SPOILER:Response To A Deleted Spoiler Post From Earlier Today

There was a post earlier today in one of the RDR 2 forums here (which has since been deleted) about someone mentioning a major story spoiler from a Japanese magazine involving Arthur and John Marston, which I won't say what it was. For anyone who saw that post, do you think that's true or not? Thanks!

Sounds feasible. I haven't kept up with all the threads about this game so I'm sure this has been discussed, but I always thought it was strange that John never mentions Arthur throughout the entirety of the original game.

Yeah, play with a character and make him look the way you want and pick his decisions/actions throughout the entire storyline and then kill him at the end, just to play with the last game's character, yep, just fantastic.

This could very realistically happen and would probably be considered a storytelling masterstroke : recontextualising our entiere point of view of the first game's hero by making him murder the new game's hero who we've grown attached to, at the same time allowing for a remake of RDR 1 following the conclusion of RDRII. It's never done before and R* would be acclaimed for its novelty. 

 

On the other hand, it'd be forcing us to not play our new favorite character anymore and forcing R* to record a ridiculous amount of new lines for John to go with every new feature of the second game AND it would feel like a rehash of RDR1's ending. 

 

It would at least be thematically in line with the title "Red Dead Redemption" and R*'s explaining of the second game as "more of a companion piece".

 

Let's just see what happens next.

Maybe we can play as john marston But i dont think arthurs gonna die. Because he is most detailed character they ever made including dialogs with peds

Why would any magazine spoil the (supposed) ending of a story? I can understand a walkthrough or strategy guide doing it and even then I think it'd only be an inference. It would make sense but I'm still calling BS.

Same it just doesn't add up, also i feel as though one of the leaked trophies negates Arthur dying, atleast before john

That wasn't from a Japanese magazine, it was some random new account saying they had seen streamed footage from youtube.

 

This would require a)someone to be able to play/stream the game and b)someone already at the end of the story and c)the person not to be obviously trolling; pretty much every trolly person has been going with the "Arthur dies" shtick because coming up with an original twist based on the scant information we have on the game that also has shock factor is nigh-on impossible, so expect to hear a lot of """leakers""" saying that arthur dies in some way.

Like I said before, it triggers me when people post about how much they'd love it if that twist happens, are you for real brother? you wanna play as a character that's well-developed all the way until the end just for you to switch to the last game's protagonist? get out of here with that lazy garbage.

 

A conflict between the two that doesn't lead to anything else would be interesting, them teaming up would be a cliché plot but an acceptable one as well, but them killing each other just for us to play with a different "model" that was once an NPC in the same game just because he was the protag in the first game is just stupid.

There was yet another leak about John killing Arthur, the poster claimed it came from Instagram, but this was on 4chan so take it with a grain of salt, but it went into detail.
