Why the f*ck would you close the old crew my crew level was like 1000 and I was always active

I hadn't noticed what happened until someone sent it to me just then. I think we got hit by the same thing that happened to GTA Series, where a Support loophole of some sort is allowing people (perhaps in a specific group) to get access to big crews. I know for a fact this has been reported and there's even been images of a threat actor sharing supposed support/scadmin screenshots of content creators passed around (logged in from what is obviously a remote support workstation), but it's still happening.

 

Noise has been made about it by both reports on HackerOne and others on social media, but somehow it's still happening. Please consider the crew compromised, we do not control it anymore and it's been nuked. Should be obvious from the knock-off logo that we didn't close it on purpose lol.

 

OP of this thread owned the crew so they took over his permissions. It wasn't admin-owned. I'll see what I can do.

Aw man that sucks. Thanks for the update though. Hopefully you guys can regain access.

@Spider-Vice is there any possibility that whoever took control of the crew would have been able to access any members information, such as email addresses, PSN username etc?

 

Just wondering if I should change a few passwords to err on the side of caution.

No, no, all they did was just take over leader duties - kicking members, changing logos, etc. Social Club crews don't expose personal data. The speculated underlying issue behind suspicious actors taking over crews doesn't have to do with accounts being logged into either.

Hey all.

 

I bring good news and bad news. The good news is, we got the Crew back and I'm the leader now as Phatgordo has been inactive for a while and he doesn't particularly care about GTA/GTAF anymore. I'm not 100% sure what the old Motto etc were, but I've used a GTA VI quote, an approximate colour and the old emblem.

 

This brings me to the bad news. Unfortunately R* weren't able to restore all of the members that the perpetrators kicked out, so if you want to get back into the crew, please post here and I'll approve you. I'll see if some of the old guard like @ciel are still on board to approve people every so often and make them (or just her if no one else - or no one ofc lmao) higher ranks again, alongside me.

Admins should promote this crew for when 6 comes out, would be awesome to run full lobbies like GTAF used to years ago

i wasn’t there during the peak days of gtaf crew assuming you mean 2012-2015, a lot of og’s aren’t active these days. i joined late 2016 and by that time, i feel like it already was winding down considerably. 

 

if/when we do get more members, hopefully regulars will rejoin when gta vi drops. ik it goes without saying but we’re gonna need more than 1 lieutenant

Yeah I'm hoping that when VI is closer to dropping we can promote this stuff more (provided they don't get rid of crews considering all the issues they have these days) and also get more lieutenants etc on board
