepower to take it down efficiently), anyways I found the watering hole for a Legendary fish instead.

 

Didn't catch that one, don't have the lure for it, but I caught my first big fish. 18 lbs. I can't think of its name rn but it was a big boi.

You don't even have the Springfield rifle? Are the Legendaries really that much more resistant? The 2 star female moose and the 3 star elk buck (my 2 biggest gun kills) I've shot both went down with 1 dead eye express shell to the face with no damage penalty...

Oh idk, was just basing it on my first Elk kill which was also last night. Figured a legendary Moose must be harder to take down. Took like 5 shots from the Repeater and that was with one right in the head.

 

But no I don't have the Springfield. Haven't bought any guns aside from the free ones at the start.

Ah I see, the repeater is only good for fox, coyotes and grey wolves. Not so much for big game.

 

The only reason I got the Springfield was because of the poisoned guy. But, yeah, you should get it if you're serious about hunting and getting the perfect pelts.

I did the fishing trip withe the Irish dude who takes you to Flat Iron Lake and the Legendary Panfish [[I guess-what it looks like on the Map anyway]]  Fished there till he got naked and ju,ped in the water, invited me to join him and thought 'Oh Hell no-might end up with him trying to drown me and fighting him naked or him coming on to me and me drowning him naked.]] so after he left I went further upshore-didn't want his Ass Flakes [[they didn't have TP back then you know]]  polluting up my fish.

 

Kept having this large fish swim near my feet-liked toe cheese or something but I could not figure out how to short-cast or simply drop the line *right there* to catch him so I got the bow and took care of it.

 

BTW, with Dynamite do the fish float?   Fishing for camp so quality probly don't matter just get tired of them whining all the time, lazy basyiges.

I love this part of RDR2 so much. The hunting I expected and keenly wanted, and that too is vastly better all round. But the fishing too, wow!

As I said in there, if we get variables here, and with regular fish, I think it'd be awesome for a little competition. But time will tell.

@Lonely-Martin all the Legendary Fish are the same size for everyone.

 

Regular fish do vary in size but the largest normal fish is 20 lbs.

Ahh, that's a shame. Could have been fun. But with online to come, plenty of time for ideas and additions.

 

So far my biggest regular fish is a Muskie at 17lb 14oz, but I lost that picture or forgot to press X to save it. But I'll get her again.

I got a 14lb Pike yesterday on Flat Iron Lake-just WEst of the second camp is a fishing pier with a house on it-maybe a 30 min or so ride from camp along the shore.

20 lbs? Really? That's funny, I'm a terrible fisherman, but the only large fish I caught was a 19.6 pound Muskie out by the Van Horn Mansion. Almost max weight!

Yes according to the strategy guide, it has a list of all the weight ranges for all the fish.

I know it's a little off topic, but can you get perfect pelts from 2star Animals by using better ammo type?

Legendary animal hides can't get quality losses. So if you don't care about doing it right,  you might as well whistle for your horse, chase after the animal and shoot it down with a shotty, If you don't have the right gun with you. But it's way more fun and immersive to do it with the right cailber. But when i used a repeater to hunt down the legendary coyote, it took me 3 headshots, when 1 rifle headshot would have done the job too (i actually did both, because i had to load an older save at one point).

Nope. It has to start as a 3 star.
