I honestly think it's gonna be bigger than GTA V's map. We'll have to wait and see.

That would be great, I wouldn't mind that at all. Long rides through the world discovering things, encounters, weather effects and views. I still gawk at how good GTAV looks to be s last gen game.

I just hope it's dense with interesting things to so. One of the problem's I had with GTAV was that none of the side activities really interested me that much. That and a lot of the map seemed like empty space with no purpose.

Yet I can go back to RDR for the 5th time and still have fun with bounties, treasure hunts, and hunting animals. RDR had a lot of empty space also, but I think I could look past it because the landscapes, along with the music and art direction, help set an atmosphere and tone. I ride my horse almost everywhere in that game, even in my 5th playthrough, because of how engrossing the western vibe was. I hope RDR2 can do the same thing for me.

I thought the same thing...I have a feeling I’m not gonna like John very much in RDR 2....

Perhaps it's Arthur's responsibility to put some sense into a young John and plant the seeds that make him the man he is in RDR1. Connect the two protagonists with that arc.

I'm kind of looking forward to seeing John as a real bad guy outlaw. He'll do and say really bad things, which could be off-putting, but it will make us appreciate his RDR1 incarnation more. We'll be able to see just how far he rose up from a life of crime to become the good man he was in the end.

Yeah that's why I feel like Rockstar will connect John and Arthur by actually making us help Marston become a better man. Instead of being offput by a young brashy John, we'll want to get invested in his redemption and bring him back to the light.

Maybe Arthur will try to make John realize he's not made for this life anymore since John might be the only gang member with kids.

In the first game we could just walk into any ranch, town, settlement, grab a horse and ride away without any consenquenses.

I wonder if we can do the same in RDR2.

If that new NPC system we're hearing about is really advanced then maybe every NPC besides of having a daily routine also owns personal property including his horse, so he might try to stop you from stealing.

What do you guys think?

Maybe we'll get some kind of "Franklin & Michael relationship" between John & Arthur. They're all criminals and Franklin was 25 if i remember correctly, John must be 26 in RDR 2. And Michael & Arthur seem to be about the same age and they're both more experienced criminals (while Arthur seems a bit younger than Michael).

"They chased us over the mountains!"

Maybe there will be a Donner's Pass series of missions, where the gang is trapped in the mountains, freezing, with no food, and they have to decide who's going to be tomorrow's lunch.  😛

Yeah, i hope it's more realistic in terms of what horse you can take without consequences. Think about it, horses back then were like cars, so taking one from an NPC (like a rancher) should make them react accordingly.

Just imagine, you are playing with friends trying to clear this huge hideout, but your horse gets shot. You guys manage to take out the hideout anyway and you get XP, money etc. But your horse is still dead. So i think it would be way more awesome if you say "sh*t guys my horse is dead, i will either have to buy a new one or break a wild one. Can you guys help me out" Instead of "Yeh no worries m8, i'll just grab another random-ass horse somewhere i'll be fine. lol" (If you decide to steal a horse that's cool too, as long as NPCs react to it)

Rockstar has already confirmed horse perma-death but i hope they use common sense and implement it correctly into SM and Online. It's also fine if after clearing out the hideout you take the now dead outlaws's horse, all i'm saying is it has to make sense.

I can´t decide which character I´m most looking forward to, but if I had to choose, it would still be Arthur ... these two different representations in the second and third trailer make me really obsessed to learn more about him and his story around Dutch and the gang ... also his relationship to the new characters. And of course to our favorite cowboy John. I'm curious how he will be shown this time 🤠
Dutch and his background was always very interesting in my opinion ... I found it a pity that he and Javier had so little time in the first game ... unlike Bill. I always thought Bill stupid and nasty ... but this time he looks damn cool ^^ Also really interesting: our "new fellows" Sadie and Micah  ... it seems to take so long until Red October  :(

Arthur to John:  "You know, I've been in this game for a lot of years, and I got out alive. That makes me the right age. You look like a good kid. If you want my advice, you give this sh*t up."

In retrospect, as we all know now, John should have taken this advice.

So the way this should work, is when you steal some NPC's horse, you take off, and meanwhile, they're yelling, "Help, help!! That guy stole my horse!!"

A second NPC will come along, hearing the first NPC's distress call, and the first NPC says, "Hey, mister, you gotta help me get my horse back; she's all I got!"  The second NPC starts chasing after you, and doesn't stop, until you finally turn around and kill him.

If in the future the game mechanics regarding NPC interactions become really deep we could have the following scenario...

You steal a horse without been seen, you ride off, you keep using that horse and after a couple of weeks as you ride down the road a guy yells... "Hey, that's my nag!!"

They've been working on it for 8 goddamn years! Hope it doesn't just have a huge map, but also tons of stuff to do. However, I'm gonna put most of my playing time on hunting and poker :D

R* isn't going to be at E3 It would be funny if they copied what Kanye West did in having a listening party for his new album in Wyoming and R* has an exclusive showing of RDR2 gameplay in the middle of nowhere during E3. Making all the journalists abandon E3 and fly off to wherever it is R* showing the gameplay.

Companies have done things like that in the past. Like using a building across the street of E3 to do their own thing.

i only ask because they are people saying on reddit that he is not.

Cool. Even if it was just simple animations like smoking a cigarette, or looking around would be cool.
