That PSG midfield is shocking, and I love Herrera, but Christ almighty. I know they were missing Veratti but I feel like that league they play in allows them to think they can get away with midfields like that in Europe, there's Europa League teams with stronger midfields, even if they did have Veratti in there. Not overly convinced by their defence either it has to be said.

I reckon either Bayern or City will dismantle PSG no issues, Aletico probably aren't worried by them either.

Edit: Speaking of midfields, I feel like A. Madrid has the opposite problem. Quality midfield but a style of play that doesn't suit them at all, players like Koke and Saul could do better I feel. Simeone has taken the club as far as he can as well IMO.

Sorry Barca fans, but seeing Phil score twice after how he was scapegoated was lovely.

How that team is what it is I just don't know. No pace at all, no energy, no pressing, there's no shape to anything they do, the defence is incredibly exposed and they're not great to begin with. Who's buying those players? Who is building that team? It just looks like a complete mess of random players. It doesn't help that starting Messi and Suarez up top is basically saying to the other teams defence and midfield "yo, take all the time you need, you aren't gonna get pressed". Cut off the supply to them, which isn't that difficult for any top club, and it's game over. Hell, they can't even play out of the back and that's something players like Pique, Busquets and Ter Stegen are meant to be great at.

Absolute shambles of a club right now, they've spent huge money on Coutinho, Dembele and Griezmann in recent years and one of them started on the bench, one hasn't played in yonks and the other just got two goals and an assist in 20 minutes against them. F*cking hell.

I didn't expect a win at all and already predicted that Bayern will absolutely smash us if we beat Napoli 2 weeks ago.

Humiliation after humiliation in the CL every year. They pretty much destroyed the reputation that we tried to build in decades as a top club in 3 years. Cruyff is rolling in his grave.

I ain't gonna name what's wrong with the club because it's a long ass list and everyone knows it. You lot laughed at my rant last year and said I was exaggerating about the state of the club but as you can see, it's getting worse every year.

As I said earlier this season my money's on Bayern. City's defense has to sort itself out. Bayern ain't playing around this season.

Holy f*cking sh*t, 8x2 on a Champions League quarter-final match. I never thought I would see Barcelona being completely demolished like this.

Crikey! Reminds me of when the Germans destroyed Brazil in that semi final, lol. Losing is one thing but by that scoreline, ouch!

Messi, lol.

I kid, but it does seem from the outside that you only get into that squad if you are in his good books. But admittedly, I don't know much about Spanish footie. 😁

Once again Pep's lineups have been weird all season. Bernardo was benched again as well. I just don't understand the way City play this season. They didn't have the flow of the last season attacking wise and don't look menacing at all.

And then there's the defense...

We've seen the same mistakes from City's defense all season. I don't get it. These coaches and players are on ridiculous wages and are actually supposed to know more about football than us regular football fans. Yet they cannot fix mistakes that are obvious as f*ck and keep repeating them. They bottle the simplest tasks of football. Why is that?

It's literally Bayern's now. Unless some weird chaotic sh*t happens. It's 2020. So yeah it's entirely possible.

2 French teams and 2 Bundesliga teams in the semis. Now that's weird.

Pep really thought too much about this one. I have nothing against Jesus, he does a decent job when I watch him at times, but he's not going to be their Aguero replacement when that time comes. It's crazy how anonymous he is at times, and even when he has games where he gets fed 5 or 6 chances he's not nearly clinical enough.

Honestly can't say I'm that fussed about the semis, which is rare. It's been hard to look past Bayern for a while, and even harder now. I just hope PSG get mauled by them if that's the final.

This was not Jesus' fault, if Sterling scores that chance City likely win the tie later though the fact that Guardiola has literally used hundreds of millions to improve the squad and he can't take City further than the quarter finals is a testament to him being an absolute fool in Europe.

The only real exit that is justifiable was to Liverpool the rest of his European runs have been no better than what any other City manager since 2010 would have achieved with this team.

And here I was thinking that City was going to be the most difficult obstacle for Bayern. Well, that leaves PSG now.

Watch Leipzig beating them now lol.

That Bayern team is obscene, man. They play like they're fully automated. Their passes just seem to connect without any effort.

But 8-2? Jesus. Welp, that's it for Valverde. And for this current team. A massive overhaul is needed.

Lol Valverde got fired 8 months ago remember?

Yeah. I guess we really need to rethink our manager choices when people can't even remember their names.

Well, my prediction before this game was that if we didn't have the game won in the first 60 minutes we'd lose.

The team is shattered still and Ole doesn't trust his bench, and rightfully so as the players on it have failed him all season. Need to get our fingers out of our arse and start picking some good players up if we're going to seriously challenge for any trophies.

Nowhere did I say it was, I was simply making an observation on him that has been rattling around for months. Evidently I should have been clearer.

As for the game, can't say I'm arsed about going out, but good god the defending for both goals was just laughable.

I don't know who the hell we're planning to sign at this point, if anybody. I tuned out of a lot of our transfer 'news' after the Sancho sh*t was dragging like every other transfer we try to make does. Think I'm past caring refreshing our subreddit multiple times a day waiting for us to get off our asses in the market.

It really says it all about the team right now when fans are almost universally on the same page. There's faith in Ole and our starting eleven, just get him signings.

I understand the pandemic changed stuff financially for all clubs but it's a bit ridiculous that we spent two years prepping for Sancho only to turn up to the deal and go "....actually, nevermind" cause of the fee they wanted. Even then, Sancho won't fix everything so if we can get 3-4 depth signings in this season then I'll overall be happy with the window - we do need some quality but Jesus man, the fact that we'd rather let Rashford, Martial, Greenwood and Bruno run them selves into the ground over bringing on Lingard, James, Mata and Ighalo says everything lol.

Before this season there was fair criticism of Ole and his record after getting the head coach role, it is odd to see how many United supporters believe in him as the way forward when most rival supporters are thankful that he's there as they doubt his ability to get United to compete at the highest level again.

Valverde, Setien, potayto, potahto... Two absolutely forgettable managers that were incapable of getting Barcelona to play.

He's gotten the axe already. Will be interesting to see what Barca will do for transfers. If they keep signing players that don't really match the team's philosophy, they're in big trouble.

The mess started when Thiago left. Now you have Sergio Roberto in his place who is not good enough. Pique was right when saying no one is untouchable anymore, and it does relate to him a bit, but even more to Busquets who is too slow and has to make room for Frenkie playing his position.

Arthur leaving for Panic to come in is just the absurdist policy that got Barca in the mess they are in. Arthur is a real Barca type player. Pjanic is just another regista which they already have in excess. It's both hilarious and stupid to see such ridiculous policy decisions.

Thiago is an exception tbh. There was no way we could keep him at that time. How was he gonna grow in a club that had Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta and Fabregas all at the same time?

The thing is I don't think it's fair to kick Pique and Busquets out of the club. They are club legends. They can sit on the bench for a season and two still and pass on their experience to their replacements. But they should accept that they are not starters anymore.

Umtiti, Vidal, Rakitic have to go. Suarez also doesn't seem like the type to tolerate sitting on the bench. He probably has to go too.

I don't think all the signing we've made are bad. It's just that new players need good managers to guide them. Some were decent in their previous clubs. Especially in a club like Barca where everything is different. Suarez himself experienced 20+ games without any goals in his first season till he fitted in.

The medical team have to be replaced. Some of these injuries especially in the case of Dembele could have been dealt with far better.

We've signed Trincao and Pedri who are talented young players. But without the right manager they are gonna end up flopping as well.

We definitely need a new Right back, new CB, a new CAM and a left winger. I don't think it's possible to get all those after COVID 19. So we need to be far more calculated and careful with our money than before.

THE MANAGER should be in charge of the signings not the board. In what club does the board decide what signings need to be made without the manager's approval? All those clubs use this strategy of signing players this are in trouble at the moment. Because it's dumb.

Jesus, look at the amount of things that need to done in a month. I somehow doubt this board can pull even half of these off. There's only one more year of this board left though thankfully. We just should hope there's something left to fix for their successors.

Maybe keep Thiago in the rotation by playing Iniesta as winger some of the time, but yes I get your point. But it is tragic to lose the natural successor to Iniesta in the way it happened. Sergi Roberto is an alright squad player as right back or a bench option for midfield, but he should not be a midfield starter for Barca. They should've found a way to rotate Thiago in the team. From what I remember Thiago had a contract clausule where if he did not play a certain amount he could easily leave, and they failed reaching that threshold. I forgot the details.

That criticism went right up until Janurary, pretty much. Since Bruno and our change in form and improvement in style of play there's a lot more belief that he could get us where we want to be and most fans I see want to give him more time.

Recruitment has been a disaster at the club since Fergie left and it finally seems to be going places under Ole as well. His only poor signing so far is Dan James really.

Ronald Koeman incoming.

I ain't gonna hope for nothing. There are a lot of things that need to be done other than changing the manager.

But let's just say at least he was a big enough player here for us in the past to have the ability to bench superstars and have the respect. Oh and it's pretty obvious that he's gonna play Frenkie in DM.

Interested to see what happens to Sergio Busquets tbh. He's 32 but in the role he plays you'd think he's still got a few years left at the top level in him, but he is occupying Frenkie De Jong's position who really needs to start playing in that role.

Lot of talk that he's going for Van de Beek which will be a good signing for Barca I think, from the few games I've seen of them in recent years, I feel like they've been lacking a progressive midfielder who can support the forwards, get in the box and score and create goals. Watching De Jong try and play in that role in the CL recently is rough, he gets up the pitch and he's looks like a deer caught in the headlights, it's just not his best role at all IMO.

Meanwhile, Woodward I assume is holiday given this weird and highly unusual complete and utter silence revolving around United transfers at the moment. Never seen it this quiet in a summer window before.

@Jason

It seems like they want to straight up end terms with players like Busquets and Pique. I'm not really a fan of this strategy. I think they still can provide us from the bench. Also they need a proper farewell. We better not "Casillas" them our of the club like Real Madrid. They deserve better. Financial issues ain't gonna let us go ham so I prefer if we just bench them this season other than completely cutting them off. Though they might just have to do it since these players have pretty damn high wages.

Busquets needs to go. I don't consider him as valuable from the bench, as players that are valuable from the bench generally need more physical qualities. Pique needs to stay. He's still valuable to the squad. As for van de Beek, love him but I see him as a player for the Premier League or Bundesliga.
