Has anyone ever looked at, and factually compared, the amount of/timing of all the GTA V pre release marketing and advertising in comparison to the current amount of/timing of RDR2 prerelease marketing (or lack thereof) ?

I'm just wondering if the amount of marketing for GTA V was comparable (less/more) at less than 4 months before it released. I keep hearing ppl say that it seems like R* is being particularly silent, but iirc, we didn't really get much info about GTAV until about 3 or 4 months before it released... right? I honestly don't remember, as I was really busy back in Sept 2013. It was almost 5 years ago now, too.

Just wondering if anyone has actually done the math on that yet. If no one has, I think I'll probably do it myself, as I'm really interested to see if R* is actually being silent, or just holding a familiar marketing campaign pattern.

If the leak about the nightclub DLC was true about it releasing on July 17th, a trailer for it today makes sense.  That leaves next week for a focus on nightclub dlc and maybe the treasure hunt.  That leads us into the last week of July that would be a good time for some RDR2 news before pre-orders expire and the investor call.

Also worth noting, I've been wrong on almost every prediction I've made in regards to news, so keep that in mind.  I'm just another fan starving for more details.

That sounds about right. My guess is the dlc comes out 17th, 24th treasure hunt with gamplay release annonouncement on 26th.

"Johnny boy! Oooh Johnny boy!" Sings Dutch with a crooked voice as Marston enters the tent.

"Singin' like a donkey on hot charcoal and it's still early on in the mornin'. You can tell you've been drinkin' Uncle's famous moonshine" Says John jokingly to Dutch.

"I've been tellin him to stay away from that poison and drink real alcohol". Says Arthur with a rare full smile to John. Who smiles back at Arthur while saying "Mornin, Art.".

"So when a man is a good mood, he's drunk now?" Responds Dutch jokingly.

Suddenly Dutch's face turns serious and stands up while looking at both men with a fixated gaze.

"What's the matter, Dutch?" Asks John.

"Two...I've got you two. Now I just need a third guy." Says Dutch while thinking very hard.

"Third guy? Third guy for what? You need something taken care of?" Asks John slightly nervous.

After a brief moment of silence Dutch anwsers John by explaining the situation of the three men who or on the run with the gang's money from last heist.

"What do you think, art, who would be a fine pick for this situation? We need a guy who can keep his temper in check. Because if one of them dies, the chance exists might never know where our money is." Asks Dutch, curious to hear Arthur's opinion.

"I would say Charles then" anwser Arthur while staring blank at the floor.

"Good..good. You, Johnny boy and Charlie it is then." Says Dutch while scratching his well maintained moustache.

"I'll go wake up Charles then and explain the situation to him"says John somewhat hestitant.

"Where's the little one?" Asks Arthur to John after taking one last bite from his apple and throwing it out of the tent.

"I think he was heading for the creek with Abigail. She was about to do some laundry for the camp. Why so?"

"Just wanted to say hi to him. He's a bright one your kid" Anwers Arthur while getting up of the stool.

"Just like his pa...anyways I'm going to look for Charlie" Says John and then he tips his hat to both Dutch and his right hand man and exits the tent.

After a small moment of silence, Dutch looks at his pocket watch and says " 5 past 8 already. Looks like our conversation lasted for quite some time eh"

"Indeed" Anwers Arthur shortly but firm as always.

"...I'm counting on you to lead this operation, Art. Make sure you guys get our money back. Cause the gang can't afford a f*ck up now".

"I know"

"Good, I knew I could count on you". Says Dutch to put even more pressure on Arthur.

"What will you be doing in the meantime then, Dutch?"

" I've got business to handle here at the camp. Planning our next move and such...import matters."Says Dutch with a slight sense of arrogance"

"Fine then, I'll arrange everything so we can leave by dawn of tomorrow". Arthur say quietly while looking Dutch firmly in the eye.

A serious moment of silence follows as both men look each other in the eye with a sense of bitterness.

"...Do you have my back?"  Asks Dutch with a calm but focused look.

After a brief pause, Arthur says

"Always Dutch" and turns around to leave the tent.

Back outside Arthur sees that the sun has risen more and the yellow orange color of dawn is starting to make place for the clear blue sky of the day.

Whilst stepping to the creek to find Jack, Arthur could smell the bitter, roasted scent of the coffee that bill has prepared and handing around the camp.

When arriving at the creek, Arthur sees John's wife, Abigail washing clothes and their four year old son Jack pulling up a small net from the creek.

"What are you doing there kid?" Ask Arthur calmly to Jack after a brief nod to Abigail.

"Uncle Art! Look, look, look! I caught food foor supper, food for supper!" Screams Jack in excitement to his big friend.

In the net Arthur could see one tiny crawfish squirming to escape.

"Um...yeah. That's great kid. But we're gonna need alot more if we want to have a decent meal."

"But they're hard to catch and they pinch! They can cut trough fingers"! Says Jack with a sense of fantasy.

"Look" says Arthur as he takes af his weathered tan leather jacket and roles up the sleaves of his somewhat ditrty blue shirt.

After ten minutes or so of plowing though the muddy floor of the creek, arthur could feel some scales. In a flash he pulls out three crawfish and smashes them on the rock to throw their lifeless bodies into the net.

"See? No fingers lost" Says Arthur with a faint smile to Jack.

"You're bleeding uncle Art, your bleeding. They cut you!" Says little Jack concerned.

"I don't see any blood..now go catch some more and maybe the chef can make a nice bisque out of them for tonight" Arthur says while he's wiping off some blooddrops onto his blue shirt.

After Jack nervously makes an attempt to catch some more crawfish, Arthur goes to Abigail to tell her he, Charles and her husband will be away for awhile to get their money back from the three men.

So I've been really enjoying the writing stuff on rdr2. Many thanks for liking it so much. :D I really think the game will be a masterpiece!

I have part 3 here. If it also does well, perhaps I should make a topic of it on it's own? You know as a full story arc?

Anyways enjoy! ;)

Nope.  Maybe they're going to 'come in hot' and just release the nightclub DLC next Tuesday without any trailer/teasers.

Maybe. And it'd be cool if it came next Tues, the 17th. But my money is on the 24th, for what it's worth... which I'm aware that isn't worth much to random strangers 😁😁😁 But that's just my opinion 👍

So not even a post about the upcoming Nightclub dlc ... interesting, very interesting.

Are we sure this is coming next Tuesday ... might be a shadow drop then?

We'll see this part of your post I disagree with

Blackwater is featured prominently in several scenes in the trailers, so we'll definitely spend more time there than just the opening Massacre.

And West Elizabeth HAS to extend the storyline into 1911.  There's literally no reason to include Beecher's Hope and Cochinay unless the plan is to show John and Dutch's stories right up to the start of RDR1.

It won't. R* is also aiming on 'new audience'. A remastered RDR will not be on the same level as the new part. Why would a gamer who is new to this game series play a less good game after a stunning (I assume ;)) part 2. Maybe they sell it separate tho...

You are true ... I know it will never happen and I'm somewhat glad that R* isn't the kind of developer doing remasters of their old games. I rather want them to switch focus to their next projects ... I want them to announce Bully 2 next year!

Same here.. Yes, he may have been a lazy old geezer, but the man sacrificed himself for the Marstons. It was devastating to see him suffer and die :bored:

Honesty, I wouldn't be too surprised if we're getting a gameplay trailer this week.

Remember that;

31st of January 2013 -> delay GTA V

1st of February 2018 -> delay RDR2

30th of April 2013 -> 3rd trailer GTA V

2nd of May 2018 -> 3rd trailer RDR2

9th of July 2013 -> Gameplay trailer GTA V

12th of July 2018 -> Gameplay trailer RDR2??

R* really is following the same schedule for marketing as they did for GTA V.

Let's go R*, don't give us nothing now!

Here it is GunSlinger :)

Here it is :)

We are aware of a few things:

1. An upcoming RDR2 themed treasure hunt.

2. RDR2 tees.

3. Going by history- a gameplay trailer.

My guess is Rockstar releases the new GTA O update next. Within a week of its release they will release the RDR2 treasure hunt because with the new update, more people will get back on GTA O so the treasure hunt marketing will be available to more players.

After that with RDR2 again fresh in people's mind we will see a gameplay trailer.

Its all a matter of 2 weeks now imo!
