Nemecsis
The only thing confirmed as a "property" for RDR Online is a tent. R* have kept very silent on the Online aspect, and it kinda sucks because I'm EXTRA excited for it. One thing I enjoyed about GTA was having my own place to live and running my own businesses. Buying houses makes me feel good in video games, not sure why. With RDRO, what do you guys think / what have you heard about the game property-wise? I love Victorian mansions, and I think it would be awesome to buy or even BUILD one in RDRO. Maybe we will be stuck with tents until an update or 3 come out? Maybe we will have housing options off the bat? I think it would be amazing to be able to buy a plot of land, get materials, and build your own house, but there would be issues with people buying the same land, but having different houses and all of that. I know it's not The Sims, but crafting is a big part of the game. I wonder how/if they will incorporate crafting into housing. Besides, going out and getting wood, bricks, cement, etc. and then turning it all into a house would be badass. Maybe you can switch up the interior to your liking? Maybe there won't be any housing at all? I also wanted to touch real quick on businesses. There are sooo many possible options, like moonshine, tobacco, fur coats, guns, cattle ranches etc. but I know they don't want it to be too similar to GTA. There are just so many cool things they can do with this game's online component, that would reflect on GTA, which I don't have an issue with at all. They DID say they'll take key components from the success of GTA and use them as templates for RDRO. How do you guys feel about this, and has anyone heard or seen anything about it? Commander S
Well, we're not just getting a tent - it's a full campsite, most likely along the lines of the ones used by the gang in single-player (so quite possibly multiple tents, a wagon parked somewhere, a campfire, basic tables and the like, plus somewhere secure to keep your horses): On top of that, there's cosmetic customisation - you can change the theme of the whole campsite, considering there's a 'Survivor' theme you can only get in the Ultimate Edition (with what looks like a makeshift barricade of some kind): And on top of all that, there's apparently scope to buy multiple upgrades for your camp - although there's no info as to what kind of things you'll be upgrading. As for more sturdy things like homesteads, it depends on what R* builds into the map - after all, at launch, GTAO's apartments were part of the regular GTA V map (you can see the buzzers outside the doors of the original apartments in single-player, even though they have no purpose there), so it might be that you can purchase living space in certain locations (Saint Denis, for example). I wouldn't bet on it*, though, considering how it looks like campsites are the RDO equivalent of apartments. (likewise, I'm almost certain that campsite locations will be limited to fixed, predetermined locations on the map - obviously R* can't have players plonk a camp down anywhere, since it'd be impossible to place tents and the like halfway up a mountain, or in a swamp...!) *...that said, apparently Arthur can stay in taverns and hotels overnight in single-player, so it might be that we'll be able to travel to a town or city, then pay to rent a room for however long. No confirmation on that, though, so that's just speculation on my part, at least as far as RDO is concerned. CrimsonFolo and Nemecsis

Maybe we'll get a quick travel upgrade, like in SP. Make the GTAO heist teleport legitimate in RDO - for a price, of course. CrimsonFolo
CrimsonFolo
I think that there will probably be like 2 or 3 different property types at the start and with updates, they'll probably release more stuff. It is interesting though as you mentioned crafting and it could be applicable in some manner but i think some people would just view it as a chore (e.g. Pick x amount of flowers or collect x amount of wood) Also there will most likely be some sort of money glitch so some people might buy all properties straight up and it might be annoying for Rockstar to roll that back. (However, they have said it's a beta so maybe that's something they can do or are willing to do? 1 hour ago, Commander S said: considering there's a 'Survivor' theme you can only get in the Ultimate Edition To me, the wording suggests that ultimate edition people would just get that theme for free while other editions would have to purchase it with the in-game money. Taverns or hotels or whatever they were called back in them days seem like an interesting idea, like they could maybe copy the GTA style in which a property can be "Shared" but it would break immersion a bit. I think it's best they don't talk about the properties now and just leave it to a surprise.

Good catch! Yeah, checked that again, and the Ultimate Edition stuff is a mix of "exclusive" stuff (the outfits, horse and saddle), and "free access" stuff - I'd been mistakenly lumping the Survivor camp theme in with the exclusive stuff, but it definitely sounds like 'get this for free, rather than having to use in-game cash', same as the three free-access weapons.
