The Volatus.

What a useless helicopter. You can't even land it quickly, or else you're f*cked. It reminds me of the Savage, but without weapons.

The f*ck else did you expect from a sizable luxury helicopter? Buzzard-like capabilities?

to be able to land it like a normal helicopter ;)

Professional Amateur

Decided to hop back into GTAO for a bit yesterday with a friend. About an hour into the session, the Hunt The Beast event pops up, and by chance, as he usually does, he became the beast.

Fast forward a few minutes and I try to give my friend my Ruiner 2000 to help him win the event in safety and style. He declined and rode off on his bike, so I hop in my Ruiner for a bit of a cruise. As soon as I get in and start driving, some edgy tryhard with some gamertag referencing drug use goes ghost org. Full tribal face paint and BP helmet too. I get a gut feeling he has a Hydra on a heading straight for me. Yep, but he loses this advantage upon locking on with missiles instead of using cannons. I just take the easy way out to negate him that free jet kill. Pansy move for some, but I don't care about honour when a jet tries to kill me as I'm minding my own business.

I just go passive since I couldn't be bothered and I had things to attend to outside of the game. As soon as I come back, still standing around in passive, I see a godawful Armoured Kuruma lining up to roadkill me. I just pretend I'm AFK a bit longer to see if he's really going to try that. Why does he need a bulletproof car to kill a passive mode player? Is he that sensitive about his modded KD? Anyway, he gets a bit of speed and bails out. I gently walk off to the side, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway. He bailed way too late.

I walk back over to my Ruiner but I have to go AFK again. I come back a minute later to him doing the marksman rifle tango with a sticky bomb at his feet and a rocket launcher in his hand, spamming explosives at my car. Are you f*ckin' serious? Doing the crack addict dance at point blank range with a bomb on the ground and a rocket launcher in hand, just to try to kill a semi-inactive player? That is sad.

To top it off, he messages me 'ur trash lol', so I just respond with 'k.' and drive off. Just because I don't want to pad some suicidal idiot's stats doesn't mean I'm a bad player, bugger off mate. He left a short time later after having his jet shot down, which makes it even better. Sorry for this wall of text, but it annoyed me a lot for some reason.

The average player's not what they used to be.

I think part of it's all these easy/lazy things Rockstar have added - having explosive ammo on demand, being able to drop a sticky at your feet without even changing weapons, being able to spawn a Buzzard at your feet all the time, having weapons that basically play the game for you*, and so on and on and on.

The old tryhards could be irritating, but now there's all sorts of degenerates going around.

*Yes, the homing launcher.

...That can be locked onto. You can't lock onto a homing launcher.

I don't recall ever locking onto a person pointing a homing launcher at me, while flying my non-snowball-resistant helicopter.

Hell, the thing can't even actually aim/pivot its weapons - let alone lock on.

A helicopter isn't an immensely portable SAM bunker though. You either have to go to a helipad or spawn one near you via SecuroServ, which can be immense risks with players nearby. If they go down, you have to drive back to a helipad or wait another 2 minutes. You can just zing-bop more ammo for the handheld missile launcher on the spot at a relatively low price. Fair enough, spawning a light attack helicopter on your feet is a little excessive, but there is no comparison between handheld and helicopter. I know my brethren already responded, but I'm just putting my two cents in here.

And people in cars - which is around 75-80% of players on the ground from my observations - are sitting ducks with absolutely no recourse nor defense other than getting out of their cars to use their own homing missiles, which usually happens after they get blown up by said helicopter.

Aircraft missiles are vastly ineffective against ground players. No one uses them, unless you are sitting still, as they won't hit a moving target 90% of the time.

If a chopper wants to stand a chance, you have to get up close with the gun, putting yourself at risk.

Homing launcher missiles are much more accurate.

which usually happens after they get blown up by said helicopter.

Only if they're utterly incompetent players who somehow missed the great big helicopter blip on their radar, or took the risk of not preparing despite knowing someone's following.

I can pull out several videos of myself beating multiple helicopters easily, without a homing launcher, to back up my point. Can you provide the same in a helicopter?

Not that you need to - this picking apart of a b*tch and moan post, in the b*tch and moan thread, has no place here anyway. The point of my post is that the game has had changes and additions that cater very much to the "hand it to me now, do it all for me" crowd.
If the small part of it you've cut out bothers you, meh - it's the B&M, check your vehicle privilege, etc.

So I decided to just do the Cargobob export mission. I usually just skip it.

I fly all the way over there, do what I'm suppose to do, hook the car up, get it off the boat, and it just magically detaches from the Cargobob into the ocean.

Detach glitch my my ass. This is intentional.

I just don't do those, or the one where the car is getting chased by cops. They are a waste of time. It's quicker to change sessions and start a new one.

Do a couple resupplies for coke, someone blows up the third. Complete one more, all supplies disappear...

I only ever do those if I'm solo, that's the only time it never randomly detaches for me. If other players are in the lobby then beware, if I do the mission in that case I drop the car at the shore asap and call up a backup chopper to deal with the buzzards so I can speed off if I don't want to deal with them myself.

On that note I've had two cars randomly burst into flames while I've been solo now, no one else in the lobby, no names popped up of people that "left" or anything. Second time was a T20 that I didn't even get far enough to spawn the pursuing schwartzers and helicopter (it was the one where you steal the car from the mob boss or whatever at the house in the hills near the dam). That sh*t is annoying.

That's ones one of the easier ones imo, just land at the appropriate distance away and snipe the dude (and the chopper hovering overhead) and then have lester at the ready to get rid of the wanted level once you hop in the car. They annoyed me at first until I started doing it this way.

I was glad when they finally added the ability to move while looking through a scope, but why the f*ck am I still stuck in place when using the damn phone camera? That bugs the sh*t out of me, I hate pulling it out and going "oh no wait the angles a bit off", exiting the thing enough to walk around just to pull it back out and have it possibly happen again. Makes using the thing such a chore even though I would prefer using it as opposed to going all the way into the editor just to take a screen (even though it's far superior in terms of taking 'pics').

Haven't felt the urge to play GTAO for over a month now, SP is just so much better. No grinding the same fetch missions to get stuff, no waiting for Rockstar to add things to the game to enjoy them, just download a mod and use it, actually good cheats like no reloading a la San Andreas (just hold down mouse1 and destroy everything with double barrel), no jet griefers

Hopefully Rockstar announces an update or something soon.

I just tried to start a full large warehouse sale but instead of a sale mission starting I lost 3 crates.

This game is f*cking aids.

And a hard reboot didn't fix it.
