From an outsider looking in at United (with a certain sense of Schadenfreude I must admit), why does it seem that Van Gaal is pissing off all the players and not really connecting with anyone at the club or fans?

There is no way he can not be match fit after all this time so I think Van Gaal is purposely not using him in our XI. The reason why he doesn't connect with anyone properly is because he keeps hogging his philosophy, and if people disagree with it, he doesn't take kindly to it. I don't think it's a bad philosophy, because it works perfectly in a European team, but he doesn't seem to understand that the premier league is different. I hope he changes his tactics.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3217137/Adnan-Januzaj-flying-German-finalise-loan-Borussia-Dortmund.html

Read this. He talks about how Adnan is only 20 and needs to be consistent yet he tries to sign an unknown 19 year old from a sh*t league for £36 million that could have increased with add-ons.

I've wanted De Gea out the moment his head wasn't in it. I really wish we could have sorted it a lot sooner so we could seek for a replacement but evidently, nothing is ever that simple. Instead, we're going to be keeping him on ridiculous wages and he won't even get a sniff into the team. Shame, really. The whole thing is a little f*cked.

He's had problems with this, to varying extents, at all the clubs he's managed outside of the Netherlands really. Oh Rivaldo..

Really abrasive personality going by his biography anyway.

Well it get's even more confusing...

Apparently LFP received paperwork for DDG transfer 28 minutes late but SSN have just said that LFP didn't receive any paperwork at all for the transfer :wtf:

I dont get my LVG sold a load of players, he sold chicharito when he was a good player who is in bad form and now we have one striker who is not playing so good. Personally i think he is ruining united, bye chicharito, rafael, van persie, nani, di maria

Wilson to go out on loan if there is a good offer. I'm seriously worried now, if he goes, we only have 1 striker, and 2 until Martial is confirmed as he's done his medical.

This is bullsh*t. Mistreats Valdes, doesn't let De Gea go to Madrid. I hope Romero gets injured for the rest of the season.

It's now official. Martial at MU for £36m, the fee could rise to £58m.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/34107092

Edit - "Although Old Trafford sources insist the fee is £36million, those closer to the Principality claim the add-ons could take the package as high as £58m."

"Monaco expect to receive 90 per cent of the add-ons from Manchester United."

Mistreats Valdes,

So giving a player a chance to train with the club and continue his rehab after a long term injury is mistreating? Valdes had the chance to leave for Besiktas but failed to agree personal terms. Van Gaal said Valdes isn't following his philosophy and sounded disappointed about it. Funny how everyone is quick to point the finger at LvG the man who gave Valdes a chance to play for United. Pretty sure Valdes is earning good money too.

.

Happy with the Martial signing (price tag aside) Sounds like it's £21M up front with a further £15M in guaranteed add-ons. Other bonuses/add-on's are Martial winning the Ballon D'or which if it does happen would take the fee close to £58M.

We are the only team in Europe not to sign an outfield player!

Well done Wenger and the board, I'm sure every club in Europe is envious of our transfer dealings!

So i went today to get my ticket for the UE Cornella - CE Sabadell for this Sunday and i was just wondering... Can this be the closest distance between two football clubs in the world?

Real's fault, I'm not surprised. FIFA should actually ban them from doing any transfer business in January and the next one, because the way I see it, they done this through incompetence and probably done it on purpose to get him on a free next year, which makes it a breach of contract considering they already agreed a fee.

Probably? no, definitely, anyone who thinks otherwise is wrong. This is the way they operate, unfortunately they represent some of the best aspects of the game but modern day Real Madrid, to anyone with a rational mind not blinded by their name see corruption. Only reason De Gea was not playing for Spain in the world cup was because he was not in Real.

It has been reported by numerous sources including Sky Sports (so no not sh*t like Goal.com) that they offered De Gea a financial incentive to ditch contract talks with United and sign for them on a free next year before this happened. So this outcome does not surprise me, but nothing will be done as it is Real Madrid, UEFA/FIFA are in their pocket. If this was role reversal United would be banned from transfer dealing for 18 months at least. Also this is leaving out the breaking of transfer rules by admitting they agreed personal terms with De Gea before the club agreed terms, now every club is guilty of this sure but it is still against the rules. Blind Real Madrid fans will disagree, and I admit that LVG and woodward are 100% morons, but this is all Real Madrid. Only solution: banning them from ever talking to De Gea, not jsut a transfer ban, banning them from ever getting this player. Only fair solution, let him leave to join Barca, just to piss off this corrupt shell of a once great team who deserve nothing less than maximum relegations like Rangers got.

Also on LVG and Woodward, we need a striker, you sell Chicharito for 7m then buy this young kid. What the f*ck? Woodward needs to be gone, like right now, immediently, worst Chief exec ever in football, at any level if you try to be worse than him you will accidentally end up doing better.

Ummm, not sure.

I think it was either this:

Or (most probably) this:

"The docs arrived in English and Sergio Ramos was asked to translate it."

He probably still is translating it :D

But Rafa spent a few years in Liverpool, so he should be able to read it. Yes I know living in Liverpool does not mean you know real (rey-al) English, most of them don't. There was always Bale, their combined efforts should have been able to decipher the mystery language of the Mancs.

So that's Scousers, Welsh and Mancs, who did I leave out? Oh yeah Scots!

In all seriousness though I want De gea out, I love him as a keeper but he wants to leave so let him, but not for free, if LVG and Woodward cannot convince him to sign a 1 year contract to avoid a free then they both deserve the sack, there is no point in them right now if they cannot do this simple thing of reminding him to respect the team that raised his profile to be wanted by his dream club. Also I say don't listen to Real and offer him to Barca, just to really piss off Real Madrid, I think De Gea would want to go to either of the 2 to be honest.

What exactly has Woodward done wrong in this case? Woodward is getting way too much stick from United fans and news outlets. Are we forgetting that he managed to wrap up four deals before we even went on our US tour? LvG identifies the targets and Woodward simply goes and buys him. I doubt United coughed up that fee without van Gaal's say so. United have been scouting Martial for well over a year and van Gaal and the scouting network seem to rate Martial highly. So highly that they think he's worth the £36M investment. Woodward is just doing his job. I also doubt the fee could've been negotiated much, Martial signed a contract extension at Monaco in June and the chairman of Monaco labeled Martial 'untransferable' He's a young highly rated player and United weren't the only club interested in him this summer. Reliable outlets pointed out that Spurs and Chelsea were both in him for him but failed to agree on a price.

At the end of the day, I couldn't give two sh*ts about the transfer fee right now. I hope Martial comes to United and becomes a star. I really like the look of him and look forward to watching him develop.

Chief execs handle the buying and selling. We wrapped up some good deals but dear christ it is obvious to everyone we need a striker and then we sell one of our most natural strikers then buy a kid for £36m. Then there's the Pedro thing, either he went there, talked with Pedro and pushed him to Chelsea, or he went for Neymar, which is an unrealistic target and he needs to learn to manage his expectations, or he didn't match Barca's rather simple and quite light request for the £21m up front which would not be a hard ask. Before Pedro the last time I can remember us being seriously in for a player (and not just speculation) then losing him to another team was Ronaldinho. Either way the man is a buffoon in this instance, I say this even though I do not rate Pedro all that highly, but we need a bit of pace, he would have been good for that. Give me David Gill any time, and trust me I did not really like Mr Gill all that much but I would beg to have him back now. My other issue is the price we sell players. We sell Van Persie, Nani and Hernandez for a combined £16m ish, 3 good players, Chelsea can sell an average centre half whose only memorable traits are his hair and a handful long shots for £50m. Sorry but we are doing something wrong here. Both parties are at fault. I can understand Van Persie as he is 31 but not the others.

But I also agree this is LVG's fault too, the man is a f*cking moron, I hate the way he plays like we start the game 1-0 up, I disagree with his philosophy, and he needs to start taking without pausing every other word (last one is a minro gripe but it does annoy me as I want him to make his damn point). This is one of his classic ballsy moves like Krul in the world cup penalty shootout, if it works he looks a genius, if not he looks a dipsh*t, but even a broken clock is right twice a day and he gets lucky with a lot of these calls. ALso still no CB, we sell Evans (thank f*ck) so now we only have Blind (who is doing well but is a makeshift CB), Smalling and an injury prone Jones for CB with youngsters Blackett and McNair, we should have got another CB for the squad, preferably one better than all of the above. With Smalling that would make me comfortable with our defence, especially with Schniederlin protecting them.

I hope Martial is amazing, and I think he will be, but we need a great striker now not in a few years, that is the long and short of it. Unless Wilson is the next shearer (in terms of scoring a f*ckton of goals) we are boned. (On that note if that happens I will be running through the streets of manchester screaming his name, I expect you to hold me to that if he has scored 20 goals in the premier league this season.)

Good luck to Martial, he will thrive in our team as he will get game time, but we need him to make his impact quick, a bit quicker than I think he will make it. SO what I said for Wilson also stands for Martial, You and Nathan can be witnesses as I think you are from the Manchester area. (unlike the City fans here :p)

Hope you see where I am coming from, and hope you are right about Martial.

I'm torn up about De Gea. On one hand, it can affect his performances and play time now that he's staying in Man Utd, which can ruin his chances of performing at top level should he come next year (or even in January). On the other hand, I want to give Navas a chance to impress.

If it does then you shouldn't have him, he isn't a professional.

Besides if this happens they will pick up once he leaves. Like Ronaldo. Except he joins Barca. (seriously I am putting a few pounds on this happening)

Also Berahino did not get his move away, so what now? he says he is done with Albion, so rotting on the subs bench? shame for a promising young talent like him.

I don't think it's a matter of professionalism, but getting rusty if he stays benched all season given that he and Van Gaal don't seem to be on good terms atm.

Oh I thought you meant he wouldn't be motivated, because I expect him to play. Romero is not that good in my opinion and Valdes is way out in the cold. Maybe wishful thinking hoping he will play.

Valdes or Johnstone need to be in goal right now. Romero's ball handling and distribution is so bad, no wonder Sampdoria let him go for free. Van Gaal needs to sort out his relationship with some of the players right now or else he is a threat to our title race which we are possibly out of now.

@Mr-Rabbit, the reason why we didn't get high fees for van Persie and Nani is because they were on ridiculously high wages. When you're shifting on older players on high wages no club will get a decent fee for them as the buying club is always going to be a club like Fenerbache. Good team in their respected leagues but not a big club and successful outside the league. If we were selling van Persie and Nani to a club like Juventus or Bayern Munich for example we would've got a much higher fee for them. I read the fee we are receiving for Chicharito is £7.5M which will eventually rise to £9M which isn't too bad imo. Definitely a risky move selling him and could easily backfire though considering our lack of options up top. Ever since van Gaal took over United he's had full control over players going and coming in. Woodward has his many faults but I can't blame him for going for players van Gaal identifies. The Pedro f*ck-up was down to van Gaal thinking Pedro wasn't worth the extra £3M or something stupid like that. It's been reported by a lot of reliable sources close to United that the club have full faith in van Gaal and he basically has control of everything. Going for Martial is a van Gaal decision. If it was up to Woodward I'm 99% sure we would've went for a more marquee/experienced goalscorer or even bought both of them

I understand fellow United supporters not having faith in van Gaal's 'philosophy' I mean it's not what we are used to seeing been played at Old Trafford. We're more used to having quick players on the flanks like Giggs, Ronaldo etc and attacking with pace and drive. Under van Gaal we are possession based team so it is quite a big change from the football we were playing under Fergie for 20+ years. Personally, I think we need to give the man a chance. Last season was all about getting back into the Champions League and we achieved that. Last season was a transitional season after the massive f*ck-up that happened under Moyes. This season I full expect us to challenge for the title, do decent in Europe and maybe even win a cup depending on how we manage to play in multiple cup competitions. If we fail at that then it's a disappointing season.

What are your thoughts on Rooney? Brugge second leg aside he's been shocking imo but I refuse to write him off just yet. Rooney's has had a reputation of starting a season slow. I would be lying if I said we could be okay if Rooney doesn't pick up and we end up relying on Martial/Wilson though. I agree with what your saying, both are young strikers and too young/inexperienced to be relied on. That's why it's important Rooney up's his game. Martial needs to be developed properly. I still have a lot of faith in Wilson too. At this point I think a loan would be the best move for him. Obviously with Chicharito's departure that would leave us even more short up front.
