Which edition did you buy?

I'm still on the fence but I'm leaning towards the physical standard edition copy. Don't even want to buy digitally because I really don't want the cash bonus. On the other hand, I really want the "Gang Hideout" and the Bank Heist mission.

Ultimate Edition (physical).

Just had to have that steel book and map. I purchased the Limited Edition of RDR1 when that first came out and still got it in the drawer here, even though the PS3 is now buried in the attic somewhere! I do have it now in the remastered version on the X1X.

  • It's 60 bucks for standard edition. For a Full Game
  • But it's additional 20 bucks for 1 outfit, 1 mission, a few consumables and whatever...
  • And it's another additional 20 bucks for a few dollars more, 1 outfit and whatnot in multiplayer.

So you're paying  40 more bucks for content worth merely less than 1% of the whole game.

Yea but, I will probably end up beating the game several times and spending several hundred hours playing, the extra $20 might be worth it.  Damn these god damn marketing schemes. Why do they force me to choose on the money slider how much extra content I want in the game. Just make the game cost $90 and be done with it.

Ultimate Edition (Digital). I doubt the additional content will be all that worth it but I seldom buy new games so I figured I may as well go all out.

Special

Ultimate is a waste in my eyes. It gives you a small headstart in multiplayer that will only help for like maybe the first week or few days after the release of online.

Special has the mission and the one hideout but the rest is a waste of content imo.

I chose to get special as i wanted that mission. It may become free later on but i want to be able to play it at release. Plus i don't mind paying a bit extra for a game i've been waiting for 6+ years.

You are basically buying two slices of a pizza...

  • The First slice costs 6$
  • The Second slice costs 4$, which is more than half a price of the First slice (3$)
  • But then you realize that the first slice is a healthy slice of pizza, and the second slice is not a slice, it's a single pepperoni, a topping.

They have just sold you a single piece of pepperoni more expensive than half of a full pizza slice...fuck-you-pizza.png

I did the Special edition because I wanted a physical map with it. I know, helpless consumerism, but I'm a map nerd, so I couldn't help myself.

Physical Ultimate Edition. I'm starting to regret know that I know that I'll have to physically fight and be an early bird at my videogames shop to have my copy...

Haven't pre-ordered yet (well I did, but cancelled it a while ago) but I'm likely going digital for the first time here.  Think I'll stick to the standard but I kinda do want the extra hideout and bank job thing.  Even if they're tiny additions, it'll feel a little off not having "everything".  I also don't want any of the bonus things they've talked about though so yeah, also torn until we hopefully find out a little more about how that works.

Digital standard.

The only thing that interested me in the Special/Ultimate editions was the bank heist, and I decided a single mission wasn't worth an additional $20.

If I reach the end of the game, and am still desperate for more content, I'm guessing it will eventually appear as DLC anyways and I'll buy it then........

And then the digital vs. physical decision comes, for me, down to convenience vs. resale value. And I don't see myself ever wanting to resell this game, so convenience it is!

Fist full of game
For A Few Dollars More you get the special edition
Ultimate edition has all the content: The good, The bad, and The Ugly

Standard physical. I think that ingame content isn't worth the extra bucks. Not at all imo. Also... I don't want free money, boosts or weapons. I want to start the game butt naked without a penny in my pocket.

With 500,000 lines of dialogue I don't want to miss any concerning the bank heist in Rhodes

Digital Ultimate Edition ; I only play RDR, GTA, NBA & WWE games & this year's basketball & wrestling games suck, so I bought the one with all the extra stuff, by my favorite company, in my favorite franchise, for less than the price of two new games.

Admittedly, it seems like it's only going to make the game easier (which is kind of a drag) but what triggered me buying it was seeing you get rank & weapon advances in the online, which is honestly what I'm looking forward to more. I don't have the time to grind & commit, so a day one head start is great.

Physical Ultimate Edition. Even though I only found RDR just under a year ago, the amount of hours I have spent playing, and the bonding with my nephew ["Hey, do this 5 finger fillet for me and I will give you $5 and let you play for a while] made buying the Ultimate a no-brainer.

Not sure I will let him play this, but will see how explicit it is and then decide. His dad is pretty lax on stuff so should be ok.

Special Edition. I just know for a fact 90% of my time will be spent on single player. I had good memories with RDR multiplayer but i still couldn't resist chilling out on SP. Was never on MP for long.

Physical Ultimate Edition. I could justify buying the regular edition if it was a game series where they released one every year or so.

But since 8 years and a whole generation of consoles has passed since the last Red Dead was released I don't mind spending the extra money to get the full game.

Exactly. I don't play a lot of games, but the few I do play are all AAA titles that I get lost in. The price tag means nothing compared to how much enjoyment I'll get out of this experience.

Algonquin Assassin

I was thinking about getting the ultimate edition, but I just forked out cash for the Horizon 4 ultimate edition and bought Assassin's Creed: Odyssey last week. The last month or so has been rather expensive.😛

So I'll just be getting the standard edition, digitally and on XB1.
