Quick question for the tech savvy peeps. Am I correct to assume RDR2 played on a PS4 Pro but viewed through a 1080p TV (with super sampling enabling) will look comparable to viewing the gameplay trailers on youtube in 4K quality but through a 1080p monitor?

Good News: I will be getting RDR2 on launch day, October 26th.

Bad News: I have no PS4 until 2019 (a new one, original got broken).

 

Oh well i will be watching alot of walk through videos on You Tube (I did the same to Max Payne 3 back in the Xbox 360 days and i still finished the story twice).

It will look better than a standard PS4, so yes? That's my setup rn. Pro with 1080p tv. It's a noticable improvement for enhanced games over regular PS4 graphics. Just not as good as a 4k setup would be.

 

Supersampling is nice to have.

Read the spoiler articles at the Inn. Good stuff. Interestingly still no info about arrow drop when hunting when many articles claim they did it by now. But info to change my opening strategy on hunting. I need to read up on the proper spots to kill animals.  

 

Something already mentioned before todays news, a reporter that said he went above the weather system in the mountains. The lowest clouds hang at 6500ft. Remember how tiresome it was to ride from Tall trees into town? Imagine how long its going to take from riding down from 7000+ feet! I suspect they'll cheat the mountain scale though. Remember how time goes faster in game. Well, even at a run down the mountain on horse, they'll probably have it take the right amount of in game time to get down the mountain, but the mountain wont be as high as they claim it is to our eyes. Theres just no way they can scale it that high for us to trot down in real time. Even though the game is in 3rd person, the size of the world feels real to the player in relation to the character we are controlling. And travel time seems real in our heads as we play it. But the way they can cleverly shrink a "real" world the way Spiderman shrunk New York is amazing, and will be the key to tricking you into thinking a mountain is 7000+ feet high, when it really isnt, even from the characters point of view.

Agreed.

The thread will become obsolete anyway on Oct. 26, or whenever the real map leaks (guaranteed a few days early, I'm sure)....but we'll need to start guarding against treasure maps, collectible locations, and  "the secret entrance to the lost dinosaur valley is..."

I, uh, don't think it's 100% comparable.

 

Supersampling will give you amazing image quality though, it'll make the game look suuuuuper crisp.

Supersampling will give you much better image quality than a regular PS4.

I just hope Supersampling is better optimized than in Spiderman. Getting frequent fps drops on there.

Will come back at some point once RDO launches, will look for threads for players and stuff. May come back here before release too but idk. Depends how wild it gets. For now at least, this is the choice I made
