To be fair, it's the right time for Tevez to go. He's 31, and he's not going to get any better from now on. He's still class though of course, but he's earned the decision to go back to his homeplace. It's a sign to show that he's pretty much a complete striker IMO. There's no club that he's been a failure at, in fact he was amazing everywhere he went.

Still have a soft spot for Carlos. If you had 11 players with his work rate you'd win every match.

We got Mandzukic. It's official. 18 millions €. Not bad. I'm sure he'll be very effective.

Cheap as f*ck. Mario works his socks off like Rooney does for us and Carlos has done for us, City and Juve. Not to mention the crazy experience he has had from Bayern, although he has lost form for a while, there's no doubt he'll rediscover it. I swear Juventus are geniuses when it comes to the transfer market.

All I can say is he seems a little risky because of his relationship with managers in the past. He's had a sh*t relationship with Pep Guardiola & a sh*t relationship with Diego Simeone (2 managers at complete opposites even) and it really seems to effect how he plays on the field. On form a beast of a player but off form a useless hump so Juventus better be sure to cater to him or risk blowing it this season :monocle: this is not the player i'd go for if I was in charge of Juventus. All that being said though I hope he works out and fixes his career because he looked unstoppable at Bayern at the start before Guardiola came in and f*cked things up.

In Atletico he never hit the heights, he never produced in big games and he was always outshone by Fernando Torres (which speaks volumes really), he had a poor relationship with Diego Simeone and simply put he never looked right for the team. I wonder if it's just a mismatch or teams or if he's a problem player.

He might need to mature a bit but he still does wonders with the ball.

Potentially he might become better than Messi.

Nope. Neymar is just so good mainly because of Messi. I've watched every match of Barcelona this season and I can tell you that Messi alone creates incredible chances for Neymar, but he misses a lot. He certainly isn't anywhere near Messi, and would be little more than half as good if it weren't for Messi to always give him a great pass.

He is a good finisher, but he's nowhere close to Messi from who basically originate all chances almost. Neymar just does the last step of a goal, score it, but it's Messi who dribbles, creates, and basically carries the team on his shoulders.

Here's a video showing off what I mean and basically showing a different side of Messi's play rather than the usual goal machine:

Neymar will never be better than Messi.

Messi is the best wide forward, playmaker and striker in the world right now. When did that ever happen before?

I always thought I'd never see a better player than Luis Ronaldo when he was at Barca/Inter but Messi is a level above him which is just crazy.

Well I've always thought that Neymar will be the next Ronaldo(R9). He does wonders with the ball, yes, but he barely finishes them. This shows he'll never be on the level of R9 sadly. And R9 at Neymar's age already won a WC.

And Lay, Messi above R9? How can one be so ignorant? O.o

R9 was an absolute assassin in front of the goal, and could dribble objectively, You would never see R9 dribble just to show off or humiliate, he was always doing it with the intention of getting into a better position to score. Neymar on the other hand, is an immature child who just likes to show off. He does not have the mental strength or maturity to be captain of anything, let alone the Brazilian national team. I can't recall a single instance of Ronaldo losing his temper and hitting someone else, which is something Neymar has done on a couple of occasions.

The sad thing is, the Brazilian team has no strategy, no tactics, nothing. They play a style called "tiki pass it to Neymar", which is asinine. Not even in the times of Pele was the play absolutely focused on a single player. Dunga is a pretend coach who got the job based on his connections rather than skill. I would love to see a foreign coach take on the job and bring a whole new philosophy to it. Sadly, it'll never happen.

I said "potentially he might become"... It's a possibility. I didn't say he's better than Messi right now.

But he could also pretty much fail at it if he doesn't change his attitude and mature as a person and as a player.

Messi has always been a very mature person on and off field. This could make Neymar improve a lot.

Ronaldo was different from both. Physically he was a tank, technically he was flawless.

A good old school powerful striker with the technique of a midfield quality player.

Neymar will never be close to Messi's level. I noticed it a lot during the past few months whenever I watched a Barcelona game. Messi (and Suarez, Iniesta etc) are the ones creating the chances and he's always right there in front of the goal to finish it. He's quick with his feet and got some freestyle skills but ultimately, is just a showoff and can't carry a team on his own like some expect him with Brazil for whatever reason. The idea that they would make him the captain just because he's the "star player" is simply comical.

It's sad to see what Brazil's national team has come to.

As a captain, he is the worst choice to choose from. He's 23 for f*cks sake, he has absolutely no maturity in him as a footballer to carry any team let alone Brazil lol. He's an example of where discipline has not been injected into him properly like Brazilian players used to have which made them world class heroes in the first place. However, I think Neymar has immense potential. His first touch is seriously good, he has the ability to dribble past players sensationally and his pace is frightening for defences. The only things that let him down are that he relies on the main barca players to create chances for him and he's lazy a lot of the time, which is holding him back from building his attacking capabilities, and second, he has an absolute sh*tty physique and can easily go down. He needs to improve his finishing as well as he isn't consistent, but if he was to discipline himself and work on these areas, honestly, by the time he reaches 26 or 27, he will be unplayable and be a massive force to be reckoned with since the absolute best of Messi, trust me. But with the way everything is going, he's going to ruin his future and will have a shortlived success just like Ronaldinho, which was a bizzare end to such a talented player.

This is what FC Barcelona press said about Neymar before FC Barcelona had an interest in him:

neymar.jpg

Translation:

Another rooster for Mourinho's Corral

Translation in the bubbles:

Left: During the final, it was proven i have the same quality as Cristiano Ronaldo

Right: And after the match, I showed that i can also behave like Pepe

And much More:

sport2.jpg

Translation of Main Article:

Neymar The "mohicano", What a Bloke

GOOD FOR REAL MADRID. Neymar The "mohicano", has all the characteristics too sign for Real Madrid; Bad Taste, Arrogance, Thug Behavior and Selfish Attitude. An explosive Cocktail with an excessive price (More than 45 million euros). And a Impossible mission: Become the anti-Messi.

Translation in the Comment from TOP LEFT by another journalist some days later:

Neymar doesn't have the "Barça's Profile". His goal for fame and his selfishness, made his arrival to the best team in the world not being able to happen. His presence at FC Barcelona would just make things go worse due to tensions. He is a dangerous bloke that can unstabilize the good connexion the team Pep Guardiola has made, to make history.

Neymar is a god like player on form and slots into Barcelona perfectly, he's unselfish - i've seen him give up many chances just to pass to Messi/Suarez and he's had the same returned to him by Messi & Suarez. I think MSN is the most unselfish front three in world football, they're playing for the team/trophies and not for themselves which is exactly why they're winning so many. Neymar is a c*nt & guilty of acting like a clown many a time but one thing he is not is selfish. I've also never seen a player slot into Barcelona on the left so neatly without losing a lot of goals/assists, same goes for Messi when he was on the right this season whilst Suarez occupied the middle (although they all move around constantly). God like front three and they all play for each other which is immense to witness.

It does. Except in big teams with hundreds of millions of euros and media covering your team 24/7.

I'm not a Barcelona fan at all, I do prefer them over Real Madrid though in terms of Clasico etc. I'm a fan of tactical football, on & off field strategy & players, I watch many leagues/teams/matches. If I defend a Barcelona player it's because I genuinely, unbiasedly, believe in what I say. I'll praise Madrid just as much as i'll praise Barca, Atletico, Bilbao, Valencia etc. I actually wanted to see Atleti pull off another surprise because from a neutral POV Atletico are the most exciting team in Spain as they can genuinely compete with Madrid & Barca whilst playing a very stubborn defensive style (ala Mourinho) which always impresses me.

Some people weren't impressed by Inter, Chelsea, Atleti but to me they played very exciting football in those big games - defensive play shouldn't be seen as a negative, I find generally it's the fans of the teams that can only attack that break down and cry about this strategy when their teams have no answer to it, heh. Compare it to Mayweather & Pacman.

As for Neymar, i've seen most of Barcelona's games this season & last season and the amount of times he's passed to Messi when he should have took a shot and scored blows my mind. He's more relaxed now and scoring a lot more/passing a lot less but it's still there in his game. He looked almost scared in his first season, scared to go out on his own and take his chances which as a forward you need to be able to do. Neymar just had the season of his life in terms of goals & assists whilst playing stuck on the wing, he's scored in big games, he's turned creator in big games when it was more difficult for him to impact up front in a mirror of Messi so to speak. If a team can shut down Messi, he'll turn from being a forward into being an attacking midfielder, create chances with his sublime vision and let someone else take the spot light (Suarez in many cases this season).

It's a perfect dynamic front 3, I can't believe i'm alive to witness 3 players of this caliber play together in a single team, it's absurd?

Most ironic thing I've heard on this thread. YOU also don't know him, so how can you call him a selfish player?

I am a Barcelona supporter and I can still have a pretty good perspective. I do admit that his behavior is far from what he should have. He's not really that young anymore as most people call him. He's actually 23 already. At that age, Messi has already won the treble with Barcelona. Difference is that he's not yet that decisive player that can carry a match on his own. Suarez is, Messi also. But not Neymar. He's just always there. That's the best thing I can say about him. Always there. Always there even with the tap-in or with the goal. He managed also to score awesome goals, but his main quality is that he's always in a position you wouldn't expect him to be and always somehow scores. He's also a pretty nice finisher. But he's never going to be a guy who does his best to create chances and score solo goals, like Suarez and Messi. I can remember a lot of games when Suarez was carrying the team instead of Messi, but not a single time when Neymar was.

He also doesn't have many assists. A couple here and there but most of them are either luck or just a favorable situation. Or just the impossibility for him to score so he's forced to pass. I read a survey after the season ended, and it was about the relationship between the three of them. Not a single assist was of Neymar given for Suarez. The other way, Suarez for Neymar where quite a lot, a couple of them against Bayern away and another in the Cup Final, but never the other way. He only sometimes assists Messi, or rarely another player out of the trio.

So Sky Sports and BBC are both saying we are very interested in Ramos and Schweinstegier. Ramos to United was all over Spanish media and British media yesterday and today. Ramos' contract negotiations have stalled and is apparently not happy at Madrid right now. With Madrid desperate to get De Gea off us could we get Ramos in return? Seems unrealistic but could happen.

I'm pretty sure we are already close to getting Schweinsteigger and we're getting him for around 8 million as well. But we need a holding midfielder who is young and established at the same time which is hard to find right now. I'm surprised what's happening with Ramos though, he's a class defender for Madrid and I don't mind seeing him play for us as he can bring the experience and leadership at the back for us. Ramos and Rojo is a good partnership but theres better options out there.

Of course he is. I just don't see him moving from his home country while playing for a top team already than moving to England and getting paid less than he is there. He's basically earning 4.5 million euros at spain which is basically 94k a week and in England, that would be around 67k a week. He'd probably demand over a 100k and I don't see him worth that much considering he's fast approaching his thirties.
