It's not like this is a regular occurrence or has never happened in other leagues. Hell, have we forgot 5 time World Champions losing 7-1 in their home country last summer? I mean, sure, their defense was absolutely horrendous but La Liga is far from the only place you might see something like this. Being Italian might have something to do with it because I sure as hell prefer a goalfest over boring 0-0.

As for Granada, they even beat Barcelona last season!

It does happen in other leagues, but of the top European leagues it seems to happen by far the most in Spain. They just have such weak defences.

Say what you want about the BPL but it's the most entertaining major league imo.

9-1? C'mon, that's not a serious result for a serious league. It's ridiculous.

If you played against a 3rd division team it would be ok but against a 1st division team it ain't acceptable.

Defending in La Liga is optional. I don't like this type of football. I think it's a joke tbh.

I'm Italian and that might be the reason but I just can't respect a team or a league in which you can score/suffer 9 goals in a match. :pp

La Liga is the most entertaining league out there. You can't deny that.

A 9-1 against the last team in the table it's not entertaining to me. It can be for people who wrongly think that football is all about goals and tricks. But football at its core is a sport not a show.

Part of the problem with today's football it's exactly the fact that is being marketed like a circus act.

Celebrating this RM win, the way some Spanish press does, like it was some kind of great accomplishment or as a demonstration of skill by RM and CR, is utterly ridiculous and it works only for those who don't really understand the sport.

Such result should actually start a debate about how big the gap has become between teams due to financial possibilities.

About how can we still define a national championship a fair competition when its participants are divided by such huge differences when it comes to access to the best players and training.

Yes, there are always been richer teams in the past but today the gap has become completely unfair due to the insane cost of players compared to available budgets.

In the past small and medium teams could still play on an almost even playing field by making good use of young players and contracts with experienced ones.

Yes the biggest teams would always try to get the best players but it wasn't as extreme as today.

To me, a championship with these kind of gap has no interest whatsoever. A 9-1 win is just a joke not a triumph.

Anyway the problem is not just in La Liga or in EPL. It's affecting other championships too but to a lesser degree and in some countries things are changing.

In La Liga it just became ridiculous imo.

You have to see everything in relation to how much strikers from other teams score. Messi and Ronaldo play in their own league. They are also constantly performing very well on European level. Ronaldo and Messi would probably be the top scorers in every other league, maybe not with that distance to the next best strikers in every league, but still always competing for the top.

I seriously doubt Messi would be the top scorer in Premier League.

Yeah he doesn't match up to Harry Kane/Diego Costa. maybe in a few years time.

Been some unreal goals this past weekend in the Prem. Hard to pick a favourite out of Adam's, Rooney's, Defoe's and Zamora's to be honest. All goal of the season contenders imo.

I guess we'll never know about that.

Some players in football history were absolutely deadly in some leagues and then completely failed in others.

It's all relative and it depends a lot on what style of defense is applied.

Lol Citeh are totally imploding. Considering how much money they've spent they look so incredibly weak. Some of their players almost seem to lack interest. Pellegrini is totally getting the sack, I wonder who they'll get to replace him. I've heard rumours of Ancelotti.

We've just got an allergy to the penalty box that's all.

I could probably see Manny staying another season, and maybe going for Guardiola, if he's available.

Missed the City match, out drunk (Easter, as ya do). My God, The team has given up in my opinion. Which would be, not fine obviously, but less dangerous if we had of been streaks ahead of the other teams battling for fourth, seems we're in that dog fight now. Miss out on Champions League, Pelle will be gone at the final whistle. I'd guess he's probably on his way now tbh. Following in the same steps as Bert.

He's not built for Premier League.

Great day! Real pick up another easy win heading into the CL derby on Tuesday while both Barca and Atletico draw and Atletico's Liga chances are completely dead now. Sevilla, you are heroes!

I was happy to see Chica get a rare damn appearance and he scored too. Madrid need to keep giving him games to play otherwise he isn't going to develop further and completely wreck his chance of reviving his united career.

That's such a load of rubbish. I mean he might not flourish as much in the PL as he does in La Liga, but he would still tear it up. There are plenty of smaller players that thrive in the English game. It's no longer as physical as it used to be either, the FA have changed the rules quite a bit in the last decade or so to make being a physical team less effective. Messi isn't that weak anyways, and he's used to bigger players trying to stop him and bully him, he gets plenty of that already in Spain.

I honestly don't get why Hernandez went to Real on loan, he was always going to be on the bench, he could have just done that at United.

Yeah, but if you're gonna sit on a bench, where would you sit, in the rain in Manchester or in a nice hot sunny place like Madrid?

Hernandez is great a poacher but he doesn't have much to his game. Saved our skin plenty of times coming off the bench and that's what he's best at.

United v City later on. Not sure how it will pan out since City have been on awful form and we've been on excellent form. I would probably take a draw tbh.

Our apparent starting 11 vs City:

De Gea, Valencia, Jones, Rojo, Blind, Ander Herrera, Carrick, Fellaini, Mata, Young ,Rooney

Nope. It's:

De Gea; Valencia, Smalling, Jones, Blind, Carrick, Fellaini, Herrera, Mata, Young and Rooney. Smalling should be good but i feel Jones is a liability, Rojo should be playing. Di Maria needs to be ready as his pace can cause them tremors, but Young is in form so lets see how it goes. GGMU!

Edit: 2-1 What a turnaround and performance from Utd!!:evilgrin:

I think everybody who doubted Felliani needs to bite their tongue and admit they were wrong (including me) in his Everton form he's f*cking unstoppable, i'd hate to be up against that guy. What a great turn around for the lad

Manchester....is........red! So is everywhere else of course. United are back lads!! :santa::cool:

And Fellaini is simply a monster. The look on the players trying to get away from him especially defenders was glorious.

Fellaini is a monster but he always had that ability. Ashley Young has surprised me the most this season. He's like a new player. Antonio Valencia too, he's started to really own that full back position.

Yeah I wrote Fellaini off too. Credit to the big man, become a great player for us and is un-droppable at the moment. Young was my motm today though, another who has turned his United career around and has proved himself.

^ That does not surprise me. Hopefully the stewards/police will identify these scumbags and ban them from football grounds. No place in football for that kind of sh*t.
