But, srsly, that's the reason. It's also the reason I only buy digital anymore. (I think GTA5 on Xbox360 was my last physical purchase, haha).

Interestingly enough, you may remember that Microsoft intended to launch the Xbone as a mandatory ALWAYS-CONNECTED game machine...one of the primary reasons for this was that you could buy a disc and then store it away somewhere and never need to keep switching discs...this was because they would KNOW if someone, somewhere else tried to install the same disc on another system, because of the electronic serial number. The OTHER purpose of this practice was to f*ck OVER Gamestop's Used-Game sales (which Microsoft, Sony and all videogame developers/publishers everywhere f*ckING HATE!)

But, that sh*t got shutdown before you could sneeze (very much thanks to Gamestop fueling the fires of protest), and Microsoft ended up removing the online requirement.

 

So, TL;DR...Because of Gamestop, you either have to buy it digitally if you want to switch games w/o having to switch discs...otherwise you have to keep a disc in your system to prove you own it.

Probably. You will probably use the 2 discs to install, and then the first to validate the legitimacy of the game and play at will without swapping anymore.

Nah, it's legit. There's an English version too. I think the mysterious 6.00 PS4 update probably added support for dual disc installs as well.

I'm perfectly fine with that if 1 disc is just being used to validate that I still actually own the game because it will never leave my PS4 once I insert it, ever.

I think I'll apply the saying 'Trust but verify' here. It could be legit but I still am skeptical. A gut feeling.
