Money can't buy you trophies. That has been proved already in football. It makes you more competitive but it doesn't grant you the victory. The ball is still round. ;)

And if I were Xavi I sincerely wouldn't give a f*ck about Terrassa. :D

The coach doesn't seem to have much input on how the squad is built at Madrid though. Perez buys the big names to sell shirts/garner publicity with little regard to how they mesh on the pitch. Fair enough, every once in a while things will run smoothly and they'll go on a great run of form and win the league or a cup, but there's no long-term vision.

---

Anyways, I'm sh*tting bricks - partly due to having a bad case of the hangover sh*ts and partly because I'm pinning Newcastle's Premier League survival on Man Utd. Never thought I'd see the day I'd cheer on Man Utd.

1. Money buys you trophies. If FC Barcelona had the same amount of money like Espanyol, they wouldn't have Neymar and Suarez in their squad. Malaga almost made it to the Champions Semifinals a few years back and Manchester City has won two league titles.

Even my team made it to the Europa League back in the 1980's since the region of Sabadell was one of the most important Textile Manufacturers in Spain and the Company owners invested a lot of money in their local team.

Remember this is Modern Football back in the old days you could see small teams massacre big teams and win trophies now that's gone. I live in a country where you know that every year, FC Barcelona and Real Madrid are the only one that can win the league tittle or the Spanish Cup.

Just look at FC Barcelona, Out of 38 matches they won 30...

I remember posting here that Brendan Rodgers is a hack when he first ditched Swansea for Liverpool. I'm glad he's been exposed over the years, utter garbage.

Kudos to Chelsea for being far out the best team in the EPL, they looked a class above the entire season. If Arsenal ever move their arse and get rid of Wenger perhaps they can compete but for now it's looking more like Chelsea/Utd fighting for it next season unless Wenger really steps up his game and makes a f*cking push for once (how tiresome it is to see Wenger passively let seasons go)

Radamel's back to Monaco. Thanks for the chants. And the uh.. well.. that's about it.

Really wanted him to do good. But his wages and price tag did no justice.

What a hero!

As a West Ham fan I obviously don't like to see us lose but I didn't begrudge seeing Jonas bag that and set up the other.

On a related note - we were f*cking awful. Its an open secret that Newcastle have been diabolical for months and we actually managed to be worse.

For that reason I'm glad Sam has gone. Thank you for leaving our club much better than you found it Sam, but 3 wins in the last 21 games and a crippling lack of ambition mean it's time for you to go. The club have to make the right appointment now to get us into the OS with a team that can kick on and challenge.

So much respect for Jonas Gutiérrez. He beat cancer just last year and now he's saved Newcastle from relegation!

Jonas is a legend. Respect to him for first of all making a comeback from cancer, secondly, he scores for Newcastle and helps keep them in the Premier League.

Thank you Falcao for your services, but you are no longer required. His injury was the main cause of the terrible form so I can't blame him but he's tried at least. Good luck to you in the future and hope you recover fully and try to get back some of the quality you had. GGMU!

And Ancelotti has gotten sacked. What a f*cking joke. No wonder outsiders laugh at the chaotic environment caused by the higher-ups. Kinda tough to be a fan when the team is more like a toy for Perez to play around with and to make money off of rather than an actual football team competing to be the best. Oh well, Benitez seems to be all but ready to take Carlo's place, we shall see what he has to offer.

Benitez's Napoli was the team with the most schizophrenic performances during this season in Italy. Not sure he's the right coach for RM. Anyway Florentino is a joke.

Kinda makes me laugh that Jonas saved Newcastle from relegation because the club has treated him like complete sh*t for a good while now.

Ancelotti was always going to get sacked after a season with 0 trophies, Perez is a c*nt with no patience. I really hope Klopp does not end up at Madrid as he'd probably end up sacked a year later also because Barcelona do not look like they're gonna get weaker.

Oh well, I imagine that this is the signal that Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo will weaken even by little in the future. Both have achieved highest success of the last decade under him. However, for Florentino Perez to sack Carlo Ancelotti after everything he did last season, and even including that incredible win streak this season, is a f*cking joke. This is what happens when a clueless man when it comes to football has so many millions to handle.

Should ease up our next season, at least the first half with the transfer ban. Hopefully.

Yep, and from what Jonas himself says, Pardew was behind that treatment too.

Yeah, I've heard bad things and everyone seems to prepare for the worst with him as replacement. I can only hope for the best. Ancelotti may not be perfect, but the team needs stability and we were really getting into the groove under his management. At least one more season with him should've happened. Unfortunately, Perez has failed to get the memo and remains as clueless as ever, by putting all his focus on the glitz and glamor of the RM brand rather than the team.

Not a coincidence that the team went on a slump after Del Bosque left and all the focus was put on signing offensive players with no attention given towards the defense. On his wikipedia, it also says he refused to buy Patrick Vieira because his wage was too much for a "defensive player". No wonder Ronaldinho tore us apart during that time and we finally won La Liga again when he f*cked off and Cannavaro was brought in after WC 06. If anyone should get sacked, it's Perez himself.

To be honest I think Del Bosque back then should have become RM's Ferguson.

Very good article in Marca.

Sorry, only in Spanish.

Perez is at least 10x worse than Mike Ashley lol. The difference between them is one team is a galactico and the other a struggling bottom half team who should be in fact in the top 10 easy. Get them both together in a room alone and who knows what the f*ck would happen. They'd end up sacking each other's balls.

As a Real fan, I'm disgraced by Perez's decision. I feel he should leave the club president position. :/

Newcastle just deemed him not good enough for the club; I doubt it had anything to do with his cancer. It's just that the timing of it all made it seem as if he was being punished for having cancer.

Not a RM fan, but I, too, am absolutely disgusted by the fact that Ancelotti got the sack. Roman sacking him after a trophy-less season was bad enough; this is even worse. How the f*ck can you sack someone just a season after they have won you the CL? Perez, you c*nt.

I wouldn't be so annoyed about the sacking if it wasn't for the fact that Perez is clearly the only one who was down with the idea. Everyone else from the players to the fans were in support of Ancelotti, but this idiot decides to go ahead with it anyways. Basically, nobody else's word means sh*t because if it's what Perez wants, it's what he gets. He was probably annoyed last year when we won La Decima because he couldn't justify firing Ancelotti after that. Then again, Del Bosque got fired despite winning La Liga just because he couldn't retain CL in 2003.

It looks like Juve got both Del Bosque and Ancelotti sacked. :pp

Anyway you never know. At the beginning of the season I was pissed that Conte left and had zero hopes in Allegri. I was wrong.

It could happen the same with RM...

30 years ago the Heysel tragedy.

I was just a kid wanting to watch my team playing in the european final and I ended up watching people dying on live TV.

It was one of the most shocking things ever.

Aye, true, but Pardew and the higher-ups (can't remember if Derek Llambias or Lee Charnley would have been pulling the strings then) could have handled it with a little more tact, to say the least. He's seemed good enough since coming back - then again, that might be a case of everyone else playing poorly and making him look better. Still, he's played with a lot of heart/passion/whatever intangible attribute you want to call it, and has been willing to play wherever needed (wing back and defensive mid, along with his more natural winger position).
