Red Dead Online: DLC/ADD ON Wishlist Thread

Recommended Posts

po2oMAz.png

Dear members of the RDR and GTA Forums,
Just as for GTA Online, a thread for DLC and/or Add on's is quite important. Why? Because Rockstar does indeed read these forums and well... most of the DLC's they have put out were actually pitched right here on the forums. We always missed a place on these forums where all the pitches/good ideas were located in one place. Large ideas were dropped as new topics, while simple ideas were either dropped as new topics (and locked) or lost in the GTA Online wishlist topic.

This topic will be the place where you can pitch your larger DLC and/or Add On idea(s). There are a few rules to keep in mind:
- No single sentence wishlists. Make it something more than just a single wish, try to think of playability, online fairness and how it can be profitable both for Rockstargames themselves as for the players.
- Try to add images
- Short intro
- at least two paragraphs of what it will be about
- end the pitch with a short list of what you would want to be included.

Below will be a list with links to the different pitches, when they are posted.
- The Kodiaks by Ivarblaauw

Leisure by HockeyMike24

Red Dead Online: The Kodiaks

The Kodiak bear is even larger than the Grizzly and they pose an imminent danger to the trappers in a valley west of Ambarino. These gigantic monsters cannot be killed with simple firearms, so you and your mates first need to arm up. Into this valley you'll find a new mission contact, new locations to explore and the dangerous Kodiak bear, if you survive the Indians... Welcome to the Kodiaks.

This DLC would introduce a new valley in the Online part of the game, where new npc's, hostiles and animals roam the lands. A new pass over the mountains has been created, where a posse of US Army soldiers awaits the arrival of any person ready to go into the valley. You can just go into the valley without talking to them, but you won't survive long. After the conversation you will gain access to a new range of weapons including the powerful sawed off Litchfield Repeater, which is ready to fire your hollowpoint rounds into any hostile, bear or men alike. You'll also be able to craft new clothing items with help of the Kodiak pelts.

Start your adventure in the Kodiaks from the US fort and you'll unlock new hunting challenges, Indian hideouts and fishing spots. Go to any of the new landmarks or buy treasure maps, which are located in dangerous territory. You and your friends will fight, survive and hunt in this unforgiving valley, where only the toughest can survive.

What does this DLC feature:
- A new valley to explore, featuring creeks, loads of dense forests and a beautiful lake.

- An US army fort
- New contacts for missions
- The dangerous Kodiak bear
- New crafting recipes for clothing items
- A few new weapons, including the sawed off Litchfield Repeater
- New hunting grounds and new challenges
- An unseen Indian tribe, ready to kill anyone who enters their territory, with a bunch of Indian (gang) hideouts

Survive the Kodiaks and you are ready to face any challenge...

Red Dead Redemption 2 Online: Yachts Update

This update could include several sailboat options to pick from in sizes of 30ft to 60ft hull lengths. Fully customizable deck and sail options for speed and comfort. The smaller sizes would be much cheaper, faster, lighter, but would not come with a cabin or any interior options that the larger sailboats would include.

Unlike the GTAO yacht update, this update would include a drivable vessel to get around the map and anchor in many locations.

Possible feature list

- Harpoon gun (Mountable/Unmountable)

- More fishing spots

- Dynamite Fishing

- New clothing options, weapons and accessories

- Variety of sail options from racing to fishing, leisure to living

Inside the cabin would have your standard camp options like food, sleep, weapons storage. Plus upgradable options for bathing, poker table ect...

Please note: I have not seen the map yet, not sure if there would be enough water to make this update useful enough. Thanks for reading.

Edited by HockeyMike24

@HockeyMike24 large ships would be difficult in the map, but small to medium sailboats and steamers would be possible for traversing between the two cities and three towns with harbors.

Harpoon gun stationary is also quite epic and not to overpowered, perhaps we even could use some dynamite for dynamitefishing.

Sailor clothing and tattoos could be introduced with this or not? And lets not forget the Cattleman Navy Revolver.

i would see an "Stagecoach" DLC, you transport NPCs and their packages to different destinations and get paid for it.

That seems like fun :) could you flesh out this idea a bit more? Very curious about the result :)

Red Dead Online weekly seasons

WIP, will be updated soon

Red Dead Online would switch seasons every week, along side weekly challenges accordingly and online events + sweepstakes.

Short change list:

- 13 'years' per real life year

- every week a season change

- 51st week will be winter special (Christmas)

- season changes will be done via server reload. I figured it would be near impossible to change it real time, but if so... be my guest R*

- season specific missions, challenges, events and encounters, including weather.

A few possibilities:

Heavy rains and hail in autumn, snowstorms in winter, lots of younger animals in spring (hunters paradise), and frequent sun and heatwaves in summer.

What would be the big change:

- each season is different which means variation *important in games*

- non frequent gamers find a 'new' game when they load in online everytime.

- frequent gamers have less chance of getting 'map deprevation', as is the case with GTA Online.

- combined with frequent dlc's/add ons and in the best case map expansions, this would add 4x the playing time per added location.

- season specific missions, encounters, challenges and events would make every season an entirely new extensive map.

You start a "Stagecoach Company" and buy your two/four horses, a Stagecoach (which come in differnet sizes (for two or four horses), you can repaint and modify it at a cost).
Then you go from as an example Valentine to Saint Denis and during that voyage you could maybe be raided by "online gangs", have accidents like wheel breakdowns or fleeing horses.

You make an profit depending how "smooth" the ride was for the passengers and cargo. If you get raided and loose valuable cargo, then less profit.

I Think, this could be an interesting "Add-on" to the RDR2 online experience.

Red Dead Online seasons

Introducing Seasons to Red Dead Online, changing every week to the next season. Sweepstakes and online events will be held weekly fitting the season of that week.

Every week players have the chance to complete seasonal challenges.

The 51st week will be a special winter week, in which towns are decorated in Christmas decorations and some people will have a xmas tree inside their homes.

Short change list:

- every week a season change (each season will be featured 13 times during one year)

- 51st week will be winter special (Christmas)

- season changes will be done via server reload every Monday 0:00. I figured it would be near impossible to change it real time, but if so... be my guest R*

- season specific missions, challenges, events and encounters, including weather.

Spring:
Spring is a special moment for all animals in the country. Young animals will be born and herds will be expanded again. The temperature is changing to a slightly warmer temperature and the snow is gone in most of the locations.
- 150% domestic and wild non predatory animals

- Temperature will be back to standard (-0/+0)
- Trees are as seen as in the current state of the game
- Lots of flowers pop up all over the country

Summer:

Summer introduces warm temperatures all over the country and people are enjoying the better weather
- back to 100% of animals
- Temperature will be higher all over the map (+10 degrees Celsius), so you have to cloth yourself for these warmer temperatures

- Trees are lush and full of leaves

- 150% chance for clear weather

Autumn/Fall:
Autumn introduces falling leaves and slippery slopes all over the map. Rain is more common and temperature drops again. Mating season sets in, so wild animals are easier to spot and louder.
- Wild non predatory animals increase their mating calls to a number of 200%
- Temperature will be back to standard (-0/+0)
- Trees lose leaves. The ground will be full of leaves as well.
- 150% chance for rain
- Reddish/brown colour for deciduous trees.

- flocks of Geese will fly over, which you can lure to the ground with lures. Goosehunts!

Winter:
Winter introduces snowfall all over the map were the temperature drops below zero.
- Temperature will be dropped all over the map with -10 degrees Celsius, so you need to wear warmer clothing.
- Deciduous trees have lost most of their leaves
- Snowfall and snow in locations which are around 5 degrees Celsius or lower.
- Track animals more easily through the snow

Why would this be a great change for the game:

- Each season is quite different which means that even non-season specific missions will be played entirely different.

- Non frequent gamers find a 'new' game each time when they load in online.
- A reason to buy and wear different types and layers of clothing.
- Wildlife will be more or less present due to the seasons.

- Frequent gamers have much lesser chance of getting 'map deprevation', which is the case with GTA Online.

- Combined with frequent DLC's/Add Ons and in the best case map expansions, this would add 4x the playing time per added location.

- season specific missions, encounters, challenges and events would make every season an entirely new experience.

Just want more of everything we already have. More cities, more horses, more wild animals, more pets, etc...

Basically map expansions? Enough space for that in terms of surrounding countryside. When you go off map, you'll see that the game is about 3x the size of the playable area. Locations which could be added later on.

Character edit

My character looked completely fine when I created him, but after awhile his face started looking too awful..... like he has a chubby face despite it looking average when I was leaving the editor

Didn't feel like doing the 30 minute intro again

Still waiting for that PC version first but I can throw in couple ideas:

- Hot air balloons. Either a personal vehicle, freeroam event or a mission (snipe people before they shoot you down, later use your lasso to anchor yourself to something)
- Old bicycles and tandems
- Peyote plants from gtav
- pool table minigame
- crossbows
(when you think about it everything could be also added to gtao as well)

If we are talking about SP mods/add-ons/fixes? from what I've seen so far this game surly needs:
- ability to skip looting animation
- fast travel
- ability to move faster in your camp

edit: when I suggested hot air balloons I had no idea they are in SP, lol.

Honestly just want some better hair/clothing options - everything's all scruffy and moth-eaten at the moment. Cleaner teeth wouldn't go amiss, either...

"But that's just because it's period-authentic, and you're an outlaw!"

I mean:

Dutch-van-der-Linde-720x405.jpg

And even:

Not to mention:

As opposed to just:

Red_Dead_Redemption_2_20181127105855.jpg

^ And that's an example of some reasonably smart-looking outfits - there are all too many options where it'd be ideal to have smart/scruffy versions of the same shirt/trousers/jacket option, but you can only get it stained and full of holes.

Card games, all those games need to be here. I thought that was a huge thing in westerns? People play cards, someone thinks the other's cheating or gets angry and things turn violent?

Also, we need the editor.

Some form of the Hunter, even if it's just a drawing in a cave or something.

Story Mode Progress should give online bonuses...lower prices on things.  It should do something.  I always hated that some person could be playing GTAO without ever playing the story.  Hated even more the players that bragged about it.  It honestly should be PVP bonus like damage resistance is higher or something if you complete story mode.

- Let us own a dog

- Movie themed outfits (westerns, westworld, BTTF3)

- Content creator similar to GTA. Let us place wooden props, platforms, bridges, hills, rock formations, treehouses, towers, walls, forts, ghost towns, houses and building (with interiors ofc) for custom deatmaches. But it shouldn't be as limited as the one in gta. Just let us use all props from RDR2. Take Far Cry 5's map editor for example. They let you pull assets not only from older FC games but also from Assassin's Creed and Watch Dogs.

- Your own estate/ranch like the one from RDR. Highly customizable house with a stable. I'm thinking something similar to Witcher3 (blood and wine dlc) or Skyrim (heartfire dlc). Let us pick a name, location, shape of the building, rooms, floors, decorations, windmills, cows, horses and all that. Add couple story missions as well ofc

with a level of customization similar to this, room by room:

More NPC action

For the players I’d like to see NPC followers / companions. Customizable from their looks to their loadouts. They could even have their own leveling system and upgrades.

As for the world, it’d be great to sprinkle some named npcs in with all of the strangers. Add more dynamic events like npc gangs riding through towns and just more npcs in general with unique personalities and traits. The more interaction the better. If they can implement the random encounters that were so good in single player but make them rare enough and diverse enough to feel authentic in online, then we’ll be in buisiness.
