Martial got something like 24 goals last season and there's the hope that he'll push on again this season, goals honestly weren't our biggest problem, we could always score more ofc but our attacks big issue was our right wing which benefitted from Greenwood's break through form after the lockdown but he'd have games where he'd go missing. We need depth, that's what fans were crying out for the second the season ended and it's what we're still crying out for now. We want to be able to start Martial, Rashford and Greenwood and if one or two aren't playing well, sub on good players instead of one/two of James, Lingard, Mata or Ighalo. We want to be able to rotate that front three without the quality of our 11 taking a massive nosedive. We dropped of massively towards the end of last season cause we didn't rotate and our team was physically shattered by the last few games.

 

LB, CB, RW are fans and seemingly the clubs priority. We'd love world class signings (ie Sancho) in those areas but we'd settle for some depth signings this season as that is the biggest issue.

Talk is it'll happen if Dele goes, and they're actively trying to move Dele on as we speak.

 

He's his new Oscar, he'll play him in 10 where he offers absolutely zero beyond some half decent runs (which Dele is miles better at and I'm not even a fan of him) but he'll play every game cause he works hard. His best form did come under Mourinho in fairness to Jose but that form didn't last particularly long if memory serves.

Having been watching this Amazon doc, I have soured a little on Alli having seen him behind the scenes more. Cracking player when on form, and a good lad to have around when we're winning, but not when we need to dig deeper. He is young but needs to stop the sulking attitude to be fair. Needs to start taking more responsibility now, but could be too late. Though if I read right we are looking to loan rather than sell outright but how knows, lol.

 

I would smile if Lindgard came in and really found his place though, but can't see it. I'd rather we concentrate on the back line now as we've good attacking options. Alderwierald just seems so off the pace and has aged so much in the last year/18 months and as much as Tanganga looks like one for the future, too young to rely on. Still unconvinced Dyer is the answer.

 

We need a John Terry-esque defender to lead us and give the opposition something to dread playing against. But very very hard to unearth such a natural leader/force like that of course.

At this point, I'd take Hilario coming out of retirement over Kepa. This is why panic buys almost never work out. What a waste of 70m that was. Just hope we don't end up paying a ridiculous amount for Mendy as well now that Rennes know we're desperate. Edit: It seems 22m fee has already been agreed so that's good at least.

If we can get a decent CB+RB with Semedo's money, this could be the best business we've done in the last 5 years(since signing Ter Stegen for 5 million). Semedo was technically gifted. But he just couldn't do anything productive up front after running the entire pitch. Defensively? Horrible. We have loads of these types of players in football who all just won't make it at the top. A big part of this game is related to your brain. Not your technique. Though these types of players can do better with a good manager that can properly guide them.  I'll look forward to see if Nuno can make him better at Wolves.

I agree with everything he's done so far except Suarez. I know he has to go and his time is up but It's suicide to just offload him when there's literally no peoper replacement in the market. I don't trust Depay and Lautaro one bit.

I feel like Semedo might do really well at Wolves, wingback in a back three, great team on the ball who will be able to find him with long passes and all that jazz. Could be a good signing for them. As for Barca's window so far, I don't see what there is to be hopeful about, it's just.. sell sell sell so far? I know they have some fantastic young players coming through but they'll need more than that. It'll be interesting to see who they can afford to sign over the next two or three weeks.

 

Also watching us last night and it is actually mindblowing how much better Van de Beek's movement is compared to literally every other member of our team. If we fail to sign a proper winger this season I can see him ending up out there throughout the season just for his movement, it's not like we use our RW anyway in build up, he'll just roam about. Gonna be a bargain that man.

I know but not having a good "traditional 9" even on the bench is never a good idea. it makes the team lack alternative options should things get complicated in a match. I personally think we should have negotiated with Suarez to lower his salary and accept less game time and keep him for one more season. Koeman himself heavily suffered from a similar situation in Everton in his second season after they sold Lukaku with no replacement.

Yeah, I agree with you really. They should get a real 9, which Memphis is not. As for Suarez, I think Koeman wants to make it a younger squad, so I understand he is getting rid of older players. Barca needs more youthful energy in the team.

Well, his constant knee issues and some of the blatant mistakes he made last season didn't help his case. I'm not sure if we can call him our best CB. He looked good when he started but has struggled over the past year or so. He's definitely fallen behind Zouma, Tomori, and now with Silva coming in, it would make sense for both him and the club to allow him to leave. It seems PSG are also interested.

Thiago Silva was pretty much the best defender in the world for several years, defenders like what he used to be don't even exist anymore, but he's like 100 years old by now no disrespect. I wouldn't sell Rudiger because of Thiago Silva.

I'm certain he will do. I'm just not sure it will be at Chelsea. I don't think Chelsea/Roman care for his club legend status.
