Cow herding, lassoing, ranching, ect..

So it seems these features are coming back from what we seen, but should they be? In RDR1 it made sense because John was trying to leave the Outlaw life behind him and become a family man rancher.

 

I know R* shouldn't be taking any features away, but it seems a little out of character to see Arthur playing rancher while also being a wanted criminal on the run in a gang of outlaws.

My guess is it won't be "playing rancher", it will be stealing horses/cows/sheep from ranchers.

The other interesting thing is that Uncle appears to take part in these rustling activities with Arthur.  Maybe that's why John took him on after he left the gang.  The man clearly had experience working livestock, even if it wasn't exactly legal.

Right. Forgot about that angle of it. They even had Outlaws attacking  when herding in RD1. I guess all the herding gameplay will just be stealing cattle this time around.

Uncle told John that he used to be a rancher before he joined up with the gang I believe.

they’re jobs that arthur gets paid for i think. in the gameplay trailer you can see arthur and uncle working a herd, then arthur gets paid for something (what im assuming is for the herd) and gives uncle a cut. so it’s not like he’s doing it to be a rancher, just for them stacks

Personally i disliked those missions but if they're a side thing you could do to earn some money, i don't see anything wrong with it

Yea, might be similar to the night watch jobs we had in RDR, simply helping locals or maybe a friend to earn some extra cash. It could obviously also be connected to the story as well, but yea feels strange that an outlaw would be doing these kinds of things since I doubt we will have a permanent ranch that we take care of in the story.
