Where are you?

 

Some regions are not getting it at the same time as the majority of everyone else. I know South Korea is one of them. For some reason Good Korea has to wait longer.

Whole Europe (having GMT+2) is getting the game full 18 hours later then those who have bought the game via R* Warehouse (same region) .. btw. the timer has changed yesteray ... first it was the same as the R* one...

Im from Croatia and I'm still having the timer that counts down to 1AM on Tuesday. Warehouse version here.

It sucks for me with the 5 GB update thing...

Cause the install process is 2 hours and it's another 2 hours or so for me to download that. So when I come back from school on Tuesday I'm gonna spend 4-5 hours if not more suffering with the game almost ready...

You should be happy man, i can not play it at all, if the 5 gb download is necessary to start and play the game. It would take weeks to download. Does anyone know what it could be? Any speculations?

Don't count on it. Every version of GTA V is encrypted.

 

Is data encrypted or not?

Well, it's encrypted i.e not crackable.

I think that ever R* Warehouse version is encrypted, given all those x64.rpf files. Even MP3 had them nicely organized in folders so I think it will somehow extract.

 

Or atleast I hope so, otherwise it would be a problem to find certain files if you had to extract them from the rpf archive. And also it seems rather inefficient to store all files in such big packs if R* needs to patch something. But IDK maybe it will be like this, but I guess the game would have been already cracked if they could access all the files needed to do so.

Only STEAM version is encrypted, and it encrypted by STEAM.

Rockstar Warehouse and DVD version are not encrypted and pretty much identical.

They both lack of GTA5.exe which is real game exe, so that is the reason here is no cracks or leaks.

There is just nothing to crack.

And Rockstar do this exactly to prevent any cracks before release.

 

 

 

In addition R* stated in one of the previews from IGN or PCGamer, don't know which one, that it is anxious to see what a PC community can do with the game (kinda hinted modding possibility) but that would be much harder if people were to decrypt these files at first. But maybe it is some kind of archive which contains "folders" like it was in IV. But still in IV the file structure was very well aranged so I don't see why would R* change it.

For f*ck's sake, they do this because they DO NOT SUPPORT modding.

They are excited to see what people will do in "GTA Online content creator" and "Rockstar Editor" not about modding.

And I think they do this sh*t with archives (I mean x64a - x64w) just because it is easy to check crc and hash of 23 archives and not few hundreds.

Rockstar choose Online over the modding, and they will protect it even if it will prevent modding at all.

Ok the discs are installed and it is downloading 5GB of data from the Socialclub... after asking for the serial it connects to SC

The RPF files may be the new file structure for V though.

It certainly seems like it. Because people have extracted stuff from files like audio.rpf and update.rpf in the past (console versions).

 

I guess those aren't encrypted after all, then.

 

Some files are not encrypted but most are. Each platform has it's own encryption key but once it's figured out by the community by disassembling the executable file, there's not much Rockstar can do as changing it means all of the files that were encrypted with the old key would need to be re-encrypted with the new key. They could use new keys for new files but would be pointless as someone would figure it out and it would just make everything more messy.

Well I did get the retail version of the game today and I installed it. The 7 DVD's took me about 2 hours to install and after that it asks for the serial and my SC login.

The serial gets checked with social club. After the verification of the serial it started downloading a 5 GB update. That was pretty much it! It will only show the countdown

to april 14th. When I try to start the game with the launcher or playgtav (exe files) it will log in to SC and then show me the coutdown timer again.

You don't understand what I'm saying so let me explain.

 

The game unlocks in 2 days. For some of us, 48 hours from now on it will be 1AM. For some of us it will be let's say 14PM. But it will be the exact same time the game unlocks for both of those people who are living in different timezones. Now if you're in a situation that this time is still not April 14th for you, that means you will play it "early" because it might be still April 13th in your country 48 hours from now.

 

Get it ? There's no way the game will unlock early or late for someone, just count 48 hours from this moment
