@Fireman - Disrespecting and forgetting Cruyff's heritage on some footy's desk at a friendly gaming forum = meh!

Look, he was important some time ago, he wasn't for the past 10-20 years, yet the Dutch football commentators and basically everything about football in this country (I live in the netherlands) came down to; "BUT CRUIJFF SAID THIS, SO WE BETTER DO THAT".

It is frustrating to watch people using arguments from 40 years ago for the game today. I didn't "forget" and I won't take it as far as to say that I don't want him to rest in peace, but maybe now football will revolutionize again instead of being stuck in "Cruijff says", which the Netherlands (at the very least) got stuck in. If you're Dutch and remember the World Cup with Bert van Marwijk as coach, you'll know what I mean, everything and everyone whining about "but total Cruijfball isn't being played". People and "professionals" were pretty much attacking Bert van Markwijk's way of coaching because "it wasn't what Cruijff would want". The problem is ofcourse that Cruijff probably isn't to blame, but all those commentators and "professionals" are, although he was clearly the cause.

I did put it very edgy, but that's cause I am edgy as f*ck yo.

Same thing happens here. When Real Madrid fans started protesting about Casillas' poor performance and attitude problem, all the press started calling all those protesters (Bad Real Madrid fans). Now he is gone and he has proven in Oporto to be a someone that you can't count on. Casillas (for me) was the best goalkeeper in the world, but instead like Buffon that he kept training hard, Casillas got lazy AF and his performance dropped a lot.

Oh and with Vicente del Bosque, things are the same. A lot of people want him out and want Spain to be less of a "Tiki - Taka" thing and more offensive and the press are calling us as*holes. You can't live from your past glory, life moves on and you have to adapt or either retire and be considered a hero. I might be tough and unfair but this is what it is.

I was probably edgy too and now kinda understand your previous post.

Though I've lived at the Netherlands for sometime (in a galaxy far, far away) I've never noticed that Cryuff's power that you speak of, I don't doubt it though.

Still, he was an amazing player (surely in all time 11) and the One that started barça's "recent" winning style as a coach/manager (I might say that I couldn't care less about barça...).

I know he went full Catalan & sh*t, even naming his sibling Jordi , though now that he's gone, that personal stuff shouldn't matter much with all the football legacy that he indeed delivered (thinking on G. Best atm).

UEFALONA strikes again with Torres getting sent off for the stupidest thing ever. (was a foul but should've just been verbally warned instead of booked again)

Oh well, 2-1 is the best result possible if Barcelona were to win. Towards the end it became obvious that's what Atletico were playing for with them being one man down and Barcelona's constant attack trying to get a third goal for comfort. Hopefully some of Atletico's center-backs will be fit for the return match next week. They're gonna need a hell of a defense while doing what they can to get one in and repeat what happened two years ago.

Bayern beating Benfica was pretty much a given even though I expected more than 1-0.

Real vs Wolfsburg shouldn't be too tough although I wouldn't underestimate Wolfsburg as an easy team. But it's obvious they're not in their best shape right now as they've fallen off in Bundesliga and now 7th or 8th in the table. PSG vs City should be a breeze for PSG since City have been sh*t for a long time now.

Suarez should be punished or something. How many times has he done things like this behind the ref's back without ever paying for it? It's ridiculous that Barcelona get so much leeway and favorable calls from the referees. On the plus side, they are facing Sociedad in the league this week with Suarez banned and they haven't beat Sociedad in their home field since 2007!

Umm..Torres was just as much of a dirty c*nt as Suarez. What a disgraceful player with that performance. Suarez needed a sending off as well, absolutely deserve it. At the very least though, he was frustrated and was hungry so nowhere near as bad as Torres' lazy idiotic tactics. What Diego needs to do now is strengthen his defence, Godin is 30 and he isn't going to be consistently match fit and has a higher chance of getting an injury, so now's the time to find a younger talent who can develop and eventually replace Godin.

Benfica surprised many, many people last night. I'm sure as hell that most was expecting a far score in the end but Benfica carried out a difficult thing and is probably hopeful for 2nd leg now yet they'll have to effort as much as they did in the 1st leg. But if they achieve that, it will be really hard to see who's favorite in other fixtures from now on.

:D

2-2 I'll take that, considering Fernando's f*ck up, that's two good away goals to give us a bit of leeway.

Absolutely awful game by everyone in Real Madrid. Can't figure out for the life of me why Danilo keeps getting playing time. He's just awful. Keeps losing the ball and can't give a simple pass. Wolfsburg did everything they had to do and we're kind of lucky the score wasn't more because Schürrle missed a pretty good opportunity on a counter attack. While I understand playing the same team that worked against Barcelona, Isco and James are too good to be constantly benched. Hope James starts in the return match. All hope is not gone yet because we tend to perform well at home under Zidane. Just a shame we couldn't get an away goal. And plz, don't start with Danilo again. Simply embarrassing, worst of all to follow an excellent Clasico win with this...

All my Barça friends: "Oh Real Madrid gets the easier team while we get the hard one". They got Juventus.

Result: Barça beats the "difficult team" by a lot, Real madrid Losses.

2-2 is a decent result, but it could have gone either way. We could have easily been 2-0 down by two Ibra goals within the first 30 mins.

On the other hand, we could have maintained, or even extended our lead after Kevin's goal, before Fernando proceeded to mess things up.

Anyhow, a pretty entertaining game from start to finish. Hope we don't get complacent in the next round.

Real Madrid will destroy Wolfsburg at home anyways. I'd go with 4-1.

Ex-FC Porto players, sold for huge amounts, turned almost always utterly sh*t players, never managing to keep the same "standards", eg in recent years:

-Fernando;

-Mangala;

-J. Martinez;

-Falcao;

-Danilo;

-A. Sandro;

-Iturbe;

-Otamendi;

-A. Pereira;

-A. Cissoko;

-Anderson (lots of them I know, that 31,5M youngster to MU).

James Rodriguez (RM) and Hulk (Zenit) do tend to blow my post away, however, if one truly wonders about it, do they still/truly ever worth those 45M and 60M (respectively) that were spent back then?...

Nevertheless, do keep buying from it, surely Brahimi, Corona or even Aboubakar are 30-40M's pearls, that will unleash their full power soon (upon some major move) and certainly worth that "small" investment...

Casillas will also be on sales pretty soon, those wages and marketing rights make him even more appealing.

It's good to see Nasri back in the side, really proves a point how much we've missed him this season.

Berahino missed sitters. Otherwise they would have won. But goddamn City, f*cked our chances of getting 4th spot :(

Nasri, you really need to change your hairstyle, it's hideous.

lmao, Sociedad beat Barcelona in their home field for the third season in a row!

Great day with Real dominating Eibar and James getting some shine. Now it's 3 points ahead of Atletico for Barcelona and 4 ahead of Real. The pressure is setting as the gap is getting smaller!

Okay, so if we keep LVG for another year, I'm not joking, I'm not going to support the club (don't worry, won't be moving to another team :D) until he is sacked or resigns, the club smack the board around and Woodward gets a grip. This year has been another disaster even if we are still 1 point behind City.

I'm sure FC United of Manchester or Salford City would appreciate your support. I remember years ago the talk was that City would have gone to the wall if we lost the play off final against Gillingham... all I could think of was, Edgeley Park better get an expansion.

But seriously what is with United, any time it's been Spurs v United, you could also guarantee that it would be three points for United.

At first I thought it must be the players, because any player under LVG would at least need to get used his farcial tactics and strictly stay in their positions which is opposite of playing football with freedom, but I soon realised he mentally destroys the poor fellas and makes them bow to his mercy and do his bidding. He's only here in the first place because he wants to retire with one more big name team under his CV, just a shame he didn't f*ck off back to Netherlands in Christmas. I really don't care if we can still make top 4, under him it's like playing ping pong ching chong left right up and down like a bunch of bellends.

There were reports which said Ed Woodward had a liking for LVG and may not sack him next season. If they make the top 4 or win the FA Cup, he'll instead get his contract extended.

I am so jealous of the UK league system. Just look al Leicester this year and Tottenham in second place. In Spain this would never happen... I mean, you would never see something like this:

1º Getafe

2º Villareal

3º Atletico de Madrid

4º FC Barcelona

5º Real Madrid

It's just impossible and will never happen thanks to the Real Madrid and Barcelona influence.

In other news who here wants to kill Ed Woodward, I can give you a free burrito loyalty card with 8 of 11 stamps filled in for the stand at the Arndale.

Seriously hope Leicester win the title. Also that Spurs beat Arsenal in the table, purely to make one of my friends to go into a blind rage at the loss of 'St Totteringham'

That's depressing to hear although this is next to impossible. I can guarantee you the fans can only get pushed so much, if this happens, there needs to be a strike against the club like Liverpool did when the ticket prices were announced and it instantly worked. And let's be honest, there's no way we are winning the FA Cup now, because the defeat has set us back hard. This job is all Mourinho's now, it's quite blatant now. LVG has made a stupid remark in the post match conference, and now out of all people, Carrick blames Martial for not scoring which cost us the game, it's going too far.

Usually at a quick, first glance at the Premier League, a lot of people just look at the points and tend to miss out on the fact that Arsenal and City still have a game in hand. If both of them win it, then Arsenal would be 3 pts behind Spurs and City 5 pts behind them. So there is still a high chance of Arsenal finishing second, or City(hopefully), unless they f**k their games up(again a high possibility). The coming few weeks are going to be really exciting.

Moreover, I feel Arsenal are in a pretty awkward situation. I have a feeling that if they sack Wenger, they wouldn't be able to cope up, just like United haven't and may slide down to 5th or 6th place. If they don't sack Wenger, it will just make the majority of the fans lose their patience with him, and may repeat a 3rd/4th place finish next season. (Just my opinion)

P.S. - When I was very young, I always thought Arsenal was found and named after 'Arsene' Wenger. :facedesk:
