Do you want the character creator to be like in GTAO?

Do you want the character creator to be like in GTAO, where you choose how your ancestor look or not?

    • Yes, I want to choose my ancestors and go from there.

    • No, I'd rather a more common approach where you choose a preset and go from there. (Like Fallout 4 or pretty much every other game with character creator)

In GTAO, we had this feature where we had to choose who our ancestors were first before creating our own character.

To be honest, I didn't find that much interesting and prefer the usual approach.

Would prefer a standard character creator.

An all new character customization would be great. GTAO's is good, but very limited. So I hope they've built something amazing this time. And with the weight gain/muscle gain in SP RDR2, perhaps that could play a factor in customization for RDO this time.

The ancestor thing was pretty pointless and most of the ancestors were ghoul-like humanoids. I prefer a standart CC

GTAO had one of the worst creators I've seen or used. Please, not anything like that again. I want a more traditional approach.

The ancestor thing was just annoying and overly complicated. Majority of people just chose Niko Bellic or John Marston as their ancestor anyway so loads of characters looked very similar. A fresh system where you can build your character without pre-existing ancestors or anything like that would be perfect, something similar to Saint's Row character customization (But without the weird options that wouldn't match this time and age)

What I'd like more than anything, as far as character creation is concerned, is to have an option to reuse the likeness of my GTAO character.

Not to have to spend an age tinkering with sliders or ancestors, an actual "use GTAO character" option.

I always randomed my GTA online characters until there was one I could work with. Didn't even start with the parents.

But I'm really curious how online characters will look.

That would be awesome, read that some players grew attached to their characters in GTA:O too. Would be great if that was an option in all these games going forward too, bit more choice or that personal touch. (Improved graphics of course).

I'm in favour of losing the heritage thing and having more expansive options though.

P.T.

Just prefer a good character creator. One that allows you to basically sculpt very numerous parts of the face how you see fit. From forehead, eyebrows, cheeks, eyes , nose, ears, chin , jaw, etc. It would be an added bonus to be able to add that to the body features. I get it , being "fat" may be offensive to some, but i think it would be rather cool to see different sized characters and not everyone is 1 size. Thats not at all what its like in real life. We need some jolly fat guys running around town along with the mid sized and skinny. The more variety ( in realistic ways) the better imo.

I'm definitely one of those who has grown attached to my online character. I didn't base it on myself or anything, but after 5 years, all the hours in game, enjoyment and frustration etc. I think it would be really cool to roleplay as a direct descendant of my GTAO character in RDO.

Who knows, there will be some players who would like to roleplay that their GTAO character travelled back in time in their Deluxo.

Overall I just think it would be a great option to have available, which has no downside and only adds enjoyment for some of the player base.

I'd like a decent character creator, so naturally I want them to put considerable distance between this games character creator and GTAO's. The ancestor system was just bizarre and should not be repeated.

Standard character creator without the ancestor stuff. Sure, it was somewhat unique, but it just felt limiting and sometimes awkward to get what you really wanted for your character. A standard character creator will work well enough, specially if they take inspirations from Saints Row and APB.

I'm in the minority of people who really liked what GTAO did with character creation but with 5 years of 95% negative feedback I would be very surprised if they did it again.

I would love to import Courtney's likeness and then tweak it enough to be distinctly different but with enough similarity to see a "family resemblance" and pretend she's an ancestor.

Yeah, there really is room for these little bits of personal preferences to really grow with these games too now, it's pretty exciting TBH as the more gaming grows, there's just so many aspects to it that can come from these big open worlds.

Some enjoy the funny things, and many don't buy into this side as much which is cool too for diversity and variety. But some like to have their own little stories and what-not going, alone or with their groups too so to have it where games like this that could have links and such to only add to the franchises in other ways for some.

Standard. Please for the love of god. My GTAO character looked like some East San Diego Meth Head. Only thing missing was a sh***y lifted pick up truck and the track marks between the fingers.

Too much? Ok I'll sit a round out.

I don't really care that much, but I have to agree that all creations in GTAO looks pretty much the same and as generic as can be no matter how much you try to  tweak it. And the fact that your "avatar" is almost silent doesn't really add to immersion, so I hope that in RDO we will have better and more options to choose from. Either way, we are watching the character from behind almost all the time, so it's net a big issue for me...

Prefer a more traditional creator, having control over eyes, mouth, and hopefully height/weight etc. It would also be good to have some dialogue, even if only minor things, where you can choose between a few different male/female voices.

The character building in GTA:Online feels strange. Every character looks identical, every player is a part of one big family. I rather like to chose my own characteristics so it feels unique.

And, once in-game, they never quite looked like they did in the creator. And for the first few years, you couldn't change anything if/when you created character inevitably emerged all f*cked up. We need a more conventional creator, and maybe some back-alley doctor in San Denis that we can go to for cosmetic surgery to alter our character.
