@Claptrap - Russia/Ukraine are separated: http://www.uefa.com/uefachampionsleague/season=2016/draws/index.html

And, am i the only one who finds the whole thing with the new CL seeding silly? 1st pot are top seeded teams from top 8 ranked countries, and the other 3 pots are sorted by coefficients.

I get what they're trying to do, to try and help some underdog teams get better and make both weaker groups so they pass and on the other hand groups of death with every match very intense.

But even though i get, i liked the way it was so far, underdog teams can fight their way through either way if it's all sorted by coeficients from top to bottom, few good seasons in Europe and they'll get a solid coefficient. But oh well.

6 hours 'til the draw anyway.

So they can't play against each other in group phase?

@other guys: Shaktar plays in Kyiv.

They should not be allowed to play in Kiev. Didn't they want to be Russian? They should go play in Moscow.

So, Flesh and Bone, Malmo plays Real Madrid, and they'll come to Sweden. You gotta watch that! :D Zlatan's also coming home. Easy group for Manchester United, a killer for Arsenal as usually.

Barcelona got BATE Borisov, AS Roma and Bayer Leverkusen, seems like an acceptable group. Hopefully no defeats for us.

What are you opinions, guys? :D

No they didn't want to be Russian.

It was one certain area, named the Krim, that wanted to be free (so not Russian nor Ukrain). After that happend Russia kept sending troops and mercenarries into Ukraine and now they're in Donetsk and some other cities on the east in Ukraine.

http://www.ultras-tifo.net/photo-news/2665-shaktar-dynamo-kyiv-22072014.html

The first few photos are fans (mostly the hardcore ones) from Dynamo Kyiv, Shaktar Donetsk, Karpaty (local team from Lviv I think) and other teams from Ukraine, walking a corteo towards the stadium and they all support Ukraine.

Not sure but they also fight with the Azov regiment (Ukraine volunteers who fight for a free (Eastern)Ukraine while sepratist (rebels) are 95% Russian.

Sad the sports have to suffer because of this war. Many players left Shakter in the last few years because of this.

1. They want to become an independent country with Russian influence like Transnistria, Abkhazia and South Ossetia. In other words, a Russian puppy.

2. Crimea was anexxed to Russia yes, but the Lughansk People's Republic and the Donetsk People's Republic rebels are armed and supported by Russia.

Flesh-n-Bone

Just got two in one. :D

Real Madrid is in the same group as Malmö and so is PSG, which is Zlatan's team! Watching Real up-close is an opportunity I gotta take.

Well United avoided the big boys and got probaly the weakest team in pot 1 (after Memphis and Wijnaldum were transferred out) but got the best team in pot 4 by a bloody mile. Wolfsburg are far tougher than any of those other pot 4 teams. but if they lose De Bruyne to City then they won't be that much of a threat I think. Overall happy with the draw. CSKA trip may be a bit of a task but a few of them will be used to that.

I'd say City got the best group of the English teams, they should make short work of Monchengladbach and Sevilla in my opinion, and could give Juventus a game too, no big trips either which is significant. Italy, Germany and Spain. Chelsea have an easy group too (as easy as the Champions League can be) but a lot of travelling and I'd say the same of Arsenal, they should get through with Bayern.

Seeding seems weird, not sorted by coefficient anymore, to be in pot 1 I think you have to be league champion, I prefer that system to be honest, gives some of the good smaller teams like PSV a chance to get a favourable draw, but creates a lot of dangerous draws in pot 2, also means a top clashes like Man United v Real Madrid, or Barcelona v Bayern Munich (althought not this time) in the group stage a possibility going forward, depending on the league results.

Good interesting draw overall. Happy with Chelsea's group, only issue really is the travelling to Israel and Ukraine, but it's nothing too major. Don't have to go all the way to Kazakhstan at least. Man City with the group of death as always lol. Utd and Arsenal have some pretty tricky ties too. Yh, I think we've got the easiest out of the English teams, and probably out of everyone in fact.

I get the feeling we'll get Barcelona.... again, with Roma... again, and probably Wolfsburg, cause UEFA like sending us to Germany.

Although knowing City's luck we'll end up with Barcelona, and a trip to the war-zone of Ukraine with Donetsk and one long assed flight to Kazakhstan to face Astana.

Where really I'd much rather take, PSV, Olympiacos and Malmo.

Donetzk doesn't play in Donetzk anymore. What were you doing last season?

Not caring where they play... Besides it's still close enough to for Vlad the Impaler to want to take over that end of Ukraine

As for the draw, it's not that bad, least we've not got Barcelona...again

You never got us in the Groups anyway, it's usually only happening in the round of 16. :p Just kidding. Manchester City can win this group. Juventus look weakened.

Happy with the draw actually. We got a decent draw and it's good considering we've missed out on the CL last season, it's a good way to build ourselves back. PSV are easy, CSKA will be slightly tough and Wolfsburg should be alright. Arsenal are f*cked, City have an easy group, Chelsea in a hard group and PSG are completely f*cked, I hope they surprise people and bully real.

Donetsk belongs to another country right now. Ukraine doesn't have any jurisdiction in that area since it's now a break away state (Donetsk People's Republic)

@other guys: Shaktar plays in Kyiv.

Nope, Lvyv was their "home" on 14-15 season, a little "help" to Dynamo Kiev (not to blame, at all) on winning it.

It's a bit difficult to call it home though, when you're >1200 kms away from your fans...

No Russia vs Ukraine war debate starter wannabe, just some plain fact.

Chelsea in a hard group

Nearly everyone I've spoken to thinks we have an easy group, and most posts I've seen on other forums seem to think so too. How come do you think it's tough? I'd say it's easy because Porto are weakened after selling some big important players like Martinez and Danilo, they're still good obviously but they probably won't be as good as previous years. Plus Mourinho should have an advantage having managed them and being Portuguese. Dynamo Kiev are by no means bad but they shouldn't really trouble us, and Maccabi Tel Aviv certainly shouldn't trouble us. I think we'll coast through.

PAOK, Krasnodar and Qabala for us in the Europa League Group stage. A nice trip to Azerbaijan in late October, isn't that wonderful? Almost as great as a little journey to motherf*cking Russia in late November.

Wow, we were unbelievably sh*t today. Kudos to Crystal Palace though. They thoroughly deserved it.

I'm going to say this again; Ivanovic needs to be benched. Start Rahman at LB and move Azpi to RB. Defense is all over the place at the moment and the front line isn't offering anything substantial either. Good to see Falcao get off the mark though. The only bright spark in an otherwise dull performance was Kennedy. That kid definitely has a great future ahead.

Loved seeing Chelsea lose. Thought Palace was just brilliant and I personally think Bolasie is one of the best wingers in the league right now. Liverpool were hilariously sh*t, and Arsenal didn't deserve to win with a performance like that. City are the team to topple right now and are the number 1 contenders fo the title this season, I hope we can compete with them if we can take advantage of Chelseas loss and keep improving and moving forwards.

5-0! Perfect squash to bounce back with after the underwhelming draw against Gijon. James was on a roll! Also Danilo can become a vital part of the team in the near future.

Navas also made a great save in the first half. Don't think it'll bother me if he stays #1 and De Gea sees out his contract with Man Utd until next year.

Good win for us this round. Pretty tight match home with Malaga, but this team was a big pain in the butt for us last season so I can't help but be happy with the win. 6 extremely important points with some tough tough opponents. Hopefully we'll be able to keep up the good work next match against Atletico Madrid, though it's going to be hard. Nice comeback goal for Vermaelen, I start liking him more and more. Already plays better than Mathieu.

Vermaelen has always been good, even at Arsenal. It's a shame he had to recover from his injuries most of the debut season. Should come good at Barca.

We've finally sold Evans for £6m plus 2 with add-ons So ecstatic right now and hopefully we can make a signing before the transfer window or wait till January.
