I'm guessing the game starts with the gang fleeing from something, a botched robbery or the like.

Sorry for the late response but yeah that's fine too, it will be a memorable start to the game if we start off with the Blackwater heist and then like you and others have said it will slow down after the first couple of missions to let us get a feel of things before gradually building up to the tension  again. Even if it's mayhem all the way I don't mind, I just prefer the slow burn start in general. But yeah looking forward to start off with the Blackwater heist, I've no doubt it'll be exciting

I feel like John bitch ass is going to be the reason everything goes bad. He is a disloyal muhf*cka as we all seen. I see him snitching out where the gang is hiding or something. I believe there was a valid reason why they left his ass for dead.

1. He's going to be vastly different this time around

I really enjoyed the slow start to GTA 4. The way it introduced you to the city, the characters, the driving, the combat, all very slowly over those missions in Hove Beach is how I do prefer open world games to start out. I like things to be slowly fleshed out over time. However, with Rockstar's more recent titles, the missions have gotten bigger and longer, but there are less of them, so they try and get you into the action quickly in GTA 5 and not waste time with tutorials.

 

But a game can be as slow as you want it to be if you do missions infrequently and free roam, I guess. But sometimes leaving a lot of time between missions just to free roam doesn't work well if the pacing is too fast. The pacing of the RDR is pretty much ideal for me, those early missions with Bonnie felt like a "tutorial" and once you get to the Marshall that is when the world starts to open up and the pace quickens.

I hated the slow start in IV, it took too long to see some action. That said, I'm not asking for a GTA V-like bombastic opening for RDR2. I think a quieter, story driven intro with a little bit of combat would be a good way to start the game.

I hope so, revolving this game around John is going to be wack. I just do not want RDR2 to be filler for the plot holes in RDR. That would be completely lazy on R* behalf. I want John to be a completely different person. Brash, ruthless, cold hearted and unkind. A gang of characters with all different personalities and perspectives, it's going to be dope seeing members form a bond, argue and what have you.
