GTA 5 is just such a huge mess when it comes to online, cheats, and banning.

So it's been a month since I last got the email that I was wrongly banned and reset. As of today, it has been exactly one month since I got the original email, actually. And before I even knew it, I get another email two hours ago that I'm apparently permanently banned(I literally didn't even log into my account in between this time, by the way). Thanks, Rockstar. I have absolutely no way to appeal it and I have no idea for the purpose of my ban(did someone give me money and I didn't notice? Was it something on my PC that looked like cheats? Etc. etc. etc. I don't know).

I was debating on going to the rockstar support forums and posting there just to see the replies, but it seems that nearly every single person there are R* d*** riders.

It sucks. The feeling of being banned in a game that I bought multiple times and have stacked several hundred hours into. Oh well :/

How a bunch of people can work themselves into a lather about a likely disappointing DLC that'll just recycle mechanics with high priced sh*t. It's heading into the summer in the northern hemisphere go outside. Enjoy the season! GTA:O has jumped the shark as a stupid PVP COD Battlefield in 3rd person wanna be shooter. R* isn't about advancing the game anymore. Give the bois some lube and let them wank away on their k/d.

Sold it's soul for the lowest common denominator. Cash card kids and PVP wankers.

More weeks doubt it they had one update we waited 92 days for. It happened a while ago. They never went over 92 days without an update. June 13th is 92 days since last update. If they wait too much longer more people aren't gonna jump on the game for discounts to keep them coming back. That's one reason I believe they do so many discounts and bonus pay events for.

fanbois will be fanbois. Mutually pleasing themselves I suppose. More action in that thread in hype than in the game.

Says something about the status of the game at this point. I like Elfoam's solution. Go do other things, it's boring.

What I'm about to post is not really about bitching and/or moaning since I have nothing to actually complain about. I just figured this topic is the best place to address this something that I've been wondering about for a while now; so here goes:

Why do you guys think people act like utter assholes online? I mean I'm not talking about normal interactions like PVP and competitive challenges, fighting your rivals and sabotaging their business for personal gain... I'm talking about being an asshole with the sole intention of bringing harm/grief to other players in mind? I'd like to understand what the reasoning for such is, or is there any? Is it just something people do out of spite for other people (misanthropy) or do some players behave like that without giving it any further thought just "because they can" ? Or is it a generational thing (the whole millenial argument)? I'm not really irked about people acting like that, I'm more worked about not being able to understand why people act like that, any theories?

Here's a few examples :

-My coke storage got attacked by a police raid in a public session (where I play 99% of the time), I started ridding off the cops to save my product/supplies; soon enough another player (whom I hadn't had any interactions with earlier) suddenly called mercenaries on me in an attempt to get me killed easier (knowing that once you die during the raid all your product/supplies are gone for good). Needless to say his attempt failed and I killed the cops, mercs, saved my staff and back to business as usual, he left the server right after... So he spent his own in-game money just in an attempt to ruin hours of effort for someone who he had never even talked to or met with online - a complete stranger. I don't understand the psychology behind such behavior ;o

-My coke storage got attacked by a police raid in a public session (yeah I get these attacks like 2-4 times a day, always the police one), I started ridding off the cops to save my product/supplies; there were 2 players besides me in the session at the moment; complete strangers whom I had not traded a single word with or even met before or even during that session (they were roaming around the city area while I was cruising around the blaine county). Not 2 minutes after I had started fighting off the cops at my cocaine storage, suddenly one of them initiated a vote to kick me from the session (if the vote passed, I'd be thrown out of the session and all of my product/supplies would be lost for good). Glad enough, the vote didn't pass as the other dude never acted and I finished defending my sh*t - back to business as usual. I just cannot understand why someone would do such a thing for no reason whatsoever, just for "fun"? If anyone does stuff like this please could you enlighten me with the reasoning behind such behavior? I'm curious, seeing as this kind of stuff is pretty new to me (I'm well past my teen age and back then people did sh*tty stuff for a reason or because they were drunk/on drugs, this doesn't seem to be the case anymore).

So yeah.. I'm sure alot of you have met people like such more than once, what do you guys think; what's the big idea? :p What is there to be gained from causing discomfort/grief to other players when nothing substantial can be gained by doing so? To me it seems counterproductive and quite frankly, a waste of time and effort

Someone trying to make you lose your product isn't really any different to someone simply killing you. Sure, one thing just changes your K/D ratio (which people here claim never to care about) and the other actually results in your time/effort/money investment being wasted. But it's all just ways of messing with other players.

Why do they do it?

-It's fun for them. Anything you've ever done to another player that you liked and they didn't, it's the same thing.

-They can get away with it. Just like posting hateful messages online under an assumed name, there are no real consequences. Usually anyway.

-The game actively encourages this type of behaviour by alerting all players of what you're doing and clearly marking you on the map.

But really the answer is that there's slightly different things happening in our brains. It's personality. It's preferences. What's there to gain from going after your product? Well apparently about two thousand dollars. Allegedly. I've never tried to mess with people selling (or collecting) stuff. That and the knowledge that players are bothered by it. There's simply no denying that people are bothered by it because we constantly post about it and a lot of us here try to make sure noone CAN mess with us, mostly by using methods to clear out the public session we're playing in.

You only asked for enlightenment on the reasoning behind their behaviour so this will most likely be a completely pointless remark but still: I'd suggest you consider using empty public sessions (depending on the platform, apparently methods may differ) so you don't have to worry about interference. It doesn't matter how good you are, it doesn't matter if you fight off enemies all the time with a 100% success rate. They're wasting your time and delaying your money making scheme. And you should be aware and always remember that that can be enough satisfaction for them.

You want to deny them that satisfaction? Don't settle for surviving their attacks, go all the way and don't ever give them a chance to mess with you in the first place.

I use empty sessions for collecting as well as selling stuff. Not because I don't think I can handle the odd inexperienced GTA:O player but because it's a colossal waste of time and by now I don't enjoy working on the businesses as much as when they were new. I only do it for the money. And when I only do something for the money, interference and time wasting aren't fun or welcome things so I try to make sure I can just get on with it.

Well yeah.. I've no desire to take away satisfaction from anyone per se, unless the source of their satisfaction would involve me losing mine ofc. I personally use empty sessions only for sales since that's something which can be f*cked very easily and cause you to lose hours upon hours of work/money. I personally am OK with people trying to interfere with my resupplies/CEO/MC work etc since it's their gains against mine (nothing to lose here, except time for both of us). I sometimes initiate work solely in an attempt to incite some exciting lobby battles and tight street gun fights, that's very fun for me (unless some dickwad comes to ruin it with their jet).

I guess what I can't find justification for though, is trying to f*ck things up for other players when there's no actual reward to be gained by doing so; like in the examples that I mentioned, where someone would actually spend their own money just to make sure I would lose my time/money without them gaining anything in return... That kind of behavior to me seems like just being an asshole or mentally deficient, or would you say a healthy and a stable person normally feels rewarded and gains satisfaction by causing unneccessary grief and harm to other people without gaining anything by doing so?

Someone might pull the "it's a game" argument here but let's not forget there are real people behind those in-game characters and seeing as games like GTAO take quite a bit of devotion there usually are also feelings involved with playing such games. I don't get butthurt easily, I don't take this game too seriously but I can imagine alot of people getting really angry/sad/frustrated by such actions. And in the meanwhile those causing such feelings feel rewarded and happy about doing so. So once again I have to wonder, what's the psychology behind such disregard/lack of empathy for fellow players :O

Hahha, I sometimes feel a bit bad even for trying to steal vehicle cargo or for trying to defend headhunter targets/munition crates and sh*t :D But I know it's GTA, not Hellokitty online and those kind of activities are part of the competitive aspect of the game (they reward you with money and RP). I couldn't live with myself if I f*cked up a major sales mission for someone else or otherwise caused them to lose such a volume of money/time :p Guess we're all just a bit different and I for one don't wanna make people feel sh*t for no reason, call me carebear but I'd call myself pretty normal for that

Never used mods.

Apart from whatever stuff Windows 10 has running in the background, I only ever have Firefox, Steam, and EVGA PrecisionX running while gaming.

I'm thinking someone probably did something to my character in an online session and I didn't notice. I never received any modded money and never saw any modders at all, but I don't know what kind of cheats go around in GTAO so there could easily be something I'm missing.

All I know is that I've never once cheated and now I'm permanently banned from playing GTAO on PC. Thankfully I'm more of an Xbox player, but this is still disappointing that sh*t like this is possible.

There is no appeal process and Rockstar does not offer up any explanation for why this occurred. They just outright ban and leave it at that. And considering the fact that innocents are also victim to this demonstrates how fundamentally flawed their anti-cheat system is.

How many times have you guys done I/E with the waves of Buzzards coming in and you shoot down a buzzard and it crashes into the car you're trying to steal? The first time was funny, now it's happened three times to me. Not funny!

Also, I hate that your crew emblem gets erased if you put on another top. Lame, as a biker that patch never leaves until my death.

Never had a Buzzard crash on the car I was trying to steal. Maybe because I don't leave it out in the open :)

Happy Hunter

Something tells me this update is going to be very "Special", with a lot of "Special" Vehicles.

It's a shame really. I think Rockstar has gone down a (most likely) irreversible trend of making everything goofy, child-friendly, etc. Just look at how they've dumbed down PvP. Essentially infinite ammo, instant suicide, Buzzards appearing on your feet (or crushed up under a tunnel somewhere), stupidly overpowered homing launchers (which I personally hold to blame as the thing that kickstarted the dumbing down of PvP).

That wasn't enough. Racing had to be filled with Hot Wheels tracks, sh*tty catch up, "Special" Vehicles, etc.

And say what you will about military vehicles (actual ones), but they fit the game a lot better than this stuff that's been ripped from Mad Max.

Give someone or something an inch, and they'll take a mile. Let a monkey mask and a homing launcher slide; sooner or later the game's infested with cr*p, butchered PvP, etc.

If we even get another chance - if there is a GTA VI, and it even still resembles GTA - then I think people need to clamp down harder on any old BS.

I miss 2X stunt races. :(

(People complain that events bring out the worst drivers but in my experience the players who I'm competing with for the lead in races are actually better gamers than the usual "I just race because I like racing" players I compete with the rest of the time. I'm winning more but it's much less challenging.)

I get kicked quite a bit from on call jobs. I don't think it's personal, I've seen 7 people join 'Titan of a Job' only to have one kicked while it's loading. Also I'll kick people that are stuck joining just so we can start that dam thing before everyone else leaves.

I used to kick on call players any time I thought I wouldn't be able to get enough players to start the job, just to not get an on call host after I quit. Nothing personal, but on call hosting is mostly a waste of time for all involved.

Rockstar support is cancer. They will always play the stat police and accuse you of cheating cash, but when you call them out on their stats, you get an automatic ban. Wtf? Also, a lot of them are oblivious as to what actually goes on in the game.

Oh, and don't forget Rockstar's troubleshooting tips.
