i think manchester united will be much better next season, 4th is not good enough and the players have had time to get used to the club, they are playing better and also new players coming in seem to be promising

Congrats to Sevilla for winning the European League again and making it to CL for next year this time. Feel bad for Dnipro because they showed once again that they deserved coming so far but ultimately, it just wasn't enough to win.

Nothing will be solved until that little f*ck Blatter gets arrested. As the head of FIFA he has clearly been behind all of the corruption, bribery and racketeering taking place behind closed doors. He is one of the reasons why the WC will be in Qatar. I don't mind Russia as much, but they're nowhere near as terrible as Qatar, where stadium builders are dying and hell, even the Nepalese workers? They were all forbidden to attend relatives funerals after the Earthquake simply because they needed to continue building the stadiums. It's a f*cking disgrace. I'm really hoping from the recent arrests that they sort that sh*t out, halt construction in Qatar (the stadiums probably won't be used again anyways) and send all those people back home because it's practically slavery. It is also far too hot to support the World Cup in Qatar. Not every player is accustomed to extreme temperatures. Absolutely pathetic. It sure is a good day for international soccer but no matter what, they need to get rid of Blatter ASAP because he is a cancer to the sport.

Edit: Here is something to show you all that Qatar is a f*cked up place to host a World Cup. Not just that, but anything really.

U.S. indicts world soccer officials in alleged $150 million FIFA bribery scandal

flIGXpx.png

The Justice Department unsealed a 47-count indictment early Wednesday charging 14 world soccer figures, including officials of FIFA, with racketeering, bribery, money laundering and fraud. Four of those accused, including two sports marketing companies, have already pleaded guilty and are likely to be cooperating.

[The latest | U.S. AG: Corruption allowed members to get kickbacks ‘year after year’]

Among the “alleged schemes,” said the Justice Department, were kickbacks to FIFA officials by executives and companies involved in soccer marketing and “bribes and kickbacks in connection” with “the selection of the host country for the 2010 World Cup and the 2011 FIFA presidential election.” FIFA is the French abbreviation for the international Federation of Football Associations, the global governing body of soccer.

Swiss prosecutors, in a related announcement, said they had opened criminal proceedings against unidentified individuals on suspicion of mismanagement and money laundering related to the awarding of rights to host the 2018 World Cup in Russia and the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

What I find it suspicious is that this could be a move to make Blatter lose the next election, which is obviously a good thing, but at the same time a way for Prince Ali bin Hussein of Jordan to win it. Now, I don't really think that a Jordanian Prince came out of nowhere is a good alternative nor the right person for the job. Which the f*ck are his football credentials to run FIFA? And what about the Qatar WC? I seriously doubt that an Arab Prince will do anything to harm the Qatar WC which has been assigned via corruption. Truth is that the head of FIFA should be someone coming from football. I'm not a big fan of Platini as a UEFA president, he did bad things and good things, but nevertheless he was a major football champ so at least he's a guarantee that he understands the game. Figo was a good option but he retired due to lack of support.

In the end the whole operation seems a move from one of the sides in the power struggle.

Everything will change in order to change nothing.

This is all wonderful news, yet at the same time I'm skeptical over how this will ultimately impact FIFA at the top. I still expect Blatter to continue as president until the day he decides to retire and the 2018 and 2022 World Cups to go forward without consequence. So a few people get arrested, FIFA's already tarnished reputation remains, but I don't see change happening until their sponsors start truly making a fuss and some big nation's FAs decide to boycott.

Blatter should die, period. At the age of 79, you'd think he'd retire to a care home or at the least, fulfill his responsibilities at FIFA properly, but no, he has to be involved and responsible for one of the biggest corruption scandals in sporting history. Don't care if he's very old, this guy should be kicked the sh*t out of and go to prison for the rest of the counting days of his life. I hope sponsors start pulling out which will impact FIFA dentrimentally and it's only then when FIFA will realise their sh*t and actually do something to fix up.

Wasn't there a Nike commercial with star players playing in a metal cage? Very fitting considering that Nike allegedly bribed 40 mio $ to become the kit manufacturer of the Brazilian national team. Must have been a very good deal.

Came out of nowhere? Doesn't have the credentials to run FIFA? He's (Prince Ali) the vice president of FIFA's Asian division, president of the Jordan Football Association and the West-Asian Football Federation. He has the credentials, he's a superior member in FIFA as it is. Prince Ali has also been addressing corruption in FIFA for a while now and he seems to be more committed to eliminating it, whereas Blatter sits back while his colleagues are taking bribes in the millions and asking for the FA cup trophy to be named after them. It's scummy and a major disgrace. I'd rather have Prince Ali serve as the head. He's young and he seems to be more willing to improve the state of FIFA. If you've read the recent statement that Blatter made, you will scream the word hypocrisy. He can stick on the idea of giving CONCACAF another WC slot, and invest millions to "improve football" but what good is that if slaves are dying in Qatar building stadiums for the 2022 WC? What good is that if FIFA members are taking bribes and making illegal bids for the World Cup? Australia was still not refunded the millions they put into their bid for the World Cup and they probably never will be unless Blatter remains in office. There are so many things wrong with FIFA right now and it's hopefully the beginning of a massive, massive crackdown on all the corruption that has taken place over the past two decades.

The argument that Prince Ali will support Qatar because he's Arabian is dumb. Just dumb. Also, why do you think someone who has played football should run FIFA? You don't have to play football to understand how to govern it. You have to have the proper credentials and love the game, and preferably have a heart for other humans and not be a greedy bastard.

The reason why Blatter isn't stepping down, apart from being a stubborn prick, is that he can see that the election tomorrow is going to oust him, so he'd rather go out that way than handing the presidency to Prince Ali by resigning. Which is a double edged sword in itself, as we run the risk of the rest of FIFA being as stupid as him and voting him in for another term... however, with Visa effectively saying (if you read between the lines) that unless there are changes then they are going to reconsider their position as a sponsor... basically it's our millions or Blatter goes. That sort of negative press, on top of the already huge pile sh*te is not going to do their bottom line any good... and we all know how much FIFA love da monies.

If Blatter was to stay on I would not be surprised if the separate confederations and football associations decide to consider seriously their membership of FIFA and decide to strike out and create their own new governing body.

Prince Ali is just some rich kid with an expensive hobby born with a silver spoon in his mouth in a non democratic country so why should the world trust him with the government of the most popular sport ever? Because he's the head of the completely historically irrelevant Jordan Football Association or because he's part of the same corrupted organisation that gave to Qatar the WC? Or cause he's part of the same AFC that guaranteed support to Blatter even after yesterday?

Where's his football cultural background and knowledge of the game? Did he acquire it by watching football matches live from the FIFA seats?

Prince Ali and Blatter are the same sh*t to me. Football bureaucrats with zero understanding of the game.

And I didn't say a former player should run FIFA, I said that it should be someone coming from the world of football with a clear and proven knowledge of the game. Someone for whom football has been a lifetime occupation and passion. Not some f*cking Jordanian aristocrat who has anything else to do in life so he chooses to have fun running world's football. Someone who has never worked a day in his life.

What is really dumb is thinking that such guy would be a good thing for FIFA. He would be just a younger Blatter or worse.

And how exactly do you know what Prince Ali is? Do you personally know him or are you judging him because he's a rich arab? What has democracy got to do with football lmao? I get that you're a bit skeptical but judging Ali because he's a rich prince is pretty much prejudice, but how do you know he doesn't have the knowledge and brains for the job? Plus he's one of the 7 vice presidents of FIFA which suggests he's not in it for the sh*ts and giggles. What legitimises his stand is that he only wants one term to fix the problems and then he will get out of the way.

The only thing I need to know about him is that he is where he is just because his daddy was a king of a country, or do you think he has any other merit for being there? I'm not saying he's worse than the other FIFA executives but people like him are part of the problem, definitely not part of the solution. People privileged by money or birth occupying positions for which they are not even remotely fit. People that are in FIFA just for the money, the influence and their own interests and not for the game. FIFA is a private organisation so I'll give you that, it is basically a business lobby; problem is it shouldn't be like that and the world's football associations should ditch it and create a new one based on the game and not on the business. A non profit FIFA should be the way to go.

Anyway seems like Blatter will win again. He probably reached an agreement with his "opposition". After all now that some got arrested there is more money to steal for the ones who were not, including for Ali. ;)

That seems extremely prejudiced, though. Just because you are born with a silver spoon immediately makes you a prick who doesn't know sh*t and doesn't deserve sh*t and should renounce everything and start from the bottom like the rest of us mortals? I fail to see how being rich and powerful would disqualify someone for this position, specially considering anyone who would compete for the position would be... rich and powerful? If you boil football down to it, it's just a bunch of millionaires shooting a ball on a field. It's funny you just seem to assume he doesn't care about football and is only in it for the money. With the wealth he has at his disposal, if anything it would make him less likely to take bribes since he's already rich. He probably loves the sport as much as we do.

In any event, I do hope this starts the push for a cleansing of FIFA. I don't think it's over yet, and there's much more to come to light in the coming weeks.

Prince Ali isn't just some rich arab, He is a learned man fluent in English, Arabic and Circassian. He excelled in the sport of wrestling and had also served in the army unlike Blatter. His ideals include raising the profile of Asian countries seeing as Japan is the only team that's actually competitive in Asia). To write him off so quickly is very foolish. If anything, he is the right man for the job.

If he was your average Joe I'm sure your opinion would have been more different. I guess money really does make you jealous.

Exactly. And the logic Tchuck used makes perfect sense, why would a rich and powerful arab prince want to take on the job to.......become more rich and powerful through corruption and bribes and ruin FIFA and tarnish his already positive image? If anything, he's doing it because first of all, he has a good background/history, and secondly he has actually done good things for the sport for example, he actually helped lift a ban on womens football which prevented women from wearing hijab, and that ban was created by FIFA itself. Also, being the founder and president of the West Asian Football Federation, the membership expanded to 13 countries. So clearly, this guy is serious for the role.

Fifa election - 1st round:

Blatter - 133;

Hussein - 73;

None of the Above - 3 (did you had voting privileges Doc? :)). Probably these 3 just added something like this along with their voting bulletin:

http://www.dailytitan.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/fifa_std.jpg

2nd round still to come, since 2/3 of the votes were not achieved by either candidate (I don't quite understand this rule when there're only 2 candidates, but that's fifa...).

Final results probably only tomorrow, though unless Blatter gets arrested this evening or Ali starts giving away lots of $ to Africa & Asia Federations, the outcome should be the same.

Yep... F*ck you FIFA, I give it till Monday until Visa pull out, I give it month before the the possibility of a break away spearheaded by UEFA or at the very least European based Football Associations develops traction. And I wouldn't be surprised if the other major sponsors reconsider their positions as well.

It's abysmal that people are still voting for that freak. It's like the voters themselves have been bribed to keep blatter where he is or they are plain stupid/living under a rock. Yeah, like Crokey said, the sponsors better act as soon as possible and pull out before they get dragged into it further themselves. Visa should be pulling out at anytime considering they've already have FIFA a verbal warning.
