Strauss Zelnick always says that E3 is not a customer focused fair which is the reason they just have a business booth over there. 

Gamescom is clearly customer driven. Might be the event and perfect timing to promote RDR2 at Sony press conference

It's been almost 2 years, I thought we'd all learned by now that the chance of Rockstar appearing at any conference is basically zero. Gamescom is a very hands on event as well, there's a ton of playable games there. It's never really been known as a big showcase event.

Also, I just noticed after this week the next two Thursdays are somewhat milestones...

Due to my extreme amount of hype and anticipation for RDRII I've wrote a short story today to help quell my boredom (if only for a moment.) it's something I do often. I love to write even though I rarely share the things I write with others I enjoy it even though I know I'm not the best, it's still fun as hell to me.

 

But i figure what the hell, you guys share the same passion for this game as I do, so why not share it with you. Since we're all here dying of boredom waiting for some info anyways.

 

( just one last quick mention i wrote this story with the new Npc interaction ability in mind, now I'm not claiming that this system  will be as  in depth as it is in the story, but I just tried to basically out line one type of situation we might find  out in the world and how we can interact with in our own way choosing how Arthur will/can react.) 

 

Here it is:

 

  Reveal hidden contents

 

 

 

After an evening of quail hunting, Arthur Morgan finds himself riding along a slightly overgrown forest trail, off in the distance he spots the small town  of valentine. He knows from past experience the citizens haven't exactly been keen to welcome known and wanted outlaws, but figures that a quick and direct trip through town will save him much needed time in the way back to his gangs' camp. He chuckles to himself, clicks his tongue and Spurs his horse onward into town.

 

  The sun was setting, casting an amber light through the glazed windows of the valentine saloon. A man who was leaned back in his chair with his hat pulled over his eyes slowly lifts it and peers out of the adjacent window due to the casted shadow of a man on horseback crossing  his boots.

 

"The f*ck is this?" The man says in a slightly elevated tone of almost disbelief.

He jumps up from his chair grabbing the table to steady himself after realizing he wasn't as sober as he had thought, and heads out the door just as Arthur was crossing in front of him.

 

From horseback Arthur hears the man shout:
"Don't know what'chu think you're doing back here boy, but your kind ain't welcome in this town! If I was you, I get outta here while I could still ride that mangy horse!"

 

Arthur cranes his neck to face the man as he passes him, tips his hat and calmly says

"Just passin' through." 

 

The drunk man throws his arms up and out toward Arthur in disapproval before stumbling back into the saloon.

 

After trotting to the other side of the one street town. Arthur  hitches and dismounts his horse, grabbing a double barrel 12 gauge from the sling on the side of his saddle, checks both barrels and loads them with two shells from his left  jacket pocket before slamming them shut with a sharp "clack!" and beginning  a slow saunter back in the direction of the sun, and the saloon.

 

 Various townsfolk, upon noticing Arthur's stoic demeanor, scramble to hide or to make it back indoors. Leaving the street unusually hollow. 

A local sheriffs deputy of skinny and small stature and of a young age finishes a shot of whisky before stepping off of his porch and into the path of Arthur.

 

Pointing toward Arthur's horse which had held 3 quail tied up and draped over the haunches, he says:

"Now hold up there cowboy, I don't know what you're plannin' to do or where you are plannin' to go with that there shotgun but I can assure you, there ain't no quail that need shootin' in this here town and well, you're just plain scaring folks. Let's try to keep things more civilized eh? We don't take well to violence, and neither do we abide it." he says, placing his hand on his colt.

 

Arthur flashes him an evil smirk and replies: 
"Just passing through friend." As he he pushes his way past the much smaller deputy with his shoulder and climbs the steps onto the saloons' porch.

 

The sparsely populated saloon grows ever more silent as the floor boards creek under the weight of Arthur's boots as he enters the room. 

With his spurs jangling in cadence along with every weighted footstep. He makes his way over to the table where the drunk man from earlier is sitting with his back facing him. stopping short, about 8 feet from where the man is sitting.

 

Hearing  that the footsteps have come to a halt, the man turns his head to see who is behind him, noticing the shotgun in Arthur's  left hand before slowly standing up to face him.

 

Now looking each other eye to eye  the drunk slurs: 

"What'chu  some special kind of stupid, asshole? I thought I told you, you weren't welcome in my town!" As he spits his tobacco onto floor, wiping his chin with the back of his hand.

 

"There's no need to worry sir." Arthur says looking toward the floor.

"I'm just passing through..."  he continued as he lifted the shotgun to his waist, pulled back both barrels and before the man could react loosed both of them into his chest and stomach, the inertia from the shot knocking him off of his feet and onto the floor, the back of his head  colliding with the table on the way down as the sharp and raspy sound of all the air leaving his lungs echoed through the room, like a steam whistle through a midnight cow pasture.

 

"Just like whatever's left of your internal organs." Arthur finishes with a chortle, 
the man still looking up at him from the floor choking on what would surely be his final short and shallow breaths, As he turns and leaves the saloon.

 

Quickly walking down the street, Arthur mounts his horse and canters back toward the the young  deputy who is now in the middle of the avenue  shakily  trying to remove his colt from its holster. 

 

Arthur rides up alongside the struggling and anxious deputy,  removes his hat and says:

 

"I wouldn't do that if I were you son." Before placing it on the his head with a pat.
"This here town, they don't abide by violent types." He jokes with a snarky tone as he turns and rides out of the view of the now puking deputy, who is quickly confronted by a hurried sheriff.

 

"What in the name of Sam Hill is goin' on here son? And who in the hell was that man who just stole your hat?"

"No one sir." The deputy says trying to stifle his nervous retching "he's just passing through."

 

 

Again, Sorry for the long post. Hope you all enjoyed.

Mud splashed up with every hoof fall from the non-stop rain and both Arthur and his loyal companion Jessabelle, a huge Hungarian Half-Breed that stood 19 hands tall and made Arthur look like a dwarf in comparison, soggily drifted into St. Denis to pick up some supplies at the request of Dutch the gangs leader and mentor.  Arthur was wet and cold and you could see his breath in the night air as rain dripped from the brim of his leather wide brimmed custom made hat and down onto his warn long cattleman coat.

 

He would have to wait until morning when the shop opened to gather the necessary supplies, so he rode slowly down to the Saloon on the second street corner that glowed with warm Kerosene lights on the covered wrap around porch.  He could see several figures enjoying a pint just inside the thin paned windows that lined the exterior that were separated by two swinging doors. As he strolled up to the hitching post, two men took a step back that had been leaning against the porch roof support,  at the sheer size of the two figures approaching the saloon. Arthur who is big in his own right standing 6 foot 3” and just over 2 stones dismounted and nodded and mumbled “Good even’n fellers” as he walked past pushing the swinging doors open.

 

Inside a fireplace warmed the establishment that was the centerpiece of the south wall that went floor to ceiling with smooth warned rocks. At one table there were two rough dirty men arguing about who could shoot then best and at another 3 elegant men sipping brandy talking  with slow southern drawls. Over in the North East corner was a 10 foot round table covered in a green felt that was stained and torn from the many hands of poker that patrons had lost and won grocery money at. Over in the opposite corner was a flight of stairs that snaked up to the second floor where there were rooms you could rent for the night or hour depending upon your mood. Outside several doors there were girls dressed to the nines flirting with every man that walked past in an attempt to seduce to partake in the oldest of trades.

 

Arthur strolled up to the bar along the far wall that had stools every couple of feet. He sat down and a bartender walked up and said “What will you have mister” “Whisky” Arthur replied. He sat there enjoying his whisky as the room bustled with talk and laughter behind him. He finished his Whisky quickly trying to warm his shivering body. He asked the bartender for another “Give me another and leave the bottle”. He sat there for about an hour finishing most of the bottle. As he stood up he asked the bartender “How much do I owe ya?” “3 bits” the bartender replied. Arthur tossed the money on the bar and asked “how do you go about renting a room for the night?” bartender replies “you talk to me” “How much” Arthur asks? “A dollar” the bartender replies. “I’ll take it” Arthur mutters.

 

Arthur treads up the stairs and unlocks the third door down from the top of the stairs where a young beautiful women stood that wore a white almost see through dress that was cinched at the waste to highlight her perfect figure. She batted her eyes and asks “care for some company you handsome devil? in a more feminine tongue than the three men downstairs . Arthur not devoted to any women ganders slowly at this beauty from head to toe and devilishly responds with “yes Maam”. Arthur holds the door open for her and they both enter.

 

 

The next morning Arthur can be seen exiting the room with the young lady, he tips his hat and mutters something and strolls out of the bar...

Well I just have to say "thank you" to all of you for such kind words regarding my short story. I certainly didn't expect so many of you to enjoy it as much as you did, let alone for it to inspire some of you to write your own.Btw good work to all of you who have done so. I could definitely see us making this a fun pass time while we wait for the game to release, and perhaps even afterwards once we know more characters, and have a little more quality time with the ones we know to learn more about them and how they really behave.

 

i enjoy writing many different things but this was one of my first RDRII stories (and my most detailed) and seeing the reception it has gotten, I will definitely be writing and posting more! And I hope y'all will do the same. It's been a pleasure reading them, if you use your imagination it's almost like playing the game!

Rockstar should do a live reveal in GTA online of RDR2.

Imagine if they could record Rob Nelson speaking about the game in a chat show on one of the Radio Channels in GTA O.

Bit like the Fortnite rocket event.

Would be awesome to just drive around Sandy Shores listening to what RDR2 will be like!

Hopefully they could do a RDR2 soundtrack reveal too there!

Great idea!  I'm not sure if that's Something they could even do and I don't even play GTAO but you can bet your ass if that were to happen I'd be sitting in a car looking out at the Alamo sea while smoking a blunt and listening to whatever he has to say for however long he wishes to say it.

I find it interesting how R* released a few screens with both John & Sadie & not just Arthur & Sadie. This could mean absolutely nothing and just be from a mission and future game play we'll get to see, but it shows he'll have more involvement than most think.

I honestly think, seeing that we are going to see what happens during the failed robbery of 1906 that John will most likely be only in the first stages of the game and maybe middle but not the end. I'm sure R* don't want us to stop loving John as a character, but wants us to fall in love with who Arthur is and maybe what he's done for John as a whole as well the gang.

 

For that sole purpose I believe R* officially kills off John from the series but leaves us missing him and loving him more by Involving him in Arthur story through his own eyes. Leaving us with a new deep relationship with Arthur and other characters, and who knows maybe time jumps will end with us as an older Morgan meeting a older Jack. I'm just dreaming lol let me dream guys.

Maybe they are teasing a teaser by stating "RDR2 tees coming soon", because "tees" reads like "tease". So RDR2 tease coming soon? A Gameplay Trailer before the Investor Call on August 2nd? Maybe the week of July 23rd?
