1-1 first half. Really pleased with how the team has played so far. THIS is the Real Madrid that we haven't seen in months. Doesn't allow much space for Barcelona's players and always put lots of pressure on them when they have the ball. The BBC Connection has also been functioning better today, creating many dangerous opportunities. Hopefully we keep going in the second half and walk away with 3 points.

 

EDIT: Disappointing second half. I don't know what happened with Bale because he was damn near non-existent for all of it. Some pretty bad defending as well. If Neymar and co had used their chances, the score could have been 5-1. But I understand that the team made a tactical mistake and spent all their energy on the first 60 minutes which led to the slower last third. Constant slipping in the back line, short passes that gave away possession and the few chances we had, Bravo made some great goalkeeping on. Gotta give Casillas credit for a couple of those saves in the last 10 minutes. Ancelotti should definitely not get fired for this. Team played better than the past few weeks and they should put enough pressure on Barcelona, should they hopefully drop points in some of their tougher challenges coming up. At least we still lead the head-to-head so there's something we have won in. But to think that Real would still be #1 if they had not dropped points against Villarreal and Bilbao is what frustrates me more than this loss.

Incredibly important win for us today. Not decisive though, we have to defeat away Celta Vigo. Great match by us in the second half, way above the first. Disappointed with Ronaldo scoring against us yet again, and Messi not scoring for us. Awesome goal of Suarez though, such a beauty. Missed again a lot of chances, could have been yet again about 4-1. Or let's say 4-2. The ending was awkward though, both teams were basically sitting still waiting for the time to pass; on one hand Barcelona waiting for that, on the other hand Real Madrid not risking to enter decisive. Nice to see Mathieu score, it's his first in the La Liga if I'm not wrong.

 

All in all, good win is good.

Had a good day today watching Barca and Real.

 

Almost got my ass kicked by a bunch of drunk Real fans, lol. But it was a good game in my opinion, lots of "edge of my seat" action. Was expecting a few more goals, but I guess it made up for it that every player was dead set on collecting cards like they were f*cking Pokemon. I thought Ronaldo should have been sent off for kicking Mascherano. Granted Mascherano was obviously play-acting, the fact that Ronaldo kicked him should have warranted another card. Pepe dove a lot as well in my opinion, but we had our fair share of that too. For example I think Iniesta should have been sent off as well because he was absolutely ruthless, but he was really funny.

 

I think Real needs a good win to bring them back up psychologically. They are basically falling apart at this rate. Ronaldo needs to cut down on his arrogance and let Bale have some of the limelight. I also heard something about Ancelotti leaving Real, but I don't remember the exact details.

I think PSG isn't very difficult for Barcelona. I'd say the more defensive teams like Atleti are the ones who would want to avoid PSG. PSG have powerful players, very very powerful and they can score from anywhere... however defensively they're not the strongest and I think Barcelona will be happy to take advantage of that.

 

Real Madrid got a nightmare match up though especially after the demolition they faced at the hands of Atleti earlier in the season but that being said Real Madrid could play any team in the world and trash them heavily if they have a good day. Atleti have suffered vs Madrid last season in Copa but in the CL Atleti were 30 seconds away from winning the entire thing. I think Atleti are a much stronger team that completely have a grip on Real but like I said if Real Madrid hits form and has a lucky day they'll absolutely demolish any team. It will be very interesting to witness.. I hope Atletico can do it!

 

Oh and I have this strange sneaking feeling that Monaco will beat Juventus don't ask me why. Monaco very much remind me of Inter Milan in the season they won the CL.

Personally I'd say Harry Kane deserves it most. He's joint top scorer even though he didn't really start playing till November, plus he's arguably done more for his team than any other player. His goals have won Spurs 22 points, which is much higher than any other player. Honestly the guy has been a revelation and it's his first professional season where he's established himself as a first team regular. He'd obviously get PFA young player too. I'd put Hazard 2nd, and Costa third. But I'm pretty biased in that regard lol.

I think Kane has all but wrapped up the young player of the season award. you'd have to be crazy to award it to anyone else.

 

As for player of the year, I think Hazard has a pretty good chance, especially if he can continue his good form through the end of the season and see his team out champions. He's been consistently good the entire season, and has played almost every minute to date, which is pretty damn impressive given his critical role in the team.

Yh I'm changing my answer from Kane to Hazard. Especially after today. The guy is just insane. He might not have as many goals, but he is a midfielder and his record ain't bad in any case. His ability is just insane. I think he's the best PL player by a mile. Hazard for PFA, Kane PFA young player.

The title has been Chelsea's for a good two months now. No way they'll be caught but I think the race for 2nd is going to be interesting. We're looking strong, Arsenal have been great and City have been a bit meh lately.

Gutted that Barcelona managed to get the three points but it was funny to see them play defensively to keep the lead. Nothing special on Tuesday/Wednesday but next weekend they'll have Sevilla away so I'm hoping some points get taken away from them there. Then they got Valencia the week after, so things should be looking up regardless!

9-1? C'mon, that's not a serious result for a serious league. It's ridiculous.

If you played against a 3rd division team it would be ok but against a 1st division team it ain't acceptable.

Defending in La Liga is optional. I don't like this type of football. I think it's a joke tbh.

I'm Italian and that might be the reason but I just can't respect a team or a league in which you can score/suffer 9 goals in a match.
